The Adidas Adizero Evo SL is a new daily trainer we’ve been itching to get our hands on since it was launched in line with the Adios Pro 4 racing shoe. It has a lightweight design with a big stack of Lightstrike Pro foam in the midsole, and promises to be versatile and fun. Is it versatile and fun? Nick went out for a progression run in the shoe to find out; here are his first impressions of the Adidas Evo SL.

Hello and welcome to run testers my name Is Nick and this is our first run review Of the Adidas Adis Evo [Music] SL so the evos SL is a new lightweight Daily trainer from Adidas that's Inspired by the kind of look and Geometry of the pro EVO One the elite Only or the elite focused racing shoe From Adas but instead of having a crazy High price tag the eosl has a very Reasonable one it comes in at £130 or $150 it's a very lightweight shoe at 224 G or 7.9 Oz that's in a uk9 US 9.5 has a 6 mm drop and a stack height of 39 mm at The heel 33 mm at the for foot so the Evo is a shoe I've been really Keen to Try out it's got a lot of very appealing Characteristics on paper it's nice and Lightweight got a big stack of Light Strike Pro in the midsole reasonable Price looks like a really top shoe all Around and the general approach to the Design from Adas is to keep things you Know pretty simple all around you've got Fairly thin mesh upper on the top there But there's quite a lot of padding Around the back of the shoe to be more Comfortable than something like the Boston 12 for example we got a bit of an Internal heel counter there to add some Structure to the back of the shoe but Otherwise pretty stripped back up top And the mids soole like I say is just
One big wedge of Light Strike Pro foam I Think this is the version of the phone Used on the adios Pro 3 rather than the Softer version on the Pro 4 which I've Not tried yet but it feels like that to Me anyway but there's no rods or Anything like that in there like you do Have on stuff like the Boston or the Pro Racing shoes you've got quite a sharp Rocker profile on the shoe under the Forefoot in particular which as says is Inspired by The Rocker design of the pro EVO One racing shoe and then you've got Rubber on the forefoot and heel of the Shoe there so the four foot section is Made from Continental Rubber and then You have clear rubber in the two strips At the [Music] Back so it comes to the fit of the shoe I've got my normal uk9 here which is a Us99.5 for Adidas sometimes Adidas I do Have to go half a size up because they Can be quite tight around the toes Especially in some of their Racing shoes But I like the fit of the evos L in my Normal size just ran in it today at the Start of the run I felt like maybe my Toes were a little bit too close to the Front of the shoe on the right foot in Particular my right foot is very Slightly bigger than my left foot but Actually by the end of the run the fit Felt really good to me it's got It's
Kind of dialed in enough to feel good For fast running but it isn't too tight Overall I would stick to your normal Size actually has quite a wide fit Around the midfoot of the shoe and as Someone with a narrow foot I did feel Like I had a little bit of lateral Movement at times but again by the end Of the run you know I just felt really Comfortable in the upper around and it's Certainly you know a lot more Comfortable than something like the Boston 12's upper you've got quite a lot Of padding around the back of the shoe Here without it being oppressive or too Much or anything like that and it just Creates a really nice comfortable step In feel which you kind of want from a Daily trainer but at the same time it is Still nice and lightweight and minimal So does feel like a shoe you can you Push the pace in so overall I would say The fit is fairly dialed in around the Toes but I would stick to your normal Running shoe size especially as there's Quite a lot of width around the midfoot Of the shoe you know there's lots of Space [Music] There so exciting one today first run in The Adidas adzo Evo SL shoe I've been Really looking forward to testing trying To get a hold of for a little while got A nice run on the plan as well to test
It out today I've got an easy to steady Hour so I'll be working from kind of Around 430 okay down to around 340 okay Usually something like that should be About 15K in total nice chance to test The shoe at a range of Paces like it's Really exciting shoe on paper I think It's very much in line with stuff like The New Balance Rebel the hook Max shoes I really like like lightweight plate Free shoes but you've got Light Strike Pro in this shoe so I'm hoping it Actually elevates it above those kind of Shoes all at a pretty reasonable price Tag so yeah excited to get out in them And running them right now So all done now that was a very Enjoyable first outing in the 0l I think I did kind of about 15K in the main run And then yeah just a little K jog home Afterwards and really enjoyed it it's Just a shoe that you know really gets Out of the way and let you run it's got A really nice vibe to it is what I think Of it's like it's quite a simple shoe Certainly elevated by the really Impressive foam in that mids soole it's Not like a big sinking and squish you Get from Light Strike Pro like it does Break in a little bit over the time it Has done for me in the past while Looking out for that in the future but Just a really nice responsive field off The toes while providing enough Comfort
The the rock is really sharp on this you Can really notice that I'd say compared To things maybe like the Boston which I Sh I really liked but you um do get that Slightly more forceful push off that Very sharp rocker there and it feels Like you can get a nice bit of direct Ground feel under your toes as a result Because it is quite thin at the front of The shoe there and that helps when you Start to up the pace for sure but Doesn't really detract from the ride too Much when you're running easy as well Like did go through a nice range of Paces today and it felt good all of them There so yeah just a really nice shoe to Running like I said it's just got a good Vibe to it it's kind of shoe there's a Lot of complicated stuff in running Shoes these days there's lots of stuff Going on you always questioning exactly What shoe is the perfect shoe for the Run and then this is the kind of shoe You can just pull on nice and Comfortable but has a nice bit of speed There nice and lightweight just do what You want really it just feels really Good for that kind of thing also say the Upper a lot better than something like The Boston which was the main big Drawback with the Boston I think he got A really nice fit to it it's very Comfortable feels much more daily Trainer Without Really pulling away
Anything from the pace of the shoe so Yeah really positive all round like Isn't necessar going to have quite the Speed of you some of the really fast Pled super trainers out there you know But it is going to be a nice fast and Verse HHO like I said start of the run You know to me I was hoping it would be Kind of like a soup up Max 6 or Rebel V4 And actually that is kind of what it Feels like so far got a double day Tomorrow with some faster workout so I Might try and use it for some you know Speed down the track and see how you Know that top end versatility is in the Shoe but certainly that kind of easy Steady one today I do that fairly Regularly perfect shoe for it just Cruises through it only real black mark Today on the entire thing is an actual Black mark at the front of the shoe Where I went for a puddle and it doesn't Look quite so nice anymore which is a [Music] Shame so very early verdict on the evos That shoe that I intend to do a lot of Running in so probably get quite a lot Of distance in ahead of our four Rie but One of the reasons I was so excited to Try this shoe was that you looking at it It's the kind of shoe I would design for Myself if I was making my own daily Trainer and I had access you know all The kind of stuff that running shoe
Companies do you know I would stick you Know a lightweight but still comfortable Upper on top of a big wedge of a super Foam like Light Strike Pro and Especially Light Strike Pro the version From the Pro 3 which is a little bit Firmer than lots of super Foams in the Market so you do have enough stability There for daily training while still Getting that nice responsive ride I'd Have a drop of around 5 to8 mm 6 millim In this case I'd have a good stack Height like this you know lots of Cushioning Under Foot for Comfort but I Wouldn't go necessarily as crazy as Something like the super blast which Sometimes feels a bit too big for me i' Have a nice rocker profile on the shoe And then I'd stick something like Continental rubber or Puma grip on the Bottom of it to give you that grip so Really I'm pleased that it has worked Out so well because you know that's kind Of shoe I'd make for myself and actually I did enjoy running in the shoe as much As I expected to so that's a good sign Like I don't really have many notes like You know if I was designing the shoe Myself I might stick Continental rubber At the back of the shoe as well as a Heel Striker I like a bit of extra grip There I might bring out a teal version Because that's the best color but all Around I think it's a really strong
Daily trainer and I'm really looking Forward to go out and running in it Again put it for a nice range of Paces Today and it's the kind of run where I Think be great to have the shoe in your Lineup to pick up those kind of Progression runs General runs you're Pushing the pace a little bit and I'll Also test it on some pure easy runs and Do some FAS stuff in it as well to see How that range you know really does Compare to something like a plated Trainer which which does give you that Extra punch at top end speeds but we'll See how the eosl handles them as well But all around yeah certainly really Enjoyed thisday I should maybe temper Some of this prob if you step into the Sho you're not going to necessarily feel Something absolutely crazy underfoot Like sometimes I think when we really Praise you as people expect something Like I don't know the C the feeling of The hoker cx1 from a daily trainer Hasn't got that crazy spring or anything Like that but it does have just a really Nice all round ride of a nice bounce Enough softness enough firmness where You want it as well so really well Balanced bed in a nice lightweight Design and looks good even if I have Messed up the looks of it a little bit There so obviously we'll do a lot more Running and get to the full review in
Time where we'll do a load more Comparisons to other shoes but like I Said I do think it Compares a lot to Things like the rebel V4 and the HX 6 It's a more Nimble and a kind of Punchier version of the rebel I would Say and has a bit more cushioning as Well and then I think it's quite similar To the Hoka Max 6 but just with a more Aggressive rocker and then again a more Responsive foam Under Foot so those two Shoes I really love so I really expect Them to carry on loving the shoe but We'll see how that goes for the four Revie but so far yeah really enjoyed Running in the eosl today in my first [Music] Run so that's our first look at the Adidas Ado Evos do get in touch and let us know What you think about the shoe if you've Been able to test it out please do like And subscribe ring the little bell and We'll see you next time
