Best Carbon Plate Running Shoes 2023:

Hey this is mik from the Run testers and This is our multitester take on how the Aex Met speed Sky Paris compares to the Pum DV8 Nitro Elite [Music] 3 here's the tail of the tape of these Two top carbon Racers the Puma devi8 Nitro Elite 3 is the cheaper of the two Shoes though when it comes to weight the Met be Sky par sits lighter on your feet In terms of drops it's an 8 mm one for The pummer Shu and a 5mm one for ax the M be in a little more foam in the 4 foot In terms of Stack Heights we've got Similar light breathable uppers which Sit above Lively midsoles both matched Up with full length carbon plates pumis Midol is an aliphatic TPU based one That's designed to deliver big energy Returns while the Met speed opts from More familiar PE based foam to deliver Big bounce and big energy returns too at The outso it's a pummer grip one for the Elite 3 with plenty of rubber up front And at the hill while aex uses one that Focuses that rubber coverage at the 4ot And the lateral areas of the [Music] Shoe so it comes to the fit of these two Shoes I've got a uk9 in both which is a Us10 in both but they do have slightly Different fits I say the ax is a little Bit shorter which really suits me as Someone who is a small uk9 and sometimes

I'm a uk8.5 whereas I do find the DV Nitro 3 a little bit long so I'd Probably look at going a half size down In the pumer if I got it again now Because like I say I'm on the fence Between those two sizes and it has quite A long torpedo shape I find otherwise no Concerns to all about the fit of them Good secure lock down around the midfi For fast running and taking turns at Speed and no rubbing or any other issues At the heel of the shoe the fit for me In these two shoes the Puma DV8 Nitro Elite 3 I found it to be a very Comfortable shoe but is quite roomy There's a bit of extra space before my Big toe and quite a lot of space around The side of my foot in the forefoot so I'd probably say that even though I was Absolutely fine with it in the running That I've done in it I've done about 50k In the shoe now um I would say for some People they're probably going to want a Size down half a size in this shoe Because it's a race shoe you want a bit More of a secure fit um and yeah there's A bit more space than you'd normally get In a shoe uh The Meta speed Sky Paris is A lot more locked down so there's a lot Less space for me in the for for it Definitely fits me perfectly in my UK Size 8 and I would stay to my size There's not a lot of wiggle room in the Front of this shoe so uh as a race shoe

Goes fits pretty much perfectly so in Terms of fit I've had both of these Shoes in a UK size eight now that is my Typical running shoe size and I would Say going true to size for me has worked Very well and I've got pretty skinny Narrow feet so when it comes to fitting Into these Racing shoes which generally Can be a little bit on the snug fit I Have found them pretty good on both of These shoes they have got very light Thin breathable uppers you know minimal Material you know what you'd expect to See from racing shoe I would say in Terms of space up front of the toes I Think you are getting I think more Volume in terms of the toe box on the Metas speed Sky Paris I think the Puma Devi8 Nitro Elite 3 is a bit longer in Comparison and there may be an argument To say going half size down or maybe Looking going half size down though I Haven't M you know I haven't minded it Being a little bit longer for me Ultimately when you get into kind of Midfoot the lockdown has been very good You're getting kind of different laces I Think it's a bit more standard on the Peu compared to the ones that you're Getting on the asex spe Sky Paris the Tongue is a lot skinnier on the aex shoe As well too I think I kind of prefer the Combination of the lacing and the tongue On the pum Dev Elite 3 just a bit more

Traditional for me and I think it just Offers a more reliable lockdown it's the More easiest shoe of the two to get on As well I would say as well I always Find the shoe very awkward to get on Beginning of a races or if I'm trying to Get out and running the shoe whereas I Think you can slip this on a little bit Easier Hill collars the panning is very Similar I would say overall and I've had No issues in terms kind of lock down or Any kind of you know Annoying kind of Heel rub either so yeah for me going Through to size has been fine there may Be an argument to go maybe half size Down in P d8 Nitro Elite 3 if you find It a little bit long but I think in General the Met speed Sky pares pretty Much fit very well for me uh and I think Generally going TR sze should be okay For most [Music] People both of these shoes are along the Standout new car plate running shoes of The year I've talked a lot about the ASX Metas speed Sky Paris so might as well Talk about it first this is my favorite Racing shoe I set my Marathon PB of 227 In the shoe at the London Marathon also Run probably my best half if not my Fastest short races as well a park r p PB and all around I think it's Absolutely amazing it's really Lightweight but still has a nice big

Slab of bouncy foam underf foot and it Just feels a little bit poppier and then It gives you a little bit more back than Other carbon Racing shoes especially in The foref foot even the metas speed Edge Paris which is a shoe we've been testing Recently it's got the same foam in there But the way it's set up with the metas Speed Sky Paris as you push through onto Your foref foot it feels like you just Get that little bit more back in a more Explosive feeling and I do think this New Pham is really well design so it's It's balanced it's not really soft and Squishy but there is a little bit of Give there and it just comes back and Spad all that energy gets returned Really well and yeah perfect racing shoe For any distance nice and lightweight Only concerns potentially are that the Heel rber doesn't extend all the way Back and on my left shoe I've scuffed up A bit at the back there and this yellow Stuff is flaking off which some people Won't like but I've done over 100 miles In this shoe now it still feels as good As ever I think it's a really amazing Shoe I also think the pumers are really Amazing shoe like it's got a similar Feeling foam Under Foot like as in it's A little bit firm than some of the Really squishy stuff out there like Nike Zoomx or hocus peber foam and it gives You a lot of energy return a lot of Pop

Just a really nice setup to the shoe as Well done a couple of long sessions in The shoe and a 10k race on mixed terrain And it's really comfortable it's more Comfortable than previous versions of The DVA Nitro Elite because you've got The extra stack I there get a lot of Bounce back it feels like a very fast Efficient shoe all around but I think it Probably doesn't have that that little Spark I get from the metas speed Sky Paris under the foref foot in particular I just ran in both of these shoes at the Same time and it it does just feel that Little bit more energetic and Lively Underf foot the Met speed Sky Paris and They're both very lightweight shoes the Met speed Sky Paris is the lighter one Though and I do think you're getting Slightly more back from this phone I Think the pummer is certainly a standout Shoe in the market and it's actually a Fair bit cheaper than the Met speed Sky Paris in the UK in particular so that's Something to consider but I think They've got quite similar R but you get A little bit more back from the metas Speed Sky Paris and it is noticeable and I think this almost feels a bit more Similar to the metas speed Edge Paris in That it feels like a really really good Carbon shoe whereas to me the metas Speed SC Paris Feels Like A Step Above Other carbon shoes which is why it's

Locked in as my favorite and I've been Using it for so many races of late there Are some advantages to the Puma though You have got a better out Soo on the Shoe not only in terms of protection Durability unless you scrape it off like Tom does with out soole somehow but it's Also got slightly better grip in the wet Cuz you've got that pummer grip out Soole it's a little bit cheaper and cuz It's got a slightly firmer feeling Probably a little bit less give underf It might be a little bit more stable Than the ax although haven't really had Problems with either of these shoes on That front so yeah it was a very Enjoyable run test in both of these Shoes but every time I pull the Met Speed Paris on like whether to just do a Little test video like this or to go out And racing it again it just really Reminds me how amazing it is I'm fairly New to the metas speed Sky Paris I've Only been testing it for a couple of Weeks now um and I have been really Impressed with it so far I really like The A6 metas speed Sky plus I thought it Was a really enjoyable shoe I did a few Races in that and thought it was really Good but it was never one of my top tier Shoes when it came to racing I I never Really picked it up as a main option for Races I only used it really in the Testing that I was doing to see how it

Performed in races the A6 s Paris I've Only done one race in this so far and uh That went really well I really enjoyed This shoe it's definitely a big Improvement on the metas speed Sky Plus Um it just feels a lot bouncier just Feels like there's a lot more to this Shoe I like a lot of cushioning I like a Lot of Bounce and engy return that this Is definitely a shoe that does that now And um for me it's a shoe that I would Definitely pick up as one of my top Choices for race day I've got a race Coming up in two days in this shoe which I'm really looking forward to doing it's Not often that I get to pick a shoe that I really want to wear when i' go and Race because I've got so many shoes to Test but finally um I'm just taking the Shoe out cuz I want to go and race in it Um and because it delivers uh really Really well um the other shoes that I Really like things like the alphafly 1 Um the vaporfly this is up there now With those shoes it feels like it's got A very comparable ride to it it's Probably a little bit firmer than those Shoes but not a lot it's definitely got A nice bit of propulsion a nice bit of Pop off of the um off of the plate and The the phone that the SF turbo plus Foam it's just a really good ratio now And sits up there with the best of the Best um and i' I've enjoyed all the runs

That I've done in it um so I'm really Hoping to uh do a few more races in it Soon I've got half marathon coming up Soon which I'm going to be using this For U and I'd really like to use it for Marathon maybe when I do Valencia at the End of the year but yeah it's it's a Really impressive shoe uh and it does a Lot it just it just does what you want It to do when you're when you're racing The Puma DV8 nit Elite 3 much of the Same it is a fantastic race shoe and It's really come on a lot in the in the Most recent version the earlier two Versions of the Puma DV8 Nitro Elite I Liked but they weren't quite For me they didn't have the energy Return I like from my Ray shoes they Didn't have the the level of cushioning That I want and I only really use those Shoes for five 5Ks or 10ks and even then I'd never really pick them over my Alpha Flies or anything like that this new Version is much more like what you could Expect from um most Big R shoes out so The Alp flies and The Vapor Flies it's Got a very similar style of foam it's a Lot boun here there's a lot more eny Return in it it's just a much better Shoe for running longer distances and For somebody like me who likes a little Bit of extra bouns and um and Midol foam In their raoes this is it now and it's Really up there pum has done a great job

With this shoe um and it's definitely One of the better raoes out at the Moment and definitely sits up there as a Top Contender for most Runners now who Are looking for a shoe that can take Them from 5K racing all the way up to Marathon racing previous version of the Shoe I wouldn't have used for a m half Marathon or Marathon because they just Just weren't Cushing enough for me this Is now I'd be happy to use this for half Marathon and a marathon and I think it's Really good solid shoe that just cruises Nicely gives you quite a lot back when You're running it and just feels really Really comfortable when you're out on The run so very similar shoes in a lot Of ways and both really good options now Um from the brands also say the grip on These two shoes it's uh Puma grip on the Outsole of the uh Puma dev8 Nitro Elite 3 fantastic outsole um for grip uh for Durability in most of the shoes however I did have a problem where as usual if You watch this Channel you'll know that I tend to destroy all of my shoes by Ripping off the back of the shoe so I Did Rip this off after just about 20K in The shoe and I've had to put it back on With Shu uh so if you are the sort of Person who scuffs their uh heel section Of the shoe this outsole is a lot less Than you get on many of Puma's shoes so Uh just bear that in mind the A6 met

Speed Sky Paris haven't as many Kilometers in the shoe as I have done in The uh pum deviate nit Elite 3 but it Seems pretty good so far um I think this Is really good outsole it's not as Grippy as the um pum Dev Nite 3 but Solid and uh no issues at all so it Turns my running experience in these two Shoes I think has been very enjoyable Overall these are two great shoes to run Fast in I have raced with them at kind Of 5K I have used them like 10K half Marathon kind of marathon uh Pace I've Used for track sessions as well too and They felt fantastic to run fast and if You want shoes that are super light Super aggressive super bouncy and these Are qualities I would associate with These shoes now these are super light Shoes as I said this is the light of the Two shoes but you know this isn't a Heavy shoe when stretch with imagination But if you want the light issue then it Is the metas speed Sky Paris fits have Been great for me and all of my runs are Said across distances I think there's Not a huge amount in it in terms of the Shorter distances I think they feel very Similar in terms of that feeling and I Think they offer a very good experience There I think in the longer distances I Think one thing I probably noticed is That I've appreciated a little bit more Of the foam that you get in the for foot

On the Met speed Sky Paris whereas you Get a little bit less in the for foot of The Puma DV8 Nitro Elite three what That's what that's meant for me Ultimately is that when I have kind of Starting to cruise maybe got a little Bit tied in places I've just appreciated That extra level of um kind of foam the For foot to kind of drop onto on my toes And I just think you know it's a small Thing for me but I think I have noticed That I've liked that a little bit more On my longer runs than met speed Sky Paris I think another thing to think About here is when have to ease off and Not everyone's going to be able to kind Of always run all out in these shoes or Race all out in these shoes I feel like The pumo is a little bit more Accommodating when you have to ease off It's less stable than the devi8 Nitro Elite 2 but I do think compared to the Met Sky Paris I think it's more Accommodating it's slightly easing off I Think obviously things like out soole Both got great out sools you know when I've run and racing them kind of you Know dry conditions I think wet Conditions as well too they've been Absolutely fine and I've run in Rainer Wet conditions in both of these shoes They're gripping has been very good for Me cornering is great as well too you Know ax and I think P Mak some of the

Best of out SS in terms of durability I Think you probably going to manage to Get a bit more out the DV so I would Still be saving it for kind of those Kind of important kind of race Pace runs For racing I think you know I've been Impressed by the improvements in the Durability particularly at the hill on The Met speed Sky PR compared to Previous versions so yeah these are two Standout carbon Racing shoes two super Light Racing shoes with similar feelings In terms of that ride in terms of how They perform I think across distances Across Paces as well too and yeah I Haven't been disappointed in any of the Runs I've done in these shoes and I Think that's kind of Real Testament to The work that I think particularly asex Has done with the metp sky p and Evolving this shoe and this line to what We have here now and then obviously the P DV8 Nitro Elite 3 particularly with The changes that been made from the DV8 Nitro Elite [Music] To so it comes to uh I think the pum is A great shoe but at the moment for me The atic Met speed SC Paris is edging Everything else out on the market and It's the one I'd go for I think it's Worth paying the extra for this shoe It's a really light carbon shoe it's the Really bouncy feeling carbon shoe just

Feels so good all around the setup's Perfect for races of any distance like I Said I've done fast 5Ks 10ks and my Fastest marathon in this shoe I really Don't think there's anything I wouldn't Be Keen to use it for in terms of fast Running the pum is still really good It's excellent value I think this new Foam is really good the aliphatic TPU They have in their latest carbon plate Racing shoes be very happy to La up Human racing it over any distance but I Think the Met speed C Paris are similar But just a little bit better so it's the One i' pick out of these two myself so My verdict on these two shoes is a Tricky one because they are quite Similar in a lot of ways to be honest I Wouldn't really mind picking up either Of these for anything from 5K to Marathon properly I haven't done a Marathon in either of these but I would Be happy to pick it up and use either of These for a marathon so I think it just Comes down to the slight um better Performance of The Met speed Sky Paris For me I just think it feels a little Bit more um faster it just feels like It's a little bit more eny return in it And it just feels a bit more comfortable Over uh longer distance runs so I'm Going to go for the a6m 3 Sky Paris but There really isn't a lot in it I think Both of these shoes are really

Comparable now they're very similar in a Lot of ways uh I just think there's a Little bit more pickup in the sky Paris And I think maybe over Marathon distance It's probably going to feel a little bit More comfortable uh and just a little Bit more energy return over the course Of that Marathon so when I do Valencia In December I think I'm probably going To go for the A6 met speed Sky Paris um But if I uh if I had to use the pum Devate N3 I wouldn't be annoyed I'd be Very happy to run in this and I wouldn't Have said that about the earlier Versions of the shoe uh i' I'd have been A worried to uh wear the uh one or the Two versions of the shoe if I was going To do a marathon because it's just a Little bit too firm for me but now these Two shoes sit up there with the best of The best now and it's going to be a Tricky um decision when we start picking Between which are the best race shoes Out there at the moment so my take Whether you should go for the aex Met Speed Sky Paris or the pum d Nitro Elite 3 now the way I look at it these are two Fantastic top tier carbon Racing shoes I Think if you go for either I think You're going to get a very good Experience I think you're going to get Similar traits in terms of that Performance and that experience and the Types of runs it designed for this is a

Shoe that I think is probably overall The better shoe it's obviously more Expensive probably a little bit more Harder to get a hold of compared to this Shoe as well but I think from kind of 5K Up to longer distances this is a shoe That really does Excel for me across all Fronts and just it's a very fun shoe to To run in what i' would say about the Pummer DV8 Nitro Elite 3 it is cheaper I Think in terms of being you know good Value at that kind of top tier carbon Racing shoe category I think this is Absolutely a good one to look at I would Say that maybe this is a touch more Accessible than this shoe I think in Terms of the fit in terms of the Experience and getting out and running Quick in this and I think there's good Qualities in that mids sole a really Good strong out soole and a very good Weight overall in this shoe as well too So me personally I think this is the Best shoe but I I think ultimately if You go for this shoe I don't think You're going to get a massively inferior Experience I think a lot of people going To really enjoy running in the PID DV8 Nitro Elite and probably get more on With this shoe compared to the metas Speed Sky Paris but this is definitely The standout one and if I had a short Distance race a longer one this is Probably the shoe that I'd be going for

Okay so they have it that is our take on How the aex metas speed Sky Paris Compares to the Puma DV8 Nitro Elite 3 Now if you got any questions about these Two shoes or there are other comparisons You want to see with either of these two Shoes do let us know in the comments as Always like And subscribe hit that Little bell to find out about latest Videos and yeah we'll see you for the Next one test this video
