The adidas EVO SL takes learnings from the brand’s top-tier performance shoes to provide a ride that covers everything from easy runs to race day. That’s largely thanks to a thick layer of LIGHTSTRIKE PRO midsole foam that’s designed to be soft, comfortable and ensure a high level of energy return.
The Superblast 2 follows the hugely popular Superblast with a couple of key updates. The first of those is a new FF Blast Turbo+ midsole layer designed to be lightweight, bouncy and more durable, and there’s a redesigned engineered woven upper to improve comfort, breathability and fit.
Underneath that layer is the thinner FF Blast Plus Eco foam that works alongside the FF Blast Turbo+ to improve cushioning and comfort of the ride.

Hey Tommy from the Run testers in this Video we're going to be comparing the Adidas Evo SL with the ax super Blast 2 Let's take a [Music] Look the Adidas addz Evo SL costs £130 Or $150 it weighs 224 G or 7.9 Oz for Men in a size 8.5 and the drop is 6 mm The A6 super Blast 2 costs £200 or $200 It weighed in at 259 Gram on 9.1 o for Men in a size eight in the sample that We received and the drop is 8 Mm the Adidas Evo SL takes learnings From the Brand's top tier performance Shoes to provide a ride that covers Everything from Easy runs to race day That's largely thanks to a thick layer Of Light Strike Pro Midol foam that's Designed to be soft comfortable and Ensure a high level of energy return the Upper is made from a lightweight and Breathable engineered mesh to deliver Comfort and ventilation while the out Soole features a combination of Continental rubber on the forefoot and Clear rubber towards the heel of the Shoe aiming to provide grip and Protection without increasing the weight The shoe also has plenty of padding Around the ankle collar as well as a Slightly rocket geometry for smooth heel To tr transition the super Blast 2 Follows the hugely popular super blast With a couple of key updates the first
Of those is a new FF blast turbo plus Midsole layer designed to be lightweight Bouncy and more durable and there's a Redesigned engineered woven upper to Improve comfort breathability and fit Underneath that layer is the thinner FF Blast plus Eco foam that works alongside The FF blast turbo plus to improve the Cushioning and comfort of the ride There's also a slightly modified layer Of A6 grip outsold rubber that the brand Stes lower density than the previous Version and provides softer ride and the Sack height sees a 0.5 mm decrease Across the heel and toe in addition the Tongue design features a stretch mesh Wing construction to improve the fit and Reduce movement on the Run [Music] Comes to the fit of the two shoes I've Got my normal running shoe size in both Which is a uk9 with aex that's a US 10 And it's a US 9.5 for Adidas so as you Might expect it's a a slightly more Dialed in shoe but I was pretty happy in A nine in both of the shoes is potential To maybe go half a size up in the Adidas Evo SL especially if you're using UK Sizing but all around I would stick to Your normal size for these Brands I had Enough room with both of them really Comfortable hold around the heel and Midot with both of them as well and even On long runs even though the Adidas is a
Little bit tighter I didn't really feel That I needed any extra space or Anything like that so yeah I was happy In my normal size with both shoes I am a Little bit small for my size though so Maybe if you're big for your size Particularly with the Adidas you might Need a bit more room so Mike still got My super Blast 2 so I haven't got it to To hold up here um the fit in these Shoes Adidas Evo SL it's an Adidas shoe Um normally in the UK you'd size up half A size um in the adid Das in shoe that That's the same for the Evo SL it's Actually a bit roomier I found and a lot Of Adidas shoes it feels like there's a Bit more width to this shoe a bit more Space in the foref foot um but I did try A few different versions of the um Different sizes of the evl on in the Shop and it the 8.5 was perfect for my Um for my foot size um I definitely Wouldn't have stuck to my size UK size 8 So definitely go up half size in the Evos uh very comfortable shoe all around Um and as I say there's a little bit More space in it it doesn't not to the Point where it's hard to get a lock down Fit it's very easy to get lock down fit In the shoe but it just feels a little Bit roomier in the forefoot um the super Blast 2 found to be very Able Shoe is Does have quite a bit of space in the For foot of the shoe um but I uh I stuck
To my UK size8 and super glass 2 and I Found it worked perfectly for me uh so I Definitely stay to my UK size 8 in that Shoe it's a very comfortable shoe plenty Of support plenty of padding on it um so Yeah I would stay to my size in the Superlast 2 go half size up in the UK in The Adidas Evo SL so I've run over 100k in both of These shoes and I rate them both very Highly indeed I think they pretty much Stand out Ops on the market at large When it comes to you know training shoes That are really versatile and fun to run In that hopefully going to be Trend Setters but that said I think both of Them are going to be hard to match by Other brands we've seen a few Brands Attempt at the super blast already and It haven't really come close yet so yeah Certainly both shoes that OD rate very Highly indeed there are different styles Of shoes though for sure in terms of how They approach things with their design And also the price is very different Which immediately gives the leg up to The Adidas evos because it is so much Cheaper than the super blast so super Blast was the shoe of the two I tested First and certainly I liked it a lot When we first reviewed it but I didn't Quite love it as much as perhaps other People out there did but have grown to Like it more and more with extended
Testing I took it away on holiday at one Point and just used it for absolutely Everything and that's really its Strength it is incredibly versatile you Know is comfortable and enjoyable for Easy runs certainly has the pace of Faster runs too it's light enough and Responsive enough sometimes I feel it's Just a little bit big basically for fast Runs I think it actually is perfectly Fine for them but I don't really love The feel of it myself for faster runs at Times but you certainly can do them in The super blast and then you have loads Of extra versatility when it comes to Easy runs and that kind of thing because It is really comfortable and it is very Stable and supportive as well for such a High stack shoe and I think that is one Of the critical differences between it And the evos like you have got a more Stable ride with the super blast because Just seems a bit more structured and Firm underfoot in places it's definitely Got a stiffer ride as well and you've Got a bit more foam underfoot which may Help for you know cushioning and comfort On easy runs as well one thing to note About the support you get from both Shoes is certainly the narrowness of the Ads compared to the super loss Especially at the heel area and there's Quite a narrow section around the Midfoot as well that all just kind of
Lends the idea that it's not going to be As stable as a super blast especially as It also has a to foam in the midong the Adidas evos leans more towards the Speedy end of things like I've Absolutely love Runing in this this is Very much my kind of shoe it's a really Nimble feel to it and actually it is Cushioned enough and comfortable on slow Runs I find but then you've got loads of Pep and a really you know energized feel When you do want to up the pace foam is Softer on the ads I'd say than the Superar you definitely get a bit more Sink in and you get a nice propulsive Toe off as well with the sharper rocker Under the forefoot feels certainly a Little bit more explicitly Built For Speed than the super blast but actually Still does have a lot of Versatility I Think the evos L even if it's not Necessarily as stable and supportive as The super blast like do feel this soft Foam I could roll a little bit inwards In the evos SL but I have taken it for Some Flatout recovery runs and it's fine For that think maybe where the super Blast has a clear edge of me probably be On longer runs at easy Paces or even Progressive longer runs when you are Getting that extra kind of cushioning And support here but then when it comes To the fast off like I've done some Really Flatout sessions in the Addidas
Down the track and on the road and I've Been really impressed of it at all times Like it's really you know matched the Performance of full plated shoes for me And I think the superl can do those Sessions as well but I don't as Comfortable doing them in the superlast Just cuz it is a larger shoe and I much Prefer the more Nimble feel from the Adidas and the kind of extra ground Contact you have under the for foot in Particular where you have that sharp Rocker and a lot more you know less foam Under Foot than you get with the super Blast which it feels very good in cruise Control and you can Cruise along at Speed but when you really want to Accelerate and run hard I do like the Feel of the adids a bit more I did do a Short run wearing both shoes at the same Time and those differences are born out In that as well where you do feel a lot More kind of control and support from The super blast it feels great at Cruising along still really responsive Under the four but the Adidas feels a Bit softer under the heel and a little Bit more explosive and Nimble as you Rock onto that forefoot and yeah it does Feel like the more kind of dynamic shoe When it comes to running at PACE but you Do get that extra comfort and support From the super blast think on durability That's one area where you might expect
The super blast to have a bit of an edge Like I'm only 100K testing of both of These shoes I haven't seen any problems With them at all yet but you've got this Lower stack softer foam on the Adidas Light Strike Pro is a very Durable foam This iteration of it that was used in The adios Pro 3 but even so the super Blast really is built to last a very Long time and there's lots of reports of People taking them to you know hundreds And hundreds of miles so that might be Another little Edge for the super blast So this is a bit of a funny comparison When you look at the the prices of these Two shoes the super Blast 2 is far more Expensive than the Adidas eosl uh which Is a testament to the fact that the evos Is really punching above its weight when Uh or or price when it comes to Comparisons with other shoes the evos is Uh a shoe that is very versatile uh and It's it's all largely du to This Light Stri Pro mol foam um so like the Performance shoes that Adidas has it's a Shoe that really excels when you're Picking up the pace so intervals Tempo Sessions uh I think it would be a shoe That worked really well for race day Like the race day shoes that it's using The same foam as this softer midsole has A lot of eny return in it so you can Really feel it helping you when you're Trying to pick up the pace and
Accelerate um and it also feels like a Shoe that it's not massively aggressive It doesn't feel all the way like a Carplate raoe but it does feel like it's It's pushing you forward a bit and and Promp continue to to pick up the pace a Little bit although having said that I Have run easy runs in the shoe and I Find it to be very comfortable I think This foam's actually pretty pretty nice To wear for um easy runs um that might Not be the case for everyone but for me It was absolutely fine so I think it's a Very versatile shoe and sits perfectly In that that middle section of a of a Rotation where you want to shoe where You're predominantly doing faster stuff Um but you might go out and do you know Easier stuff as well and this shoe could Probably do it um so it's a very Versatile shoe uh the h transition on This is really nice very smooth bounces You forward a little bit feels quite Natural as well um not it doesn't feel Like it's moving your feet into a Position that is unnatural is unnatural It just feels like it's prompting you Forward nice nice little drop to um get Get you on slightly on your toes um but Really really is conducive to um those Faster sessions superlast 2 is similar In a lot of ways what I'd say about Superlast 2 is it's a little bit more Rigid than the um that's evos so the
Ride that you get is slightly different The superlast 2 doesn't work Particularly well for me for Interval Sessions where I'm doing shter faster Reps it feels like the super Blast 2 Really needs you to be running a Consistent pace and it works perfectly For that the ride in the super Blast 2 Is very very smooth um and if you're Running if you're training for a Marathon and you're doing lots and of uh Faster efforts at your marathon pace It's a great shoe for that especially if You don't want to use a car plate shoe For those sessions so it's a shoe that Is very smooth when you're running at um A consistent pace which for me marathon Training would be about 4 minute 20 km Helps you to do that doesn't feel Massively aggressive it's not a overly Soft shoe either it's just a very sits Nicely in the middle and just gives you A lovely turnover um and just feels like It's helping you to maintain a Consistent Pace without being overly Aggressive or anything like that so Slightly different use cases for both of These shoes I think really this uh the Ls evos is very much tailored towards Lots of different runs really but it Does really well at those intervals as Well so short sharp efforts it works Really well because of that extra bounce In the midsole foam uh and and the
Lightness of the shoe whereas superl 2 I Don't feel I get that um until I get to A point where I'm I'm maintaining that Consistent Pace um outsole on both these Shoes is very good I haven't superlast 2 Here but um it's a solid out soole had No issues with it at all uh and no Issues with grip or anything like that Uh the Evo SL um the front section of The shoe is continental and it's really Really good it looks quite smooth when You when you look at the outs Soo of the The Adidas eosl but it doesn't feel like That when you're out on um on the wet Ground or uh when you're running up up And down Hills it's very good at Gripping um and surprisingly so for such A nice smooth looking outso which is Actually pretty thin layer of rubber as Well so really solid outside on the Adidas Evo SL when it comes to Pure Performance This is a very tricky verdict for me Because these are both absolutely Outstanding shoes I really love using With the Adidas it was love at first run Like I really enjoyed using it from day One and the superl last like I said it's Grown on me more and more especially When I used it for just everything on a Trip away and you know they're both Outstanding shoes and both certainly Accent all rounders of maybe slightly Different areas where they excel in it
Be lovely to have both in a rotation but I think it's a lot of money to do that Especially if you also want maybe a pure Recovery shoe and something like a Carbon plate racing shoe for race day I Think super blast has an edge in certain Areas like I said I think it will suit Heavier Runners a bit better than the Adidas I think anyone who needs a little Bit of support at all will prefer the Super blast and if you're focused on a Lot of long miles grinding out miles the Super blast just eats those up and makes Them really fun and it has the pace of Fast up as well doing a lot more kind of Speedy work and you like the feel of a Nimble shoe when it comes to your faster Training a little bit more ground feel Under the forefoot you know the Adidas Provides that in Spades and you know I Think it is the better choice if you're Looking for a pure speed trainer to add To your lineup the Evo would also be the Better choice if you're looking for a Standing racing shoe I'd say especially If for distances up to the marathon I Think it'd be pretty even if you are Looking at Marathon racing in particular If you're just looking for one Sho to do Absolutely everything I probably would Lean towards a super blast overall there Are lots of runs where I think it would Be the slightly better choice whereas The alas is a bit more targeted at that
Speed workor that said if you are a Lightweight Runner and don't really have Concerns about stability I do think the ODS is a very good shoe for those easy Daily runs as well actual verdict and I Would pick the Adidas out of these two Though just because it covers so much And it is so much cheaper you know you Could pick this up and then go and find A nice cushioned recovery shoe in a sale Somewhere and probably still coming Under the price of the super blast but You know super blast absolutely Outstanding shoe if you pick it up it's Going to suit lots of people probably a Little bit better than the Adidas which Is that little bit more lightweight and Less supportive but certainly both Fantastic shoes just in my rotation Probably I'd find an easier for the evos So in many videos I talk about how the Super Blast 2 is one of my favorite Shoes it still is I think it's a Fantastic shoe but like um many of you Commenting it's a very hard shoe to get Old HOV but it's also a very expensive Shoe adid OSL has come in and it's a Shoe that I'm just as likely to pick up For a lot of my training sessions as the Uh super Blast 2 talked about the super Blast 2 being very good at those Consistent Paces where you're trying to Maybe do marathon training or anything Like that uh the ado is absolutely fine
At those um but also I feel it's got a Bit more to it a bit more energy return To it uh and just a bit poppier at those Short distances as well so I think There's a bit more to this shoe uh which Is why I talk about the ls SL really Punching above its price range when it Um comes to comparing with with other Shoes it's a fantastic all rounded shoe And for that price an absolute steal if You're looking for a really versatile Fast training option as part of your Rotation or if you're just looking for One shoe and then predominantly you're Doing faster sessions uh and even racing In it so for me my choice between these Two shoes is uh if I was basing it Without price I would go for the ads Evo SL but with the price it's obviously Going to be the Evo SL because it's so Well just so good value for for what It's offering so definitely added ass Evo sale for me all the way that's it From us on this video thanks a lot for Watching don't forget to like subscribe And click that little bell and if you go To the catch below you can find to our Podcast which comes out a couple of Times each month thanks lot for watching Catch you next time Oh
