The Nike Zoom Fly 6 and Adidas Adizero Evo SL are two of our favourite running shoes thanks to the versatile and fun rides they deliver, but they have quite different designs. The Adidas does’t have a plate and keeps things simple in general with its lightweight design, whereas the Nike has a dual-density midsole and a full-length carbon plate. Which is better? Nick runs through the pros and cons of each shoe in this video.

Hello and welcome to run testers my name Is Nick in this video we're going to be Comparing the Adidas at azero evos and The Nike zoomfly [Music] 6 so the zoomfly 6 and the Adidas evos Are both fast training shoes that take Different approaches to that brief with The zoomfly 6 being more of a classic Super trainer with a dual density mids Soole and a full length plate whereas The Adidas is a lower profile lighter Shoe with just a nylon shank in the Midsole and one foam in there some ways Not directly comparable but this is a Versus that a lot of people have asked For so I thought I would oblige and They're two of my favorite shoes so I am Happy to talk about them at all times Adidas is the cheapest shoe it's £130 in The UK and $150 in the US whereas the Nike is $155 or $170 Adidas is also the Lighter shoe at 224 G or 7.9 o in the UK 9 whereas the Nike is 266 G or 9.4 o in The same size Adas is a 6mm drop of the Stack I of 39 mm at the heel 33 at the 4T the Nike has an 8 mm drop with a Higher site of 42 mm at the heel 34 at The 4T so you got very simple design Really with the Adas evos you've got a Very minimal lightweight mesh upper with A bit of padding around the collar of The shoe but not too much in a small Internal heel counter as well then
You've got a Light Strike Pro midsole There's just one foam in there this is The Light Strike pro version that I Think is in the adios Pro 3 so they Slightly firmer than the foam that's Used in the adios Pro 4 and there's a Small nylon shank around the midfoot as Well to add some stiffness to that Midsole but it's nothing like a full Length plate like you'll have in the Nike then for the outs soole you've got Continental rubber used on the 4 foot And then two strips of clear rubber used At the back of the shoe with an Nike You've got a two- layer woven mesh upper With more padding around the back of the Shoe than you have on the Adidas and a Higher heel tab bit more structure Internally as well it's it's a thicker You know more Comfort focused upper Actually than the one on the Adidas I Would say got a dual density Mido with a Top layer of Nike zumex peber foam on Top the the bouncy best foam in their Range the bottom layer is sr2 carrier Foam which is a bit firmer a bit more Stable I guess than the zoomx foam on The top there and then you have a full Length carbon plate running in between Those two layers of foam then you got Rubber out soole with similar coverage To the Adidas with the 4 foot and the Heel covered just with a much bigger Cutout in the mid soole there on the
Nike than you have on the [Music] Ads onto the fit I've got a uk9 in both Of these shoes which is different in the US for these brands with Adidas that's a US 9.5 with Nike it's a US 10 so if You're using UK sizing the Adidas will Come up a little bit smaller in that Size I said I was happy with my normal Uk9 in both of these shoes just bearing In mind that the adids might fit a Little bit more tightly around the Nike If you are using UK sizing I generally Have a uk9 with both Brands sometimes You adds I will size up to get you know A US 10 essentially but I didn't need to With the evos so in general I would Stick with your normal size for both of These brands with the Nike probably got A roomier fit like I mentioned a Slightly more comfortable padded fit as Well but actually both of them have Pretty comfortable uppers all around I'd Say four shoes that do lean towards Speed work they have nice padded uppers That can work for more relaxed daily Training as well and I was really happy With the fit of both of them in my Normal [Music] Size onto the run test then and I've run Over 100k in both of these shoes 140 in The Nike actually and that's just Because I'm a big fan of both of them
They're really versatile enjoyable Trainers that you can use for a wide Range of runs they certainly excel at The faster end of your training runs but Actually have the more relaxed gear you Need for rolling around at easy Paces as Well with the designs really compliment That wide range of different runs just Different approaches though with this More low profile lightweight feel in the Adidas and the more built up plated ride Of the Nike the zoomfly 6 does feel Bigger on the foot for sure and it Doesn't feel as immediately quick as the Adidas does when you pull it on feels Much more like a cruiser but you can go Up to high speeds with it I've gone down The track and done mile reps I've done a Nasty progression run finishing at you Know really fast pace in it I've also Done steady long runs in it as well Where I've been you know holding a Decent pace without pushing too hard and That's really where it excels for me the Nike where you know the comfort of the Shoe the high stack the plate all Combined to create a shoe that's very Good for holding fast Paces for long Periods whereas the Adidas feels a bit More immediately quick like the kind of Shoe that works really well for reps and Not necessarily as good on those Cruising kind of runs because you don't Have the full length plate in there to
Add assistance and a slightly lower Stackle round that said it can do them Like I have done those long Tempo style Runs in the ads as well and really Enjoyed it in this shoe so like I said The Nike does feel bigger in the foot Adidas is lighter and nimbler and also Softer because you don't have the full Length plate there especially if like Myself you land at the heel you really Get a soft wedge of foam that that you Sink into and then get you know a lot of Energy return from the foam but you Don't get necessarily the same push onto Your forefoot that you get from the Nike It still is a really good transition With the adid Das and you get a really Nice lift off the toes at the end there With that very sharp rocker but doesn't Feel like it's rolling through your foot Strike in exactly the same way as the Nike does it feels like you sink in a Bit more with the alss and get a lot More spring from the foam itself rather Than the plate providing that I would Say so like I said I've done some of Those longer Tempo starle runs in the Shoe and I've also gone down the track And done a session where I was running 400 met reps and just been really Impressed with it pretty much every time I've run in the UST and actually I think It's almost got better as time has gone On like with a shoe like this you're
Probably worried about durability and The phone bottoming out but so far i' Say the ride has only got better with The Adas evos with that foam actually Breaking in a little bit and now getting Even more soft and bouncier underf foot So it's certainly a Shue that redelivers When you go and do short sharp reps to Shoot that is comfortable to cruise Around in but I would say the negative On the Adidas when it comes to those More relaxed runs especially at longer Distances is that it's not quite as Stable as the Nike I would say even Though the zoomfly has a higher stack And you know soft foam on top there You've got the firmer base layer I think You've got a slightly wider base Especially at the heel of the shoe and The plate in there all creates a more Stable feel it like it feels a more Solid Landing when you're running in the Nike especially at easy Paces Adidas is Softer and you get a little bit more Inward roll I would say as a result of That because you haven't got so much Going on in the midell to try and Support a more stable feel and you've Got that very narrow pinch point on the Ads with the little cut out there as Well on the medial side so to Sho that Is bit more geared for Speed as a result But if you are a neutral Runner you're Not too worried about stability you can
Use the Adas for those easy runs as well And it's very joyable for that because Of the nice soft bouncy foam you have Here when you then move on to those Longer runs though especially if you're Looking at longer races or longer easy Runs kind of you know long progression Runs the Nike stability is a benefit and The plate in there helps as well to just Kind of ping you on your way and help You sustain that speed I think quite Nicely and maintain like a natural easy Rhythm whereas with the Adidas it Probably excels more at those shorter Speed workor sessions because it's a Lighter shoe and it feels like a much More far shoe when you first put it on Compared to the Nike to do a short run Wearing bow shoes at the same time you Can really feel the softness of the Adidas when you land and then that nice Kind of bouncy feeling off the toes with The rocker there with that impressive Foam the Nike it feels much more like a Big shoe a cruiser you feel the nice Fast transition from heel to toe and it You know feels very energetic off the Toes as well but you don't really feel The speed in the same way you do with The Adidas where you've got more ground Contact I think under the foref foot for Sure and in general just you know feels A very Lively narrow Nimble shoe on your Foot Nike is built for Speed but doesn't
Feel it in quite the same way you kind Of you know you have to trust that it Can hold speed for a long time trust That's built up for me over you know Doing 140k of runs including some really Fast stuff and I know this is a far shoe Just doesn't feel as immediately Speedy As the edid Des so both shoes certainly End up being really verstile but you the End of the run test you know I start to Think about what the runs on my plan Which shoe would appeal to me more if I'm just looking at a general daily run Of kind of you know 10K 16k that kind of Thing Adidas feels a bit more enjoyable For me for that kind of run as I'm go Down the track and run intervals up to Kind of like 800 M I'd look at the Adidas again but then if I start looking At longer progression runs like my 90minut Sunday long run with a bit of Speed at the end or a track session Running 2K reps or 1K reps the Nike is The one that starts to appeal more to me In my mind so even though they both have Done all of those kinds of sessions for Me they do excel in slightly different [Music] Areas verdict is that these are two Excellent shoes they actually two shoes I think you could fit into rotation Together that both cover a lot of bases But have strength in slight different Areas with the Adidas like I say having
That more immediate feel of speed and a Nice soft ride actually for easy runs as Well whereas the Nike is a bit more Built up and you feel the plate in it You feel the extra rigidity which does Help on long runs but maybe isn't quite As fun on General daily training as the Adidas could have them both there in Your house and pick them depending on Mood or the exact run you're going for Obviously there a bit of an outlay to Get both of them here given that there Is some overlap and there are some Differences here that might make them Better suited different types of Runners And Runners who have different Preferences as well like say if you're a Heavier Runner or a newer Runner or Runner of any kind of stability concerns I' look at the Nike Zoom 6 first I think It's a more stable shoe it's a very Capable allrounder and you get a little Bit more support from it all around than You get from the Adidas also would say If you're someone who's doing like Marathon training you lots of long runs On your plan you're regularly going over 10 miles that kind of thing I think the Zoomfly 6 is probably a little bit more Suitable for that kind of training then If you're swinging mostly six to Shorter Runs you're doing lots of short sharp Speed work in particular you like you Know a nice soft feeling on your foot
Then the Adidas provides that it also Gives you a bit more ground feel it's a Bit more direct under the forfeit in Particular which some might like Compared to you know the very builtup Feeling of running in the Nike so there Is a lot of overlap there is different Strengths there the as is lighter Nimbler more fun softer Nike is a very Effective shoe for long-distance Training runs and that kind of thing ads Also has the advantage of being a little Bit cheaper and is just flat out a very Fun shoe and a shoe that really has a Good vibe to it I always look forward to Running in and even though probably the Nike would be better suited for my Running because I do do a lot of Marathon training I do do a lot of long Runs and long sessions which the Nike Works for perfectly this is the one I'm Leaning towards you know in this verdict Just because I like running in it so Much I do lots of easy to steady daily Training runs and it does those superbly I don't think there's a better shuee on The market for it even then when it Comes on to some of my longer sessions Then I might look at using a full carbon Sho anyway so yeah maybe I'm going to Give this the Adidas but that's probably If you're looking for quite specific Fast training shoe in a rotation or You're just only stick to Shorter runs
In which case it's a great allrounder as Well if you're looking for one Allrounder to do everything in I do Think the Nike is a better shoe for that Especially if you're looking for a Standin racer for events like half Marathons and marathons zoomfly six does It a bit better looking at a 5k 10K Racer then i' get the Adidas and all Around yeah I really like the shoe so I Would go for the Adas but that's based On the fact I would have a rotation and I'd have another shoe in there to handle Really long session Adas isn't as well Suited to that something the Nike but I'd probably use another shoe for that Just have the Adidas it's so much fun For daily training so yeah I've copped Out a bit at the end there by not Picking the shoe that would be very Suitable for my training here but like I Say if you want an all round I do think The zoom 6 is the one to go for but I Really like the ads it's so much fun to Run in so it's the one I'd probably get [Music] Myself that's a comparison of the Adidas Evos and the Nike zoomfly 6 let us know What you think in the comments below Please like And subscribe ring the Little bell and we'll see you next time
