This is the follow-up to one of the most Soughtafter Jordan 3es of all time. But Is it as good as the original? Let's Find Out. So, inside this box is a pair of Sneakers that I'll be honest, I never Thought I was going to be able to grab For a lot of different reasons. Mainly Because it's going to be probably super Limited, and the last pair that released Back in 2018 was incredibly limited. Before we dive into this though, I do Want to give a huge thank you to Takeoutny for letting me borrow this Pair to give you guys an early review. Takeout NY is an awesome store in New York. We've Done pop-ups there. They're great People. And uh huge thank you for Letting me borrow this pair of sneakers To give you guys that early look. Without further ado, let's dive into It. So, got some paper. Oh, these are sick. Oh my gosh. I just Saw the edge of the Box. Look at these. Oh my Goodness. Crazy. So, this, as you guys Know from the title and the thumbnail, Is the Air Jordan 3 Soul 2.0. And the Box comes in this beautiful, well, at
Least the top half of the box comes in This beautiful sky print with a Jumpman Printed in the center in red, in a Glossy red. Actually, the sky is sort of More of a a satin finish. And then Around the edges of the box, you've got This really nice gray elephant print. This is this is fire. This is a super Fire pair of shoes. Oh my gosh. I wish This was my pair. But because of the Limited nature of this shoe, Unfortunately, this is a pair that that They uh they cannot give me, especially Because I think the release procedures Are different depending on locations and Different things like that. So, even Though there is apparently like a set Release date for the shoes, it's Possible that that's just on the Sneakers app and that different stores Will be getting them at different times. I'm not totally sure, but on the front Of the box, we've got the size tag right There. The official name of the shoe is Air Jordan 3 Retro OG SP, and the Official colorway is white Black Sport Royal. Let's pop this box open. Oh my Gosh, I can't. The details on this box Are ridiculous. Here we Go. Oh my gosh, look at that. That's Crazy. So, you've got sole inspired Paper and then the ribbon that's Actually holding the paper in place is Inspired by Michael Jordan's jersey or I
Guess the edges of Michael Jordan's Jersey. So, the reason that this shoe Has this inspiration is because the Original version of the shoe that Released back in 2018 was designed to be Inspired by the 1988 Soul Olympics or The South Korean Olympics that were Hosted in Seoul. And in the same year, 1988, Michael Jordan also won the slam Dunk contest. So, while they didn't take Place at the same time, uh technically They were in the same year and it's two Pretty large events. So, let's pop these Out. There we go. There we go. Let's see The shoes. Let's see Them. They're wrapped up so Nicely. Oh my gosh. These Are way nicer in person than I was Expecting. Oh my Goodness. Look at these. Wow. The Details on these are ridiculous. I mean, Look at the suede around the heel area. That's insane. You've got the Korean Flag, the South Korean flag right there On the tongue. Really, really nice hit. Oh my goodness, these are fire. And then They went for the super aged midsole on This one, which I'm actually not mad at. Are there any like laces or anything Inside the box? Doesn't look like it. Pull out this side of the pair. Beautiful. And then on this side of the Pair, you've just got the jump man on The tongue. We'll talk about all this
Later on in the review. Actually got Some Korean uh text right there on the Back of the tongue, which is cool. Is That on this one, too? It is very nice. These are fire. The red is a lot less Saturated than I was expecting. I'll be Honest with you. And there's nothing Wrong with that. I just in images it Looks like it's a bright red, but it's More of like a a pinkish velvety red. I Don't know really how to describe it. These are really sick. Okay, so don't Know if I should be doing this, but I'm Only going to do it in here. I'm going To try these shoes on, see how they fit, So I can give you guys some sizing Advice. Don't tell anybody I did this. I Don't know if I was supposed to, but I'm Going to. So, without further ado, let's Try these guys on. All right, so I got a New pair of shoes to show you. These are The Air Jordan 3 Soul, as in Korea, Soul 2.0. 0. So you've got the South Korean Flag there on the tongue. These are Based off of the 1988 Olympics that took Place in Seoul, which is pretty cool. What are your thoughts? Your initial um Vibes, the vibe check. Um I mean, I Liked the colors before I knew where They came from, too. But it's cool. The Meaning behind it is really cool, too. Right. Mhm. Yeah. Apparently, so the First one that dropped in 2018 was like Crazy hyped. And uh it completely sold
Out. I don't think these will be as Hyped. I mean, they're still going to be Very hyped. I don't think they'll be as Limited, but they're still going to be Probably difficult to get. So, I don't Get to keep this pair, unfortunately. But fire, though, right? Yeah. Rating Out of 10. Yeah. Um, I like them. I Guess I don't know, like 7.5. Oh, okay. Cool. A little bit lower than usual, but Not bad. I like them. I like that the Color is like around the tongue and the Ankle, like a little more subtle, right? To be fair, a lot of the shoes I've been Showing you, I knew you were going to Like. These ones are more of a wild Card. I wasn't sure if you were going to Be feeling them. No, they're cool. So, There you go. A good way to uh rock your Brand new Air Jordan 3 soles. Okay, Let's try these on really quick. See how They fit. See how they feel. Comfy, are They comfy? Yeah. I mean, I think it's The new material. Could be the new socks To be fair, but I think it's the um
Could be that velvety sort of material. I'm not totally sure, but sizing wise, They feel just like every other pair of Air Jordan 3s. I would say true to size, Go with your standard Air Jordan 3 size. I was trying to wear a blue hoodie to Kind of match with the blue in the shoe. How do you feel like was it It's not the Exact same blue, but it's No, but There's not that much of it, so it does Look good. It looks like a little pop. Okay, cool. Yeah, true to size is what I'd suggest. Or any Air Jordan 3 size That you usually grab, just grab that in These. I don't think this is the kind of Shoe that you will be able to try on in Store because it's going to be so Limited. At least that's what I expect. So, I'd say go true to size and then Worst case scenario, if it doesn't fit You, trade it or sell it or whatever. But just go with your standard Air Jordan 3 size. You're good to go. Okay. On foot, any changes to your verdict? No, I like it. They're nice. Cool. Okay. That being said, I I don't I still don't Know what to say about going back to the Studio. We're in the studio. What should I I guess I'll say uh done. The original Air Jordan 3 Soul released in 2018 for The 30th anniversary of the 1988 Soul Olympics. That shoe, which I Unfortunately was never able to get my Hands on, came in an all-white tumbled
Leather upper accented by a white Midsole, red sock liner, blue hits Around the heel, and then a white Outsole. And of course, the marquee Detail on that shoe was a South Korean Flag embroidered into the tongue. That Pair was an incredibly limited overseas Exclusive release. In fact, it was so Limited that some of you guys probably Didn't even realize that it released. Pairs of the 2018 release, even with the 2.0's coming out, are currently listed For $1,000 on the low end and up to $18,000 on the high end in obviously Some of the more obscure sizes. Now, Depending on the time that you watch This video, prices could change. So, if You want to check out the resale prices For those shoes or even these new 2.0's That have either dropped or will drop by The time you're watching this video, Make sure to check out all of these Shoes through the YouTube shopping tab On your screen. Now, the shoe did Release once again in 2020 as a women's Exclusive release. But even for those Pairs, prices are still very high Because that pair was also very limited. Now, finally, 7 years after the first Drop, it seems like Jordan Brand is Upping the ante. Not only are they Releasing a 2.0 0 version of the shoe in The United States. They're also Upgrading some of the materials on the
Sneaker. Leaks of this shoe were pretty Hard to come by. In fact, the first time That we actually saw a pair on feet was When JH Hope of BTS was wearing a pair At a Lakers Golden State game. However, That pair could be a friends and family Variant because it looks a lot more Cream than the actual retail release Does. Now, for this public 2.0 drop, the Release information is murky, but it Looks like they should be releasing Either on the 15th or 17th of May or Around then for a retail price of $200. And you know what? I got to be honest. After that unboxing that we just did, I'm surprised that Jordan Brand didn't Upcharge for these. Don't get any ideas Jordan Brand. But seriously, the Packaging and just the feel of the Materials. I mean, this feels like a More expensive shoe. Again, though, Release details are murky, so it's Possible that the retail price is going To be higher than this. I in my head was Thinking like 250 before I found out That it was going to be around $200. So, Who knows? But I'm hoping for that $200 Number. But with all of that being said, Let's actually dive into the shoes Themselves and find out about some of The materials that make up this Incredible 2.0 version of the Soul 3s. Starting off around the toe of the Sneaker, you've got this elephant print
Mud guard that comes in a very hairy Suede. It definitely feels nicer, or at Least seems nicer than the suede that Jordan brand usually puts on elephant Print, but uh, you know, who knows? The Design or the pattern of the elephant Print is a little bit different than a Standard pair of threes. Usually, it Looks more like a press texture that They've kind of dropped ink into. In This case, it seems like the elephant Print actually the lines of the elephant Print are suede as well, but instead of Being black, they're actually more of a Very dark sort of grayish cream color. Now, above the elephant print, you've Got a very slightly off-white tumbled Leather on both the bottom half and the Top half of the upper. And each panel Actually has yellow, or I guess very Dark cream edges, which give it a very Aged look, which I really like. It adds A nice contrast to the upper. This is a Detail that Jordan Brand's been doing a Lot more in their sneakers, and I like It a lot. I really loved when they did It on the Jay Balvin 3es, and I like it A lot on these Soul 3s. It looks sick. Moving up from the toe of the sneaker to The eye, you've got these blue plastic Eyelets, which add a nice pop of color To the bottom half of the tongue, which I really like. Above that, you've got This perforated leather panel, which
Comes in the same sort of off-white Cream color as the rest of the leather On the upper. And then the eyelids, or I Guess the plastic lace holders that you Have on Air Jordan 3s come in an aged Cream color, which I also like a lot. Now, this topmost plastic eyelid detail Comes in sort of a matching cream or I Guess white color to the rest of the Leather on the upper, which is nice. You've got three different colored Eyelets throughout the shoe, which is Interesting to see. Weaving through the Eyelids, you've got these off-white or Cream colored laces that are basically The same exact shade as the leather used On the upper of the shoe. Now, what's Interesting is that because of these raw Edges, I guess on the leather, I don't Know if it's actually raw or if they've Been dyed or something like that, it Actually leaves these sort of um almost Like dirty marks on the laces, which Sucks. Like, that's kind of a bummer. It Makes the laces look used, even though They're not. And I don't know if that's Going to be a problem for every single Pair, but you can sort of see where There's these lines of brown on the Laces. It's like very subtle, but you Can definitely see it where the uh the Laces must have been sitting on the Edges of the leather while in the box, Which makes them look like they're used.
Not a huge deal. And the laces are going To get dirty anyway when you actually Wear the shoes, but kind of a bummer to See coming out of the box. Now, Underneath the laces, you actually get To what seems like the most premium Feeling leather on the entire shoe. And That, of course, is on the tongue. The Bottom half of the tongue comes in white Tumbled leather, which is perforated and Is actually a different shade of white Than the rest of the upper on the shoe. It seems to be more of a true white, Whereas the rest of the white leather on The shoe is more of an off-white color, Which kind of creates an interesting, Very subtle contrast, which I don't know If I love, but I think there is a reason Why they did this, and I'll talk about That in a second. Moving towards the top Of the tongue, you've got more of that Super soft white leather that just Creases so nicely. I don't know if it's Actually nice leather. It actually Doesn't look incredible, but it feels Really nice to the touch. On the right Shoe, you've got the Jumpman embroidered In the center of the tongue in black. And on the left shoe, you've got the South Korean flag embroidered on the Tongue and obviously red, blue, and Black. Now, getting to why I think the Tongue of the shoe is a different color Than the rest of the upper. And that's
Because the Korean flag obviously is White and not an off-white color. So, They wanted to make it true to the Korean flag. So, they made the tongue White versus the same off-white that you Find on the rest of the shoe. That's my Guess. That would be my assumption. I Don't think it's because they just Didn't have any cream leather left or Whatever people might think. I really Think it's because they were trying to Stay true to the flag, but uh who knows? That could be right. That could be Wrong. We'll probably never know, Actually. Now, moving inside the shoe, You get to one of the more, I guess, Premium changes from the older version Of the shoe to this newer 2.0 version, And that's this reddish pinkish velour Sock liner. Now, this material feels Very similar, if not exactly the same, As what you get on the Shawn Witherspoon Air Max 197s. It's that same feel. It's Like almost velvet, but it's not as Nice. It's probably a much cheaper Material, too, to be honest. But it Looks really nice and it gives the upper Of this shoe sort of a glossy hit, which I really, really like. It's interesting That like a fabric can give a shoe a Glossy vibe, but it really does. It's Just the way it reflects the light. It's A really, really nice detail. On the Back of the tongue, you've got a much
More standard feeling fabric, which Comes in sort of an off-white color to Match the rest of the upper. Now, you've Probably noticed that on the back of Either one of these tongues, you've got These embroidered black Korean Characters. Now, I'll be honest, I don't Speak Korean, so I did not know what They meant. And so I used my phone and Google translated which seemed to work Out well cuz I sort of cross-cheed it With Tony D2 Wild's video and also Hypebeast's article. Uh those are some Of my sources sometimes. If you guys are Wondering where I get some research, Sometimes it's from Tony, sometimes it's From Hype Beast, sometimes it's from Somewhere else. It's not always from Those places. That's just for the case Of this video. I was trying to figure Out what it meant. So I was like Googling and those are the things that Came up. But regardless, on the right Shoe, the character apparently Translates to the word dream. And then On the left shoe, you've got a character That apparently loosely translates to Affection or familiarity, warmth, Something like that. I don't know if There's actually a good English Translation for that word. If you guys Know, let me know in the comment section Down below. Continuing on, inside the Sneaker, you've got this sort of
Off-white colored insole that features The Nike Air branding on the heel in Black. The insole also comes in this Pretty soft feeling foam, which I've got To admit did feel nice underfoot. I Wouldn't say it's like significantly Softer than a regular pair of threes. In Fact, I think they use this kind of Insole on other pairs of threes, so it's Not like brand new, but it does feel Nice. I did a video like a year and a Half ago where I compared all the Jordan Retros. I might redo it because people Were just so unhappy with it. I still Agree with it. I might not redo I still Think it's right. But regardless, people Were getting mad that I wasn't saying The Jordan 3es and the Jordan 4s were The most comfortable Jordans. They're Not. Straight up, they're not. I Understand why people think they're more Comfortable because they probably wear Them more, but I mean, really, if you Compare the 3es to like a pair of 13s or The threes to a pair of twelves, I mean, It's like really no contest. That being Said, these don't feel bad on foot. And Actually, since we're talking about Comfort, if you happen to skip the Sizing portion of this video, sometimes People comment, "When are you going to Talk about sizing?" I already did. But For those of you that missed it, this Shoe does fit true to size. And that's
What I recommend if you have a chance to Buy these shoes for yourself. either True to size or whatever you usually buy In Air Jordan 3es. Around the back half Of the ankle, you've got yet another Updated detail from the Soul 1.0's to The 2.0's, and that's this quilted nylon Sock liner that comes in a bright blue, Obviously to mimic the flag. In fact, The contrast that you get from this red To the blue is a really, really nice Touch and is a nice call back to the Flag. I actually really love it. This Quilted detail is actually inspired by Traditional Korean garments and really Does add a nice material contrast to the Shoe. It might not be as bright or as Eye-catching of a blue as it was when it Was leather on the 1.0's, knows, but I Really like that they changed up the Material on this shoe, and I love the Inspiration. I think that's a nice Touch. Continuing around the back of the Shoe, you've got more of that elephant Print and the sort of gray and cream Colored suede, which I love. It's super Hairy, super premium, although it is Kind of shedding on my desk a little Bit. And then rounding off the heel, You've got this sort of off-white Colored heel tab with the Nike Air Branding in black. I really, really love That Jordan brand is allowing non OG Colorways to now have the Nike Air
Branding on a pair that's as premium Feeling as this. It just feels right. It Feels like it's supposed to be there, Which I love. I also like that it's in Black. I would have understood if they Went with like a dark blue for it or Even a bright blue or even a red, but I Really like the black. It just feels it Feels right. Continuing down on the Shoe, you get to yet another updated Detail on the shoe, and that is this Very very aged looking midsole. This is Probably the one hit that I think they Could have done a little bit less on. I Feel like this uh very dark sort of Sandy cream color is a bit much, but Hey, you know, it is a nice I guess a Nice contrast with the upper. Obviously, It is designed to look aged, which is What Jordan Brand has been doing a lot Recently, and so is Nike. So is every Other brand honestly cuz it's been a Huge uh a huge trend over the last Couple years. And I understand that this Is supposed to be a shoe that's inspired By the 1988 Olympics, which is years ago Now, over 30 years. So maybe that's what They're going for. But um I think they Hit it with too much tan. Could have Made it a bit more creamy. I don't know. That's just my take on it, though. Let Me know your thoughts in the comment Section down below. The air bubble of The shoe, of course, is clear with red
Pillars inside, which look nice and add Some very subtle contrast to the Midsole. The toe of the midsole comes in I think the cream color that we should Have had on the rest of the midsole, but You can agree to disagree with me on That. And then finally, moving to the Outsole of the shoe, we've got a Primarily gray rubber outsole accented By red on the toe, a blue Nike logo Towards the heel, and then more of that Very, very, very cream colored rubber. Jordan brand is delivering a certified Banger with this 2.0 version of the Soul 3s. The aged accents, which yes, I think Are a little bit overdone. I still like Them, and the more interesting material Choices serve to make this a more Complete version of the shoe in my Opinion. Now, I understand if some People won't agree with me on that, but That's fine. I I get that some people Like the more simple and more clean 2018 Version that comes in mostly white. I Totally get that. But this 2.0 version Is just more interesting. There's more Going on. Without knowing actual stock Numbers, it does seem like this pair Will be a more limited release, most Likely only releasing on the sneakers App and at some tier zero boutiques. But We'll have to wait and see when the shoe Gets closer to release date, which is Now only like a week and a half away.
