The Adidas Supernova Prima is the latest addition to the revamped Supernova family, joining the Supernova Rise and the more stability-focused Supernova Solution.
Sitting above the Rise and the Solution in terms of price, the Supernova Prima is a max cushioned daily trainer that packs in more DreamStrike+ foam than the Rise and promises to be a daily trainer shoe fit for long runs, recovery runs and easy runs.
Tester Mike has spent some early running time with the Prima to find out if Adidas has potentially added a great max cushioned daily trainer to the Supernova ranks.

Puma Magnify Nitro 2 Review:
Saucony Triumph 22 Review:
Hey this is M from the Run testers and This is our first run review of this the Adidas Supernova Prima so here's all you need to know About the Adidas Supernova Prima it's Best described as a Max cushion daily Trainer in the mold of shoes like the Pum magnify Nitro 2 socon Tri 22 and the On cloud eclipse the Supernova prate Comes in at £150 in the UK or $60 in the US making it more expensive than the Supernova rise and the more stability Focused Supernova Solution the drop on the prier is 8 mm So that's a change from the 10 mm drop On the Supernova rise and is less than a Host of rival Max cushion daily trainers Like the Triumph and Brooks Glycerin Stack Heights measuring at 38 mm at the Hill and 30 mm at the 4 foot Weight Wise It comes in at 281 G in a UK men's size 8 making it heavy than the Supernova Rise as well that's largely to do with The bigger stack of Adidas's peber based Dream strike plus foam in place with an Extra 2 mm at the heel and the 4ot below That lie support rods that are wider Than the ones used on the Supernova rise To offer a more stable feel overall the Out soole focuses on the midfoot and the Four foot of the shoe with the heel more Exposed to that extra foam it's Engineered mesh for the upper with a Skinny gusted tongue matching up plenty
Of padding at the heel Collar so in terms of fits I've got my Supernova premi a UK size 8 that's my Typical running shoe size that is the Same shoe size that I had the Supernova RIS in and much like that shoe I think In my first couple of runs I can't say That I've had any issues with the fit I Think going true to size should be okay I've got quite skinny narrow feet this Isn't a massively wide shoe in any Stretch of the imagination I think it's Pretty regular fitting I would say I Would say compared to that shoe this Maybe is a little bit more spacious up Front in the toes and maybe kind of Lends itself a will lend itself to being A shoe as a bit of a better fit for kind Of longer runs but generally elsewhere In the shoe it feels very similar I Think you get into the midfoot it's a Similar kind of hold the lacing is Similar to Supernova rise has changed in Terms of the tongue so you've got this Kind of gusted tongue which I think you Know improves in terms of that kind of Lockdown I mean I can't say had issues With the lockdown On The supern Rise it Maybe he's a little bit more snug and More comfortable at that part of your Foot but ultimately I think yeah it's Fine going with that kind of slightly Skinnier tongue here on the Supernova Prima then you're getting you know a
Good amount of padding here A Generous Amount of padding I'd say in the hill Color maybe Narrows a little bit more Compared to Supernova r at the killes uh But ultimately I haven't had any issues In terms of like have heel rub anything In terms of issues in terms of kind of Lockdown I've gotten a couple of runs That I've done in it so I think for me I Think probably going through toon is Shoe is going to be fine for most people It's a pretty regular kind of fitting Shoe I'd say nothing out of the ordinary In terms of what I've seen in a couple Of runs so yeah I would say go through To size based on my initial Testing okay so in terms of my running Time in the Supernova Primo so far so I've done a couple of runs in this shoe Now I've done a 30 minute run and an Hour run both at pretty similar Pace Pretty easygoing Pace I did the 30-minute run and 840 minute my Pace I Did the hour run slightly quicker but Not much quicker and then I've kind of Dropped it down to 8 10 8 minute mile Pace in that hour run as well just Really trying to treat the Supernova PR In a way I think maybe it's going to be Best suited in terms of the runs it's Probably best designed for I think it's Very much in the mold of the Supernova Rise the other Supernova shoe I've used Well it's going to be a daily trend of
Shoe one that you can throw on and it's Going to be a shoe that you can really Get some time in your feet and just Bank Those miles U but I think the difference Here for me is that having that extra Amount of dream strike plus uh foam in Here here maybe it's going to give it a Bit more um scope to be more comfortable Over longer distances or running a Little bit longer in this shoe now I Think my experience with the Supernova Rise is that was a pretty solid shoe uh Daily Trainer shoe at a pretty good Price just probably not massively Memorable not a shoe that particularly I've gone to grab again but I think if I Did you know I'd have a good run in it It just wouldn't be as memorable some Other kind of cushion daily trainer Shoes around this price or maybe a Little bit more um I think the key Things for me the super nova Prima it Feels like it's very much in that kind Of um remit of what the Supernova rise Is about I think from an upper point of View it's very comfortable it's a pretty Good weight I think as well for a daily Trainer as well um I think what you're Getting here in terms of the midsole and The ride I think again very similar to The Supernova rise I think it's a good Level of Bounce without it being Aggressively bouncy I think it's pretty Stable I think having the kind of
Support rods there obviously helps to Deliver that kind of more stable feel so It's very controlled very balanced in Terms of that feel the key thing for me Is you're getting that extra dream Strike foam in here and it's at the four Foot here which I think you didn't have On the Supernova rise and maybe when if You wanted to run longer in that shoe Maybe it didn't feel as comfortable to Do that I feel like with this shoe it's Going to be a bit of a better balance in Terms of that and having that extra fa In the full foot I think does make a Make it for to be a nicer feeling in General compared to Supernova rise I Still think it's characteristics of the Supernova rise here in the Prima I think It's not too far removed from that shoe But ultim getting a bit more that Cushion now for me what I found I think Particularly in the hour run that I did I maybe wanted just a little bit more Life in that foam just at that end when Maybe my legs are tiring maybe just Something that's kind of pushed me Through to the end and I feel like while You do get more fo here I don't think it You know I felt like it was lacking that A little bit I feel like that dream Strike plus maybe is not quite there for Me yet I think they are definitely good Characteristics I think there's a good Level of balance there in terms that
Phone I do think it can be an enjoyable Foam to run you know have underneath Your feet and I think having more of it Is a positive I just think yeah in that Hour run I just wanted maybe it to have A little bit more life in it because I Think all the the other ingredients here The elements of here it feels like it's Going to be a nice daily Trainer shoe to Use um it's just again whether it's Going to stand out from the other shoes That kind of sit in and around this shoe Now now in terms of the so unlike Adidas's kind of top tier kind of racing Shoes speed Focus Shoes things in the Adi Zero range this doesn't have that Kind of Continental Rubber outo and just Do things slightly differently for the Supernova range and this is a bit of a Continuation with the Premo from what we Saw in the Supernova rise where the Rubber that you're getting here isn't Fully covering the out soole on the Supernova Prima it starts kind of mainly Dedicated to the for foot kind of Stretches back but that does leave areas Exposed of the kind of where you get Those kind of support rods and that foam As well now in terms of the runs that I've done in the kind of 30-minute run I Did that was a mixture of payments Slightly lighter trails and it was Absolutely fine from a gripping point of View the hour run similar kind of
Terrain I did go out on the beach and Kind of go out on some sand you know Slightly softer surface ultimately and Kind of changing between those kind of Two um surfaces was absolutely fine now I will say that I said I've only done a Couple of runs in it I am starting to See a little sign of where on the kind Of exposed areas when it kind of Stretches back to the kind of back of The shoe and around that where that kind Of out soole kind of rubber kind of Finishes so so yeah I think for me add Supernova Prima it feels very much in Keeping with the Supernova rise where it Is that you know what you'll getting From the upper what you're getting in Terms of that midsole feels very similar I think the main thing for me here is That because you're getting a little bit More Fame in the forefoot of this shoe I Think it feels a little bit more Balanced in terms of shoe that if you're Going to run longer in it it's going to Give you something that's going to feel A little bit more comfortable for those Longer runs and ultimately is going to Be a shoe that you can probably slightly Mix the paces up in not that I have yet But I do feel like the weight and what You're getting in terms of the ride and What you're getting in the Midol will Allow you to do that it's whether it's Going to do enough to kind of stand out
Against other shoes I think obviously It's going to be going up against Particularly when you can kind of factor In the price here but I'll get into that In my initial Review okay so some initial thoughts on The Adidas Supernova Prima after a Couple of very easy paced runs now I Would say as I said in my kind of you Know summer in my run test I do think it Very much is in keeping with the Supernova Prima this isn't a speed Focused daily trainer this is as aidas Kind of refers to it as a a range for Everyday runers so maybe people are not Particularly worrying about running kind Of super fast kind of times wanting to Race wanting to kind of train for a Marathon they just want to go out and Run in a shoe that's going to feel Comfortable from upper midsole to out Sole I think from that point of view When you you know kind of factor that in It does feel nicer it feels nicer to me Than the Supernova R it feels like it is A supernova shoot I'd feel more Comfortable running more timeing Compared to the Supernova rise that's Kind of what I'm seeing so far and in Terms of having that extra load of um Dream strike plus foam in there is it Really dramatically changing the Experience from what we got the Supernova eyes I I do think it's
Different is it hugely different maybe Not as I said I still think it is in Keeping with what we've seen with the Supernova rise I do think it's going to Be another solid daily Trainer shoe from Adas in this Supernova range it's going To be relatively affordable when you Kind of thinking a grand scheme of Things of where daily trainers are going In terms of price uh but ultimately is It going to be one that's going to Stand Out Among the crowd of these kind of Cushioned or big kind of cushioned daily Trainer shoes I'm not sure maybe just I'm still hoping maybe for a bit more From dream strike Plus in general this Is a step in the right direction to have More of it and I think maybe it just Needs tweaking in places maybe that it Will evolve over time to give it Something that maybe feels a little bit More like we're getting from Light Strike and you know that feeling what We're getting from Adidas's kind of more Racing Focus shoes that are a bit more Lively in general so yeah a good couple Of runs in the Supernova Prima am I Blown Away by it just yet no but I'm win To reserve judgment and maybe see how it Feels over some longer runs but Goods Nothing special just yet um but yeah We'll see how we get on after a few more Runs in the Adidas Supernova Prima okay So there you have it that's some initial
Thoughts on the Adidas Supernova Prima Only a couple of runs in so obviously Very much early Impressions and we will Have some of the other testers getting The shoot as well in so we will do a Multi-tester review of the Supernova Premier now in the meantime if You' got Any questions about this shoe or shoes You want to see it compared to as as Well let us know in the comments as Always like And subscribe hit that Little bell to find out about our latest Videos and yeah we'll see you the next Rantes video [Music]
