We’ve raced it over the marathon and the half marathon distance and the ASICS Metaspeed Sky Paris has won lots of hearts and minds here at The Run Testers. But how does it hold up on shorter races? Can it conquer the 5km as well? Run Tester Kieran took it for a spin at the Dulwich Podium 5k to find out if this carbon racer really is an every-distance running shoe. Hey people welcome to the run sests it's Kieran here we are at the podium 5K with Sports shoes and with aex today I am Going to be race testing the aex meta Speed Sky Paris on an allout 5K for the First time I've done them over the Marathon I've done a solo marathon in These shoes it's time to see what they Can do when I'm trying to push all out 5K Pace yeah truth be told after Manchester legs are a bit tired I've Already done three runs this morning for The pre- London Marathon ShakeOut runs Where I met a bunch of you guys out There actually so we'll see don't know It's not going to be my fastest but we Will see what we get I'm basic just Going to see what the body will offer up Today so anyway we're about half an hour From the start I better go and get Myself ready [Music] That's the dll podium 5K with aexs and Sports shoes done in the as6 metal speed Sky Paris I've now done a solo marathon In these shoes I've done the Manchester Marathon in them as well and now an Allout 5K race and today I think the Shoes performed as I wanted as I'd Expected they are you know again Punchy They are light they are sort of nimble And agile very sort of flat sort of wide No tight corners on that course the one Thing I will say maybe over that
Distance you might want a little bit More snap and a little bit more Stiffness from that kind of ride you Know there is a little bit of cushioning But I've got plenty of propulsion I'm on Very tired legs today so I was I've done Sort of that would be my fourth run of The day actually and obviously a week After Manchester so you know these gave Me that little extra that I needed today To help me get through it and uh yeah I'm really impressed with how they Performed super Comfortable good Precision good agility Everything I've kind of said in the Other videos about these shoes was also Good over the 5K and a happy 5K I think Some Runners might want something that Is a little stiffer maybe so back at the Office after a busy weekend of running I'm here to give you some summary Thoughts on the asex metas speed Sky Paris after my allout 5K effort now the First thing to say is that the podium 5K Event was great very very simple setup With chip timed it's nice flat three Laap loop around big wide path in dich Park Southeast London the park is still Open to the public but the course was Really nice and clear the field was Really fast I think there must be sort 50 to 100 runners in my race most of Whom went sub 17 now less than a week After the Manchester Marathon I somehow
Managed to clock a 5K PB myself at 1756 So something went right out there and I Came eighth in my 45 plus age group out Of nine though so that'll give you an Idea of how Pacey the race was but it Was excellent and well organized with a Really nice lowkey feel to it I really Enjoyed it now OD to the shoes then and Less than a week after running a PB at Manchester and with three London Marathon ShakeOut runs in the morning Before this race I definitely needed Some extra help If Ever I wanted a Carbon shoe to give me some more beans This was going to be the moment now as One of the slower people in the race There's no doubt I was definitely Dragged Along by the other excellent Runners in that I was pulled Along by People moving pretty fast and the podium 5K event I think was a great place to go And Chase a fast time now the metas Speed Sky Paris absolutely delivered on The day as well I know they worked over The Marathon distance you can see my Race test video for the Manchester Marathon on the channel here if you go And search for it but that light agile Punchy propulsive ride performed over The 5K distance to now there's a Controlled energy here I think when You're running kind of mid to four foot In really good form engaging that foam And plate combo up the front they give
Back really plenty now this wasn't a Twisty turny course it was sort of big Long kind of round Loops but I felt Secure on the mid sole base there was no Slipping off the platform I got a really Good locked in fit that feels racy but Still manages to feel quite natural as Well not too tight not too fussy one Detail I wanted to flag up those I think That some Runners might like a little More stiffness and response underf foot For the 5K distance I personally don't Find the metas speed too cushioned but If you're kind of light livee super Speed ster you might want something even More direct and strip back than this Shoe offers but for me the sky Paris hit A sweet spot and I think a lot of Runners over that distance this would be A good shoe to Use so I'm going to give you a quick Verdict then as I've kind of said a lot Already about this shoe that's a Marathon and a 5k PB in the aex metas Speed Sky Paris it's not all down to the Shoes of course but the test miles and The race test I've done suggests there's Great versatility to this shoe that Definitely comes to the for most when You're running well with good locked in Form how I'd sort of described when You're in attack mode you know you're Running really with intent I still don't Think this is really a shoe that I'd
