The adidas EVO SL takes learnings from the brand’s top-tier performance shoes to provide a ride that covers everything from easy runs to race day. That’s largely thanks to a thick layer of LIGHTSTRIKE PRO midsole foam that’s designed to be soft, comfortable and ensure a high level of energy return.
The Neo Zen is a daily training shoe that features a thick stack of MIZUNO ENERZY NXT – the brand’s soft, Nitrogen-infused foam designed for energy return and comfort. That midsole works alongside the Smooth Speed Assist technology found in the brand’s performance shoes to promote good running form and efficiency.

Hey Tommy from the r testers in this Video I'm going to be comparing the Adidas Evo SL and the mauno Neo Zen Let's have a look at these two [Music] Shoes the Adidas addz Evo SL costs £130 Or $150 it weighs 224 G or 7.9 Oz for Men in a size 8.5 and the drop is 6 mm The mauno neoen costs £130 or $150 it Weighs 243 G or 8.6 Oz for men in a size 8 and the drop is 6 [Music] Mm the Adidas Evo SL takes learnings From the Brand's top tier performance Shoes to provide a ride that covers Everything from Easy runs to race day That's largely thanks to a thick layer Of Light Strike Pro Midol foam that's Designed to be soft comfortable and Ensure a high level of energy return the Upper is made from a lightweight and Breathable engineered mesh to deliver Comfort and ventilation while the outso Features is a combination of Continental Rubber on the forefoot and clear rubber Towards the heel of the shoe aiming to Provide grip and protection without Increasing the weight the shoe also has Plenty of padding around the ankle Collar as well as a slightly rocket Geometry for smooth heel to trow Transition the Neo Zen is a daily Training shoe that features a thick Stack of mauno eny next the Brand's soft
Nitrogen infused foam designed for Energy return and comfort that midsole Works alongside the smooth speed Assist Technology found in the Brand's Performance shoes to promote good Running form and efficiency designed for Everything from Easy runs to faster Training sessions the shoe features a Sock likee knitted upper for a Comfortable fit while a high-r removable In sock adds additional padding to the Ride the x10 outsole is made from a Durable carbon rubber built to improve Durability and high use areas as well as Provide a good level of traction in Varied Conditions so the fit for me in these Two shoes is very different the Muno Neo Zen is a really roomy shoe there's lots Of extra space in it uh around the sides There's lots of space before my big toe Um it's a very comfortable shoe it's Very nice to running but i' definitely Say that it it fits a bit big so if I Were you I'd probably go down half a Size in this shoe um the rest of the Shoe it's got this upper which is this Sort of stretchy um sock like material Um because of the bigger size it is it Is a bit tricky to get a nice lock down Fit in it initially I didn't have a Problem after pulling it down a little Bit but I definitely look at getting Half size down in the Muno neoen uh the
Adidas Evo SL um the opposite really It's an Adidas shoe you normally in the UK have to size up at least half a size In Adidas shoes I don't do it in all Adidas shoes but most of them I do tend To find that um going up half a size is The right option um and I did try a few Different sizes of this shoe on in the Shop um and I opted for going up half a Size in it because even though it felt Okay when I first put them on when I um Started to press my toes down forwards My toes did press against the edge so go Up half size in the Adidas Evo SL okay so these are two shoes that are Priced the same in the UK and if you Look at the website they say similar Things about what their designed to do Um the Adidas Evo SL is a shoe that uses Some of the technology from the more Premium shoes uh like the um the pro and The um Pro Evo it's assu that Is very much designed for versatility um I absolutely love testing this year I Think it's a fantastic um shoe from Adidas probably one of the best shoes They've released in a very long time um It's a shoe that has a nice level of Cushing in it it's quite bouncy it's Quite soft um but there's a a bit of Kick to it as well it's definitely a Shoe that's more suited to picking up The pace training runs going a bit Faster um and I think for a lot of
People you you could race in this Happily um probably any distance um if If you didn't want to give for a carbon Plate shoe you wanted to save some money Uh it's definitely a good option that It's a fantastic entry into the Adidas collection and for the price it's An absolute steal the Muno neoen now This shoe is similar things on the Website um talk about the shoe being Versatile and and having energy and Speed um what I did find about this shoe Is that um I'm a massive fan of the Mauno um Neo Vista I think that's a Fantastic shoe probably one of my Favorite ever shoes when it comes to Versatile training it's a great shoe for Picking up the pace training faster also Can do easy runs uh really really good All round the shoe that um one of the Ues I've tested over the past year or so U Mazo neoen is essentially a um a Version of the Neo Vista without the Plate running through it and that does Give quite a different ride to the shoe Um the plate in the the ne Vista really Does stabilize the shoe a bit and mean That it s gives you a a better level of Responsiveness um and means you can pick Up the pace a lot uh uh more easily uh The Neo Zen is actually because you Remove that plate it becomes Significantly softer this is very soft Foam in um the neoen and without the
Plate it really does compress quite a Lot so what I found in the shoe is that For easy runs very nice um nice and Comfortable what what happens when you Pick up the pace in it or you're running Longer in it um you can really feel that That's that Mido compressing and it Almost feels like you're losing a bit of Energy it does feel like there's a bit Of energy return in it but I think the Net gain of the energy return is Lessened um the more that you running it Because it compresses so much you Actually feel quite a lot closer to the Ground um and you're not getting that Sort of bounce back uh off of it it Doesn't seem to be taking the energy in And giving you back out it seems to be Sapping it up a bit um so even though They're designed for similar things Similar cost um they're actually quite Different in how the ride performs um I Definitely say that the evos is a very Very versatile Sho um and can do a lot Especially considering it hasn't got a Plate in it um I think this is a shoe That a lot of people are going to go for As their as their fast shoe option even Race option whereas the Muno neoen I Don't think it's going to be a fast Training option for a lot of people and Definitely not a raate you uh especially For longer distances um but is a very Comfortable fun shoe to run in um I just
Don't think it's as versatile as the Evo SL uh the outso on these shoes um so the Um evos has got a similar design to what You get in something like the pro Evo It's it's quite a a thin layer of rubber Um they've got Continental rubber on the Front and at the back there clear rubber Um which surprisingly even though it Doesn't have loads of tread on it or Anything it's actually pretty good at Grip I've I've been running in the wet Quite a lot in this um and not had any Issues at all uh also I have a problem With most of my shoes where I rip off The back section when it when I'm Running in race shoes I always pull off The back of the rubber no issues of that Uh on the evos so a surprise inly sturdy And grippy outsole for the Evo SL Despite the um the fact that it's quite A lean layer of rubber the outo on the Muno neoen it's um very good it's it's a Good layer of rubber on here uh there's A big bit of exposed midsole but you Don't really touch that because it's Indented into the shoe so it's going to Take you a while to get through that Rubber to start really wearing down that Mids Soole okay so my ver on these two shoes Is a pretty simple one because despite The price despite what the website says About these shoes they are very Different shoes for my style of running
Um eosl fantastic versatile shoe said in The review that it's punching above its Uh price point £1 130 you're looking at Um shoes that this is this is far Superior to I would actually put this in The same leagues as things like the Super Blast 2 it's it's that versatile And that good for training uh at Different paces and intervals and um Tempo training all those sorts of things I think it's I think it's an absolute Steal for that price and it's um a great Choice if you're looking for a Non-plated fast training shoe or even a Race shoe that you want a bit cheaper or Um you don't want to have a plate in Your your R shoe fantastic all around Also it's good for easy runs as well I've been using this quite a bit for Easy runs and I've been enjoying them I've not had any issue with them at all Uh the phone doesn't um cause any Problems when running uh at a slower Pace so yeah I think it's an all around Fantastic shoe and probably one of the Best options um or likely to be one of The best options this year as as an Allrounder the Muno neoen um the Muno Neo Vista I would have compared very Closely with the Adidas Evo SL I'd use Them for similar things um and I think They both got a good level of Versatility and Bounds in them um the Neo Zen even though it's pretty similar
To the ne Vista I don't think it does That I think by taking that plate out You've turned it into a shoe that is Really more designed for comfortable Easy runs daily miles where you're not Really picking up the pace too much um Very com shoe to run in but I just don't Think that Mido without the plate um Really offers the versatility of the Neo Vista so okay shoe not too expensive so It's not going to break the bank uh if You just want to use it for those sorts Of easy runs and comfortable runs um and I also would say that if you are a Heavier Runner you're probably going to Really compress that foam even more than I do and I'm not particularly heavy so You might notice more of a uh squishing Of the foam um and less energy return Back off of it but yeah basically Mao Nen if you want a comfortable nice shoe You like really soft midsoles you're not Planning on doing anything too fast Absolutely fine very comfortable Enjoyable shoe but maybe go to the near Vist if you want to go faster and then The Adidas evos use it for everything It's just a fantastic shoe so I'm Definitely picking the Adidas Evo SL out As the winner out of these two shoes for Me um and by far the best value shoe I've tested for a very long time that's It for me on this versus thanks a lot For watching don'tget to like subscribe
