Welcome back to another custom from Vick Almighty! This week, Vick is transforming a pair of Jordan 9 Happy Life Wood Custom Golf cleats into a regular pair of shoes. This sleek wood design is something we haven’t seen from Jordan Brand yet, giving Vick even more reason to take on this project. It’s also the perfect opportunity to show you how to turn cleats into everyday heat. ????
To start, Vick grabs a pair of Jordan 9 Powder Blues and tears the shoe apart, separating the upper from the midsole and outsole. He soaks the shoe in acetone to make it easier to dismantle. Next, he moves on to the cleats, using a heat gun to warm up a screwdriver. By heating the tip of the screwdriver, Vick is able to separate the sole from the upper on the cleats. With that done, it’s time to put everything together.
To prep the shoe for reassembly, Vick uses a Dremel on the donor midsole and outsole to ensure the new layer of glue will stick. He then paints the donor sole completely white, eliminating the powder blue accents. During the process, Vick accidentally removed the stitches on the cleat, so he had to replace them to ensure no future issues with the uppers.
With the prep work done, Vick applies glue to the donor bottoms and where the midsole meets the uppers. After that, he heats the glue with a heat gun and, just like that, this custom Jordan 9 is complete!

Don't want to damage the uppers I got to Go all around the shoe in order to get The sole off Done with that there was a couple times Where I stabbed myself with that hot Screwdriver specifically on my hand so Be careful if you ever do that step at Home these are trash now as you can see I completely destroyed it these were a Poly earthing ml I could have probably Saved them but I'm pretty sure this Material is phylon it's a lot more Delicate especially if you're using heat With it so we don't need these no more I'll put it to the side let's get to to Work on the uppers as you can see There's all this foam and glue on the Upper still on there we got to get all That off to do so I'm going to use a Blade to Sky it all off I just got to be Very careful with the Uppers skying is complete but the preper Continues next we got to use a Dremel on The midsole and the upper I'm going to Be using three different drill bits on The rubber toe cap area I'll be using a Metal drill bit this will get the glue Off a lot easier without damaging the Rubber for the rest of the mle I'll be Using a lighter grit sating bit I just Need to create enough friction to get The glue off without damaging the Polyurethane jumbling for the most part Is easy on the midsole but when it comes
To the uppers you got to have a really Steady Hand you also want to drop the Speed you don't want to go on to the Uppers cuz that'll chew it up and you're Going to spend a lot of time trying to Fix that especially with this pair with The unique texture on the leather I Wouldn't even know where to start to fix It jumbling is complete we're almost Done with the prep I am going to be Covering up this blue with some white Paint but first I got to prep it I'm Going to wipe off the factory finish With some 800 grit sandpaper give it a Good sanding all around once I'm done With that I'm going to give it a final Wipe down using as and cotton balls on The mle and on the inside part where I Just dremeled before I lay down some Glue and Paint onto some taping we're going to Tape up the inside of the midsole and The entire out soole so we can lay down Some white over this Blue all taped up let's lay down some White paint it's going to take a while We got to cover up all the blue then Coat until it's fully Solid white is on there it's nice and Solid I laid down a lot of Co to fully Cover up the blue at the moment the Paint job is a little rough because of The air brush to get it nice and smooth I'm going to hit it with some 1200 git
Sandpaper back and forth after that I'll Finish it off with one or two more coats To complete the Job paint job is complete it's looking Solid now to protect it we're going to Go outside and lay down a quick mat Finish during the sking process I did Remove the lasting board it's going to Make it a lot easier to put the upper on The new sole by doing so though I did Remove the stitching from the tongue as You can see this tongue isn't supposed To do this the elastic straps are Supposed to sewn in down here so I'm Going to put some double-sided tape then With the machine create a stitch line Right here to lock it in place Stitching is complete tongues are in Place those aren't going anywhere next Before we lay down some glue I got to Recreate some new lasting boards these Are ruined I'm going to use the original Lasting board place it over the new Material then with the marker trace it Out cut it out and then we'll lay down Some glue on everything [Music] [Music] Glue is fully cured it's time to stick Everything together I'm going to start With the upper and mid soole once the Upper is attached to the midsole and the Sole I'll lay down the lasting board to Do this correctly I think I'm going to
Start with the teeth make sure that's Lined up properly then I'll jump over to The toe area do the the back and then do The rest for this I want to take my time Everything's got to line up [Music] Perfectly glue off is fully complete I Let this fully cure over the weekend I'm Really happy with the results everything Lined up nicely the prepwork paid off Especially I'm going to give it a good Stress test to show you guys that these Mentals are on their Good no separation at all that's thanks To good prep work these shoes are going To be worn it's not just about making Them look good but also making sure They're fully functionable last St we Have to do before we lace them up is to Spray them with some rejuvenator water And stering repellant the shoe does Contain a few different materials such As its buttery soft suede on the uppers Nice premium leather on the tongues and This beautiful wood gray material too Many delicate materials on the sneaker I Want to make sure these are fully Protected so I'm going to go outside Spray some water and stain repellent Onto the shoe let it cure for a little Bit spray another coat and they should Be fully protected after That final step the laces [Music]
