Hey people welcome to the run test it's Kieran here and Welcome to our first run In the aex gel truko 12 so let's give you some quick details Then with the ax gel truko 12 has a Pretty big stack with 36 Ms in the hill 28 m in the 4T for an 8 mil drop when it Comes to weight the truko 12 weighs in At 312 G or 11.3 o in my UK men's 8 and A half tsue on price they are £40 in the UK Let's take a quick look at the shoe Starting with the midso and you've got a Good wedge of flight foam blast foam Here this the kind of foam that we've Seen in Road like the Nova blast and Asx's adaptive guidance system along With a rock plate for protection there's Also some rear foot gel to soften The Landings up top there's a technical mesh Upper the toe box has got quite a lot of Reinforcement these overlays on there They're not rigid but they do add a toe St barrier the tongues are well padded As are the colors to create a comfort Plush feeling overall there's a hill Pool here as well that's quite handy for Hanging muddy shoes up or when they're Wet and there's some lace storage as Well for keeping those out the way flip Them over and you get quite an Aggressive layer of aex grip rubber on The Outside so I'm just back from my first
Running the aex gel truko 12 I've done Those on very tired legs yesterday I did A 30 mile out here in the New Forest Testing two other Trail SHO Getting my legs ready for the comrade so I needed something today that was going To be you know on the side of forgiving But I was back on the trails onto the Kind of really mixed terrain today again Bit of Road some compacted gravel paths That are kind of nicely groomed and then Off onto grass onto some harder kind of Sort of Forest Trails with tree roots And whatnot then into some really deep Mud and some really squishy boggy stuff So a real mix of terrain but overall I Wanted something that was going to be Protective on the legs and the moment I Put the triple CO2 on I think the Stepping comfort in this shoe is really Topnotch they're nice and roomy they Feel good when you put them on they're a Kind of shoe you put on you think yeah I'm going to be able to go and running These really nicely you know I haven't Had that with all the trail shoes Sometimes you can put them on you feel Like you're going to you know you're Going to have to work your way into the Shoes not so with these I think the Stack of that flight flam blast midsole Here is really nicely balanced actually There's a softness to it but it's not Overly soft there's a good protection
From on the road when you're running Those kind of Trails as well that gives You a little bit of cushioning a little Bit of protection there's a little bit Of control but it's not overdone it's Not over soft it's just taking the edge Off you know and then so then when you Get onto the softer Trails it doesn't Feel like you're sort of squishing and Wobbling all over the place it's still Just feels really nicely balanced even When you hit much much softer stuff in Terms of the lugs and the grip on all of That terrain that I've just run they did A really good job even in some really Kind of quite deep slippy stuff they Coped really nicely a little bit sticky On the tarmac and on you know if you're Thinking about rotor Trail there is a Little bit of grip there that's probably Maybe a little bit more aggressive than You perhaps want it's a fair chunk away From something like the meril more Flight which you know with it sort of Two and a half and three mil lugs I Think you know made more perhaps for Doing sort of road to Trail where you Don't get that stickiness in that group This does have that stickiness in group Obviously it works on the trail but Maybe not so well when you get back onto The tarmac overall I found there's a Sort of really nice clip along to them As well they were really light actually
Well they felt light on the foot happy You know lifting those feet on tired Legs I did a few sections that were sort Of rolling downhills nothing crazy Steep And I felt like I had you know good good Grip good traction on the way up none of The kind of heels rubbing into the back Of the heels all that kind of thing that Can happen when you're sometimes running Uphills on the trails and overall I've Been impressed with these These are Certainly shoes that in my immediate Thoughts go to whether or not you could Run you know hours and hours and long Time on feet in them pick off kind of Ultas on sort of rolling Terrain Runnable stuff here in the UK and I Think this is a shoe that would Definitely let you do that and be Forgiving enough for those longer miles As well so after that initial I think I Did about 4 and a half miles in about an Hour so reasonable amount of time on Feet I think there's good protection From the drop good protection under the Foot from the cushioning and yeah nicely Balanced I thought the stability was Nicely you know there I think there's an Instant amount of connection with the Ground it's not the most direct shoes I've ever run in but there's enough Connection so you can feel what's going On Under Foot but still get the Protection so yeah First Impressions
After that first run are this is a shoe That I would certainly like to run more In and I enjoyed the miles that I've Done so an initial first impressions Very very early verdict on the aex jel Truko 12 then I think it was thumbs up On that run all the protection that I Wanted that it says that's what it's Designed for is to give you kind of Protection grounded comfort for taking On any kind of trails and that is Exactly what it's delivered out there For me just now I think you can really Notice that kind of rear foot sort of Gel protection softens the heel Landings I was a bit heavier on my feet today so I was Landing a bit further back needed That cushioning and that really worked I Think the platform under foot is Reliable it's comfortable it feels Cushioned enough but not overdone There's a nice balance to it stability Overall I think is really nice there's An airiness to the overall fit on the Foot particularly into the toe box Perhaps a little bit loose in terms of The overall fit maybe need to lock it Down a bit tighter but for 140 this is a Shoe that for me in my head anyway my Thoughts go towards things like the Mero Agility Peak five or uh speed goat 5 That kind of area where you're getting You know enough softness enough Cushioning to protect you over the Long
Haul but they're not so heavy and clumpy And cumbersome that you feel like you Wouldn't want to go too far in them this It feels balanced on the foot actually And so yeah I think that represents for Me it's going to look like it represents Pretty good value for money and it might Put it in the ballp with some of those Shoes that I've really enjoyed and I Think people find very popular so from That first run overall I would say that This aex Joel truko 12 is got all the Positive signs I'm looking forward to Doing more testing in it taking out for You know twice the amount of time on Feet and really testing those Ultra Credentials you know is this is Shue That you could really go and do the kind Of 50 60 70 miles in I can't wait to Find out so we will take it out for more Tests but that has been the first run Verdict for now So when it comes to fit I've just run in A UK 8 and A2 which is my regular Running shoe size in aex the way I Describe the trucos is that the toe box There's lots of room you've got a full Thumb width at towards the end of the Toe box so no bashing up against the end There's a reasonable amount of clearance Across the top of the toes and into the Toe box I would say that I think there Got of ample volume when you're kind of Moving back down the shoe the toe
Knuckle and the little toes there's some Real structure to the ERS here there's Some overlays and that means that those Kind of hold firm I would say it might Be a bit of a worry in terms of rubbing Over longer longer distances Particularly for me on the little toes So if you've got big wide feet you might Want to consider going half a size up to Accommodate that then back into the Midfoot hold it's secure it's not the Tightest lock down I've ever had and Then again into the heel collar it's Just about on the right side of holding I did worry when I first started running It was going to be a bit slipping there Wasn't and I think that's largely in Part down to the kind of roll top big Padded heel colors that you've got but Not quite as secure as some other trail Shoes that I've run in you know the fit And comfort on I I think is got that What I look for in a trail shoe that Will give me room and comfort to go Ultra distance so that is how I would Describe it I overall I would go true to Size unless you've got big wide feet and You want a bit more room so there you Have it that has been our first run look At the asex jrao 12 hope you enjoy it Hope you found it useful don't forget to Like And subscribe and ring the bell if You want to hear when the full review Lands if you're interested in similar
