Hello and welcome to run testers my Name's Nick and this is our full review Of the aex metas speed Edge [Music] Paris so the metas speed Edge Paris it's Fair to say is the other aex racing shoe With the metas speed Sky Paris and metas Speed sky in general being the more Hyped shoe throughout the generations The Edge Paris is pitched at the same Price point as the sky Paris with the Difference being that it's aimed at Runners who have more of a high Cadence Style than bounding Runners who might Suit the sky Paris more but it is meant To be a top tier super shoe and it has The price tag to match which is £220 in The UK $250 in the US it's a very light Shoe it weighs in at 195 G or 6.9 o in My UK size 9 which is just very slightly Heavier than the metas speed Sky Paris And it's got the same stack and drop as The sky Paris with a height of 39.5 mm At the heel 34.5 at the 4T for a drop of 5 mm compared to previous models of the Shoe the drop has come down a little and The 4T stack height has increased a Little so the sky Paris is my favorite Racing shoe and a lot of people's Favorite racing shoe that's come out This year and you've got a lot of Similar features with the edge Paris When it comes to the design it starts With the same motion wrap 2.0 upper
Which is a very lightweight upper Minimal cushioning but a really good Hold around the heel and midf foot and Then you've got an FF turbo plus midsole This is a lighter softer bouncier phone Than the FF turbo used in past models of The metas speed line and you have a full Length carbon plate running through that Key difference between the metas speed Edge Paris and the sky Paris is that Plate where on the edge Paris it is more Scooped and sits lower in the foam Whereas in the sky Paris you've got more Of a level plate that sits higher and Nearer the foot in the for foot in Particular the idea being that the edge Paris will give more propulsion to Runners who increase their Cadence Predominantly when they're running Faster whereas the sky Paris is designed To provide More Bounce to more loping Runners who increase their stride length Predominantly when running faster then You've got an aex grip rubber outsole With pretty good 4 foot coverage it does Extend fairly far back at the hill on The edge Paris but you have still got Some exposed foam there which we do find Tend rough up a little bit over time if You are a heel [Music] Striker so in terms of fit I've got the Metas speed Edge Paris in the UK size Eight that's my typical running shoe
Size that's the same shoe size that I Have the Edge Plus in also the metas Speed sky parison as well too I would Say the fit overall has been very good I Think the main thing I would say that I Noticed from The Edge Plus is that this Shoe is slightly longer in terms of the Fit now it hasn't been an issue in terms Of my running experience but there may Be an argument to go half size down in This shoe just because it is a touch Longer in the toes elsewhere it's very Similar to The Edge Plus you've got this Obviously improved kind of Upper and I Think you know like the upper On The Edge Plus does a very good job of being Or kind of locking you in in the right Places that you kind of want in a racing Sho but also at the same time feeling Quite accommodating and roomy as well Too and I think unlike a lot of racing Shoes it definitely does a very good job On that front of making maybe being a Bit more spacious for kind of slightly Wider feet whereas you know I've got Narrow feet and has been fine but I Think you know some of the RAC shoes can Be a little bit awkward to get on this Is sh been very easy to get on for me And get out and running uh the lacing And the tongue are pretty much identical To the edge plus I think you need to Play around a little bit to get get that Optimal lock down but I think once you
Do that it's been absolutely fine I've Had no issues further back in the shoe It's a similar level of padding in the Hill cor as well too to the Edge Plus so Just enough there in terms of that Support and comfort but also not adding Massive amount of weight to the overall Um weight of this shoe so yeah for me I Think there may be to go half size down As I said in my UK size a has been fine It hasn't been an issue on my runs but Maybe if you want something slightly More snug fitting in the toe box and There might be something to look at Comes the fit of the Met speed Edge Paris I've been very happy with the uk9 Us10 with this shoe I've it's got a Really dialed in racing fit that it Feels very secure and gives you that Lock down you want when you're running Fast especially around corners but it's Not at all cramped or anything like that In the toe box the same size I have in The metas speed Sky Paris and most of The aex range but I will say if I look At aex is more cushion shoes like the GEL Nimbus or the gel Cayo I prefer an 8.5 in those shoes cuz they come up a Bit roomy I don't have that at all with The metas speed Edge Paris so maybe if You're someone who fits close to the Front of something like the GEL Nimbus In your normal size you can maybe look At going a half size up in the metas
Speed shoes but overall I would say the Shoe does fit true to size just with a Slightly more dialed in feeling around The toes which you often get with racing [Music] Shoes so I've run around 85k in the aex Metas speed Edge Paris and it's a shoe I Was very much looking forward to running Uh the sky Paris is is my favorite Racing shoe it's a shoe I've used to set My Marathon PB earlier this year I've Used it for half marathons 5K 10K and I Think it's an absolutely incredible shoe Theory The Edge Parish should suit me Even better because I am a classic High Cadence Runner I have a high Cadence for All my runs and it increases even more When I am running fast and doing races It's often around 200 in races and I Don't have a very long stride length so The edge Parish has suit me really well And I have found it suited me really Well I've really loved running in the Shoe I found it very fast for a number Of hard sessions I've also done a 5K Race in the shoe in 15 50 I think I Clocked and it's felt fantastic for all Of them but the big caveat to all of This is I still prefer the feeling of The ASX metas speed Sky Paris and even Though that isn't meant to suit me as This High Cadence running style I find That it does and I like the feel of it More and I've done a workout comparing
The two which we'll discuss in a bit but For starters let's just focus on the Edge pars cuz I do think this is a shoe That stands up very well against all of The carbon plate running shoes on the Market except potentially the asex metas Speed Sky Paris it's really lightweight This foam this FF turbo plus is a Fantastic foam it's got plenty of Bounce But it's also not too soft and Squishy On the foot you can really feel a fast Transition onto your toes with the shoe And you get a nice amount of propulsion From the combination of the plate and The foam here it's also a lot more Comfortable I think than previous Versions of the M Speed Edge you have Less of a kind of slap through because The drop is a bit lower it's a bit Smoother and the 4 foot feels more Cushioned which I appreciated on longer Runs in the shoe I really think it is Now a very competitive all distance Racing shoe I pretty slightly forer it For the shorter stuff I've done in it so Far but i' have no quals about taking This to Marathon distance I think it's a Fantastic all round race ring shoe I Guess the Crux this review is how it Compares to the metas speed Sky Paris we Will do a separate video on this but Obviously this is the key decision when They're priced the same and have lots of Similar features I think actually a lot
Of what's improved about the metas speed Edge Paris has come about from aex Making it a bit more like the sky Paris If you look at the previous models of The shoes they've basically gradually Got closer together and I'd say now the Ed Paris is quite close to Sky Paris and As a result it feels fantastic but I Still get a slightly better feeling from The sky Paris just before I started Testing the edge Paris I ran a 10K in The sky Paris and loved it every time I Get a chance to reuse the shoe to Compare it to a newer shoe I'm always Amazed by how much I like it and this Week I also went down to the track and Did a six times one mile workout at uh 520 per mile pace for the miles and I Did kind of a 200 met recovery in around 90 seconds so did the first three reps Of that in the metas speed Edge Paris Then I quickly changed into the sky Paris and used them for the final three Reps of the workout and on performance You know it's pretty similar I really Felt similarly good throughout that Workout that's quite a controlled Pace It's kind of Target half marathon pace Probably more like 10K pace for me at The moment and I felt really good in Both of these the Reps were nice and Controlled but I did notice clear Difference in the ride feel of the shoe And it's really that I get a lot more
Uplift and explosion off the toes from The metas speed Sky Paris I really feel That as you finish your foot strike and Come through the for foot get a real Nice amount of Pop from the sky Paris That isn't there so much with the edge Paris it really feels very bouncy and Sprightly under the forefoot in Particular now with the edge Paris what I noticed is I feel a bit more Propulsion coming from around the Midfoot of the shoe it drives me forward A bit and you have got that propulsive Feeling that aex is talking about with The shoe but then as I hit the toes it Feels like it's still bouncy but a Little bit flat compared to the Met Speed Sky Paris and it's almost like all The dry from the plate comes in the Midfoot section of the cycle and you Know you gets great you know you run Really fast in the shoe but I just Really like how the forfeit in Particular feels on the sky Paris and Yeah I don't know exactly what's aiding Me what's making me more efficient and All that but the results I've had in the Met speed Sky Paris have been really Good actually I did run a 5K in the sky Paris during my testing of it which was A park run which I ran you know pretty Much solo on an allterrain path with one Hill in it and I ran like 1551 in the Shoe there whereas the ran in the Met
Speed Edge Paris was Batter Park two Perfectly flat laps you know one the Best place to run in London with a group Of Runners you going all out and you Know I clocked almost exactly the same Time can't really compare shoes cuz it's Different days different feelings and Everything like that but I just feel Like I haven't really had any kind of Bad result in the Met speed Sky Paris Has always helped me deliver as well as I possibly could on the day and I think The edge Paris is right up there but Yeah I do think I perform better in the Sky Paris and I prefer the feel of it More importantly maybe that won't be the Case for all Runners I did notice that Difference in feeling and maybe some Will actually like the feel of the more For sure but even as someone who is I Would say a typical Cadence Runner under Asx's definition I prefer the feeling of The sky Paris so in terms my running Experience with the edge pass it has Been very good overall this is a shoe Built For Speed built for running fast And I think when you do that it feels Very good to do that I think you got to You know I got a really good experience With the Edge Plus from that point of View I think it's more of the same here With the edge Paris and I think like The Meta speed Sky Paris this definitely Feels like there's more of a kind of
Vapor flight feel for me in terms of That experience you know you're getting You know A shoot that is super light you know This is lighter than the Met speed Edge Plus for me is only slightly heavier Than the Met speed sky perh for me in The UK size eight so you're getting a Shoe that really kind of fits that kind Of racing profile in terms of that ride It's bouncy Lively you got that kind of Aggressive rocker ride you know it is It's really quickly turning your feet Over and I think crucially for me when I've done a harder session in this shoe My legs haven't felt kind of you know Really beaten up I think that's a major Plus for me with the Met Speed Line and The kind of edge Paris uh particularly I Think my experience with the Edge Plus Was that you know I felt like it was a Great shoe to run kind of shorter Distances in I think would' probably max Out half marathon for me I think that Was mainly down to the fact of being or Feeling a little bit firmer in general To the mes guy plus which I think you Know I use at Marathon distance I felt It was a more more comfortable shoe to Do that and you know despite being I Think probably a Cadence Runner I found The shoe designed for stride runners Work better for me ultimately so you Know in terms of you know using the edge
Poers and having used the M Speed sky Poers as well too I do think crucially Having more foam in the shoe does make It better suited to run you know further And longer in this shoe and I think if Your mechanics lend itself to being a Cadence R out or being a you know Working better in the edge compared to The sky par and I think you're going to Appreciate having that extra foam in Here and I definitely have when I've run Longer and it felt like I've wanted or Felt more comfortable to to run longer In I still feel that it would be a shoe That I would probably use up to the kind Of har marathan distance still and That's you know having run in the metab Sky Paris as well too I just found like There's a slightly softer Edge for it to Me compared to the edge price which Makes me feel like it's going a bit a Bit more comfortable to run longer in as Well and that's kind of what I found in My testing but we'll get into more on That a comparison kind of video but Ultimately I think this is a shoe that Is better suited to run longer in Compared to the edge plus I do still Feel like it is a shoe that I would Probably grab for my shorter distance Races and shorter kind of sessions with It where I feel like that's where I've Really got the best experience from it I Think ultim when I've run longer in it
And my legs have started to tie it's Maybe found a little bit more awkward And less stable to run in than the Met Speed guy Paris for me which I just feel Like you know it's there's a similar Experience in terms of you know when you Kind of ease off it's not a shoe for Easing off in that it feels a little bit More Awkward I just found it maybe is a Slightly little bit more awkward in the Edge Paris for me when my legs have tied Longer in runs I think when you look at Things like the outsole durability I Think the it's a similar setup in terms Of you're getting from the edge plus you Know you're getting that exposed area of The Hill um you know I feel like the Foam here compared to the previous foam Is a little bit more resilient in terms Of that kind of durability gripping you Know very similar in terms of my Experience with the Edge Plus but I Think in terms of outso durability maybe There's a slight Improvement there I Think ultimately is still going to be a Shoe that you're going to want to save For race day you're going to save it for When you are training at your race base I think you do that you're going to save It and reserve it for where it's going To best Excel but yeah I definitely feel Like the outsold durability has improved A little bit particularly at the hill But I think in terms of how I would use
It I would still be saving it for those Kind of important kind of faster Sessions that I'm going to do and it's Not going to work or double up as a Daily trainer so yeah a very positive Experience for Me overall in The Meta Speed [Music] Edge so my v on the aex meta speed Ed Paris is that this is a fantastic shoe To run fast in and if you like the idea Of a lightweight racing shoe that as I Said has qualities of the vapor flight About it then this shoe absolutely fits The bill now I think if you you know Really like the metas speed Edge line I Think you know your running mechanics Really worked well with the shoe you Like the idea of that shoe becoming Lighter I think having a level of foam That makes it more comfortable to run Longer in as well too I think you're Going to appreciate the upgrades in this Shoe compared to the Edge Plus now in Ter terms of being the best racing shoe Best top tier racing shoe that you're Going to have to spend a lot of money For ultimately the problem is you've got The S6 met speed Sky Paris here as well Too and I think ultimately gives you all The same experience of the metas speed Edge Paris in a lighter shoe but also I Think for me feels more comfortable to Run longer and that's what I found in my
Experience and I think you know still Gives you that kind of real faster feel At shorter distances but I think if I Was looking for a shoe that worked at F Kind of shorter faster distances up to Kind of longer Marathon distances I feel Like that's a shoe I would go for Despite probably falling into that kind Of cadence Runner category so I think Ultimate for me I think if you get a Hold of the edge Paris I think as Opposed to the sky Paris and it works For your running mechanics and you're Absolutely going to enjoy running fast In the shoe I think if I had to pick Between the two or I had the option Between the two shoes I'd be going for The Met speed Sky Paris because I think You're going to get a lighter shoe Ultimately and a shootter is going to Give you all the same qualities and feel A little bit nicer for me based on my Experience running longer in it so Verdict on the Met speed Edge Paris this Is quite tricky one to do really because I think this is an amazing shoe like Comparing it to the market at large I do Think it's one of the best carbon races Out there I put it right up there with Shoes like the Nike vaporfly 3 the Puma Devi8 Nitro Elite 3 shoes that I think Are really good it's actually quite Similar in Feld to the Puma devi8 nro Elite 3 for me you've got a slightly
Firmer foam with that scooped plate you Get that nice propulsive feeling it's Lightweight fast really good all around But you know it's at its brand I don't Think it's the best shoe so it's very Hard to you know recommend it because You can spend exactly the same price to Get a shoe with the exactly same color And a very similar setup all around but I think the sky Paris is a faster shoe And I think that someone who is a Classic Edge Runner so I would say if You're looking between them and don't Get a chance to test them both opt for The sky Paris I think it's the one that Feels a bit special to me whereas The Edge Paris feels a bit more in line with What we've come to expect from carbon Shoes it's a very good carbon shoe a Really good one all around for sure but I think the sky Paris is Just A Cut Above if you do get a chance to test Them both out I definitely would CU There is a difference in ride feeling And maybe you'll like that kind of Midfoot propulsive feel from The Edge Maybe will help you turn your feet over And you know improve as a Cadence Runner Maybe you're a bounding Runner and You'll end up preferring The Edge Because improves your turnover while you Still have that lovely loping stride Whereas as a shuffler I like the extra Bounce I get from the sky who knows but
Both really good shoes I still prefer The sky I do think the edge Paris is Comparable to the other good racing Shoes on the market you're going to get A springier feeling from some of the Bigger shoes something like the Nike Alphafly 3 gives you a more propulsive Springy feel it's a bit heavier but you Get a lot back in bounce you know I Really like the Ally 3 it's the shoe That comes closest to competing with the Sky Paris 4 me but the metas speed Edge Paris has a lighter feel if you prer That a slightly firmer feeling there's Also a shoe like the hoker cellow X1 Which stands out a bit from the crowd of Carbon Shoes by being a bit heavier but Also a much springier option A really Exciting shoe all around and I love Running in the C X1 I don't think it's Necessarily my top option for racing Because it is a bit heavy but is a Really good shoe that's proved very Durable for me as well been doing a lot Of training runs in it overall love Running in the Ed Paris I think it's a Great shoe I don't necessarily think aex Needs to have two shoes in his lineup Though I think it actually confuses Runners a little bit at a time when if They had just launched the Met speed SK Paris and that was the only shoe in Their line I think you know it's already Got a great reputation the shoe but if
It was just really focused on this People would have tried it loved it and Realized how special it is I think Actually they muddy the water a little Bit by having these two shoes that are Getting closer in feel and they do have A different feel maybe it's worth it for Some people and they really love the Edge much more than the sky but actually I think as the shoes get closer together I think the need to having two different Shoes isn't exactly necessary and I do Think the sky is the stand out in the Range but yeah if you can try both do Try both let me know what you prefer That's our review of The Met speed Edge Paris like I said we will have a Dedicated Sky versus Paris video as well But I think we've covered most of what I'm going to say in that video in this Video but hey do watch it as well please Also like And subscribe ring the little Bell I'll see you next time
