The Adidas Adizero Evo SL and Adidas Adizero Boston 12 are both versatile daily trainers that offer plenty of speed as well as enough comfort for easy runs. Nick is a fan of both shoes, but which should you pick if you just need one shoe to do it, or a fast daily trainer to add to your rotation? He gives his thoughts here.

Hello and welcome to run testers my name Is Nick and in this video I'm going to Be comparing the Adidas adero Evo SL and The Adidas ad zero Boston [Music] 12 the Boston 12 and the evos are both Really impressive lightweight versatile Shoes Boston is a fair bit older than The evl in fact it came out probably a Couple of years ago now I think the Boston 13 is likely to come out at some Point this year whereas evos is so new It hasn't really been properly released Yet there's a limited launch last year From Adidas but it's going to come out In you know greater numbers over the Next couple of months the Adidas eosl is A slightly cheaper shoe it cost £130 or $150 whereas the Boston 12 is £140 or $160 the eosl is lighter is 227 G or 7.9 O in my UK size 9 whereas the Boston is 259 G on 9.1 o in the same size you got A slight difference in the stacky and Drops with the evos in is a 6 mm drop With a stack height of 39 mm at the heel And 33 at the forefoot whereas the Boston is a 7 mm drop with a 38 mm stack Height at the heel and 31 at the 4ot so The evos we've just been testing out Lately is a nice new shoe with a very Simple but effective design it's fair to Say you've got a lightweight mesh upper With a little bit of padding around the Back of the shoe and an internal heel

Counter there as well you got a full Light Strike Pro midsole we believe this Is the light strike Pro that was used on The adios Pro 3 so it's not the softest Version of the phone that's come out With the latest shoes but but it is Still a very soft and bouncy foam as You'd expect from a shoe used in one of Ali's top Racing shoes then You' got two Kinds of rubber on the outside with Continental rubber used under the 4f Foot and then clear rubber used at the Back of the shoe there to cover the heel Then you have a sharp 4-foot rocker Design on the evos which is inspired by The Pro evo1 Racing shoe then with the Boston you've got a very lightweight Mesh upper with really not much padding At all this is a key difference between The two shoes normally uppers don't tend To figure so heavily in our comparisons But the upper is a really big difference Here Boston has a very racy feel not Much structural support around the back Of the shoe at all and you know very Thin tongue and in general it's not the Most comfortable upper but it you know Does give the shoe a quite racy feel Then you've got a dual density Mido on The Boston 12 so the top layer is Light Strike Pro same stuff that's on the eosl I believe you got energy rods running Through the Mido you can see them from The bottom of the shoe there that's in

Contrast to the evoo which doesn't have Adidas's energy rods in the midsole and The bottom layer on the Boston 12's Midsole is made from large strike 2.0 EVA foam then you got a continental Rubber out soole I think it's Continental all the way on the Boston 12 As opposed to having that clear rubber On the back like the Evo [Music] SL onto the fit of the two shoes there And this is a big difference between the Two shoes as I alluded to in the design Section first though a point on sizing I Would say they have similar length and All that so I would stick to your normal Running shoe size what you use for Adidas like I've got a uk9 here which is A US 9.5 both shoes have a fairly dared In design I would say there is maybe a Case for going half size up if you're Big for your size like I'm quite small For my size so I quite enjoy the fit of Both of these shoes I have a nice secure Lock down around the heeler midfoot for Running fast and just about enough room In the toes there but some might find They want that little bit of extra space At the front of the shoe however the Bigger difference in fit between the two Of them is just how much more Comfortable the evos is like you've got A bit of padding around the back of the Shoe there and in general just you know

A wider opening to it and it just makes It much more comfortable and easy to use As a daily trainer just put B shoes on To have a quick run in both of them and It's just noticeable how annoying and Hard it is to get the Boston 12 on I've Had to heel lock it as well to try and Make sure I don't get any heel rub and You all around you've got a much more Relaxed and comfortable fit from the Eosl while it still has the lockdown you Need for fast running whereas the Boston 12 fit I think just skews too much Towards the fit of like a racing shoe It's just not very comfortable we get a Bit of lace bite it's hard to get on and It's probably my main problem with the Shoe in general like it's all you know Surmountable you can get a decent fit if You fiddle around with a Boston 12 and Take your time to get it on but Certainly the Evo has a better fit and a More comfortable [Music] One on thest then and these are both Really good shoes that I've logged a lot Of miles in the Boston 12 is a really Good value super trainer with those Energy rods in there giving you that Slight extra bit of punch and propulsion Compared to the all phone design of the Adidas evos but it's a comfier bouncier Shoe with you know a lighter design so It's still really good for Speed work

They're both really exceptionally Versatile shoes and shoes that I really Have liked running in in pretty much Every way except for the upper on the Boston the Boston 12 was the shoe I had In first like I say over a year maybe Even a year and a half ago now and and I Used it for a nice range of training Runs including a long run you know a Hard session running I think 2K and 400 Meter reps and just really enjoyed it All around it's got a really Nimble and Fast ride you get pushed nicely onto the Deeper wedge of Light Strike Pro under The forefoot and get a nice amount of Rebound and punch from that aided by the Energy rods in the midsole which do Create a stiffer feel than you get on The evos and other shoes without any Kind of rods or plates in them and it Just means it's really versatile all Around like it is comfortable enough for Easy Paces I do think that Light Strike 2.0 foam it has on the bottom especially Under the heel gives you quite a nice Cushy feel get a pretty fast transition Then onto the for foot and that helps When you're running get any kind of Speed really you get a pretty smooth Ride when you're going along at easy Paces and there's a nice energetic feel If you are going to try and run fast in The shoot it's also got just a really Nimble feel all around I'd say which is

Helped no doubt by this very tight Fitting and racy upper you know it Doesn't feel actually heavier than the Evos to me even though it is and it Really does work at a range of Paces Skewing more towards speed work though I Would say like some won't find this Comfortable enough for easy runs and That kind of thing do think it works for Those aside from the upper but yeah it's Best probably at the faster end of daily Training I think that's probably true of The Evo sell as well but I do think it Has a lot more Comfort when it comes to Those easy runs and it's a less stiff Shoe because it hasn't got those energy Rods in there and the flexibility gives It a real feel of extra softness Under Foot especially under the for foot where You get a really nice bouncy soft Feeling there but it is still very Lightweight and fast like I've used this For several speed sessions I think it's Performed just as well as the Boston Ever did in speed sessions for me you Get pushed nicely onto that 4- foot Rocker get a lot of spring from the lar TR Pro foam in this midsole and then you Have that more relaxed feeling from both The upper and the foam when it comes to Easy runs because it is really soft and Squidy under F and really bouncy and Really fine it breaks in a little bit I Think both these shoes break in a little

Bit to be a little bit more flexible and Soft and it was probably more noticeable For me with the evos even though I did Like it on the very first run I didn't It I've liked it more and more over time And yeah it's a really nice shoe for Cruising around in that speed I think Without the rods in the midsole you do Lose a little bit of stability maybe Compared to the Boston like I haven't Really had any problems with this shoe As a neutral Runner myself but do think Has the potential to maybe collapse in With a little bit more than the Boston So while neither shoe is one I'd really Recommend people need stability maybe The Boston's a little bit better on that Front did do a short run wearing both Shoes at the same time and yeah you Really notice the extra flexibility and Comfort and like cushiness of the eosl When you're putting them head-to head They both have a nice Snappy turnover You get that stiffer feeling from the Boston though as you're pushed onto your Toes but like I say maybe it's got a Little bit of an edge for Speed work at Times but I didn't really feel it too Much and I've really enjoyed using the Eosl for fast runs so I do think it can Handle that range whil it's having that Extra Comfort compared to the Boston at Easy Paces was maybe the only real Sacrifice I think you get with evl being

That SL loss of stability so yeah when Running both them at the same time it Just felt bouncier and more fun than OSL To me even though the Boston still feels Good usl's full Light Strike Pro Mido Does deliver a more enjoyable ride I Would [Music] Say onto the verdict then and my winner Here is the Adidas evos and I think That's really true whatever kind of shoe You're looking for whe you're looking For just one shoe to do absolutely Everything in I think the Evo's greater Comfort and bounce you know doesn't come At the cost of speed really compared to The Boston because it is a lighter shoe With I think a more aggressive rocker so I think it's the shoe I'd pick if I was Looking for an allrounder and certainly If I was looking to round out a rotation I'd put both of these shoes kind of in The middle slot as versatile daily Trainers that do some of your speed work Do a lot of your daily runs and easy Runs as well but you know surrounded by Maybe a more comfortable shoe and a Faster racing shoe and the eosl does That job better than the Boston because The upper look more comfortable the Under feels more comfortable and I think It probably shines at a greater range of Paces than the Boston because of that Now all of this is not to say that the

Boston is a bad shoe so I think the Boston 12 is a great shoe I've raved About it before on the channel and you Know it's very good value as well and if You want that slightly stiffer feeling With the rods in there and a slightly More stable feeling as well like it is Worth considering as long as you can get On with this upper evos is a slightly Cheaper shoe as well though which does Give it another Advantage but I think That'll probably be offset because the Boston 12 is a little bit older so You're going to find it in sales quite a Lot and it's you know a really good Value shoe itself so all around I do Think the Adidas evos wins the day for Me in this comparison but there Certainly a lot to like about the Boston As well I wouldn't really go for both of Them though in a rotation I think if you Did want to get some kind of plated shoe Or a shoe rods or some kind of Stiffening agent to go along with the Evos I'd look at either a newer Super Trainer something like the Mac X2 or the Nike Zoom F six soing the ulph speed for I think have a bit more kind of punch Than the Boston while it's also being a Bit more comfortable or even just going And getting you know a full racing shoe To pair with the evos in a rotation with This doing you know loads of your Training runs and then you know a racing

Shoe to pick up the really fast miles And indeed your races so yeah I wouldn't Necessarily get both of these and I Think the Evo sell is a slightly better Shoe some little benefits to the Boston And it is good value itself but Evo is The one I'd [Music] Get that's a comparison of the Adidas Evl and the Adas Boston 12 let us know What you think in the comments below Please do like and subscribe ring the Little bell and we'll see you next time
