Hello and welcome to runers my name is Nick and in this video we're going to be Comparing the mauno Neo Vista and the Aex super blast [Music] To so the Mauna Neo Vista and super Blast 2 are two of our favorite new Shoes of 2024 so far they are both very Versatile shoes that broadly fall into The super trainer category you've got Some really exciting Foams and other Tech in these shoes to make them Comfortable but also pretty lightweight And quite Speedy super lass is the more Expensive shoe it's £200 or $200 whereas A Neo Vista is £ 150 or $180 they're Quite similar in weight but the Superlast is a bit lighter it's 252 G or 8.9 oz in the uk9 whereas a neov Vista Is 259 G or 9.1 Oz that's a UK 8.5 Slightly smaller shoe they both have an 8mm drop and a very high stack height It's 44.5 mm at the heel in the Neo Vista dropping to 36.5 at the 4ot where Is a super blast is 45 at the heel and 37 mm at the for foot so in the Neo Vista you've got mizuno's NZ NXT foam in The midsole you have two layers of that It's a soft and springy EVA foam and Running through that you have a nylon Plate which you can see from the bottom Of the shoe thanks to this huge midso Cutout that runs along the length of the Bottom of the shoe pretty much the shoe
Has mizuno's smooth speed assist rocker Which is set at a 5° angle as opposed to The more aggressive higher angles you Have on shoes like the wave Rebellion Pro Racing shoes you have a booty style Upper with an integrated tongue Obviously comes up quite high at the Front and back of the collar there's a Little bit of padding but in general It's quite a flexible design around the Back of the shoe and then you do have a Rubber out soole covering all the foam That's going to come into contact with The ground around that big cutout with The super Blast 2 you have an upgraded Midsole compared to the first version of The shoe it's now made of FF turbo plus That's the same foam as used on the Metas speed Sky Paris and Edge Paris as Opposed to the FF turbo used on the Original super blast you there's also a Change in the foam used on the bottom of The shoe which is now FF blast plast Eco As opposed to the FF blast plus used in The past youve got a pretty standard Engineered mesh upper with a partially Gusted tongue a little bit of padding Around the heel and a slightly more Substantial heel counter than on the Mauno although they're still fairly Flexible at the back of the shoe you've Got an AAR rubber out soole with the Rubber used fairly sparingly there's a Lot of exposed foam there but all the
Key impact areas on the shoe are [Music] Covered okay I'm joined by Tom now uh Tom fit first how do these shoes fit for You uh so I haven't got the super blast Here cuz uh Mike stolen off me um but The super blast I found to be absolutely Fine I'm size eight in the UK uh I think It's a little bit shorter than the Original super blast which a few people Commented saying that they had a bit of An issue with the fit on the original Super blast I didn't um but I think this Is a little bit smaller but it's still Quite a roomy shoe in the forefoot quite Comfortable nice bit of padding Definitely stay to my size in the super Blast 2 in the uh mauno n Vista um it's Quite a different design it's got this Sort of booty stretchy upper Um I think this is uh is a roomy shoe I Think you could probably size down half A size possibly um I was I was fing my UK size8 but there is a bit of extra Space in this for me cool yeah I've Actually got different sizes so the Superl last 2 I've got my normal uk9 Which is a us10 and fits really well I Think it has come down a little bit in Length compared to the superlast one Which suits me because I'm kind of in Between that uk9 uk8.5 and this now fits Me really well got quite a traditional Upper no problems with it at all very
Happy in that size with the mauno I went For the smaller of my two sizes because It does seem to you know it's got that Booty fit I think sometimes I prefer a Slightly tighter fit with a booty and The lengthwise it's better for me having Gone half a size down so I'd say if you Are on the fence between two sizes with The mauno I'd look at going the half the Lower the short the smaller size but in Super blast I'd go for the bigger size If that makes sense um otherwise no Problems with it at all yeah good uh but Yeah yeah we've obviously got the booty Upper here I'm not a huge fan of this Booty upper but I think it's fine Actually in terms of fit there's no Concerns at all it doesn't R it's tight Enough for me but probably slightly Prefer the more traditional upper you Have on the on the [Music] Ax diving into the run test then Tom uh Two very very good shoes I'd say two of My most shoes I've enjoyed the most this Year uh but yeah how have you found them Well it's not often I do a versus where I love both of the shoes um so this is Quite a difficult one um but two very Different shoes I think so um even Though I I I I like both of these shoes A lot and I want both of these shoes um There I do think there's a different Feel to them and I think that's probably
A differentiated for a lot of people the Super Blast 2 I don't think it's a Massive difference from the first super Blast I think it's more of the same I Think the pham's slightly better that New um what's it which one is It FF turbo plus uh which I think is a Little bit there a little bit more Energy in it it feels a little bit Faster um but not massively I think if You if you've got the original superlast You're get more of the same really um But I I still think it's one of the best Shes out there it's uh for me I use it For quite a lot of runs but mainly for Those ones where I'm picking up the pace A bit so Tempo runs things like that the First superlast I used a lot for Marathon training uh as I was getting Into the uh you know 25k 30k runs with Marathon pace in it that that shoe was My go-to for it and the superlast 2 Pretty much the same it's it's it's just A fantastic allrounder shoe that really Does skew towards the the faster Tempo Stuff Um Muno waver Belly mauno Neo Vista is um equally it's Quite versatile shoe you can do a lot in This shoe but I think it's a lot more Fun I think it's a bouncier shoe I think It's a softer shoe I think it's just Shoe that even though it's versatile it Does skew more towards those daily
Comfortable fun miles than necessarily The faster sessions for me I think I can Do the faster sessions in it I just I'd Take this out if I was going out for a Nice nice Fun Run uh and i' I I I think It could do a fantastic job at that as Well so even though they both tick all The same boxes I think the ride is very Different in both of them yeah I think Agree with quite a lot that so obviously I got the super blast a little bit after You guys and I've just been racking up The miles over the last kind of four Days I've done 50k in it and I really Like it like I don't think it's actually A huge you like I say departure from the First one I was bit surprised by that Because I do think the latest meta speed Shoes feel a lot different with the FF Turbo plus like there've been big Improvements this just feels like a bit Like a refinement it's a fantastic shoe I've done two progression runs in it Going from easy to steady pace and my Long run on Sunday in it and it's it is A shoe that makes it very effortless to Pick up the pace and today even when I I Was really you know struggling bit the England game was yesterday I'm hanging a Bit and I'm a bit stiff and sore and I Was just doing progression and moov Through the gears I thought stepping up To any kind of pace is going to feel Really hard and I looked down and I was
Already kind of hitting the pace and the Shoe just felt fantastic heart rate low All that kind of stuff the benefits you Kind of expect from Super foam super Trainers all really abundant in it and Yeah feels good at cruisy paces feels Good at those kind of pushing that Tempo Pace is very much like what you said Those marathon training runs where You're very rarely going flat out but You're doing long sections of pretty Hard Paces tired legs really comfortable Shoe it's really good for all of that And then the mauno uh I think very quite Similar in terms of the purpose actually I'd use it for so I think it is Definitely softer and balc here I had a Little pootle around just now wearing Both at the same time actually surprised Me when you put them side by side the Superlast is a little bit squishier and Bouncier than I kind of think when I'm Running it by itself but it's definitely Softer than the a Vista and it's easier I think to engage that softness and the Bounce in it um feels really good feels Better probably the super blast at just Flat out easy Paces I'd say having done A few progression runs in this it's Really comfy for just going really Slowly in and then does have a bit Bounce again it's got that kind of Effortless Pace to it it's not quite as Effortless in the super blast I probably
Have a bit more idea of my Pace in this Shoe but definitely has a lot of spring There I've done a track session in this Shoe as well and it does have that top End speed so certainly they're both very Versatile but I would say yeah this does Skew a little bit more towards those Easy runs but I'd say actually more than The kind of use case that being the Difference between them I think I'd use These for similar runs it's just the Ride's a bit different it is a lot Softer and bouncier and I think as Someone who's I'm not that heavy I'm not Really a Bounder I kind of a shuffly Short stride I find it I sink into this A lot more and get a little more bounce Out of it than I do from the super blast But I think because it's a bigger wedge Of foam and a slightly firmer foam so I Think maybe like heavy Runners will Probably get more bounce from the super Blast than us even because they're Probably sinking in a bit more but You' Definitely got I think a bit more spring In the mauno especially at slower Paces I'd say yeah I think it really comes Down to um so I think if you were Looking for an allrounder shoe um you'd Be happy with both of these shoes I Think they're they're really good for That but I do think the upper and the Fit of the shoe is probably the thing That a lot of people are going to have a
Problem with with the mauno just because I'm not a big fan of this booty these Booty uppers I don't really like the the It always feels a little bit the shoes Not necessarily that unstable which is Surprising considering the stack and the The the the foam that's in there um but I do feel like with these booty uppers When you're turning corners and things Your foot sort of pushes against it and You you lose a little bit of that um Control over it whereas the super Blast 2 hold i' got my hand up here like I've Got it the super Blast 2 is a much edit That in the super is a much more uh Locked down feel to that upper and it Does feel much racer to me when I'm I'm Going faster in it yeah I probably it Slight less than I did I did go half Size down so I have got a slightly more Dialed in fit on it but it definitely is I think it's booty ERS I don't mind Booty uppers I think I'm pretty neutral On them in general but I don't but in This case I think it I it felt a bit Oppressive at times to me sometimes a Bit much it's it rises very high at the Heel as well which I'm not a huge fan of Just again just feels like a lot of Material when I'd rather have less Material but nothing too much against it But yeah in terms of the day-to-day Miles of Life uh day-to-day miles of Life we'll say I think there are a few
Little things super blast will have the Edge and I think I think it is a little Bit more stable than the mauno because It isn't quite as soft you haven't got That big cutting that been cut out which Uh does mean you're going to get catch Stones in that occasionally as well Which is again not ideal and i' like I Said I think the upper is bit more Comfortable bit easier to use but more People probably get on with it and if You're looking at a shoe that you are Looking as an allrounder to do Everything in constantly use day and day Out those little things add up to maybe A little bit more quality of life of the Super blast but in terms of the actual Ride feel I don't think there's too much In it I think I'd use these shoes for The same things i' use them for lots of Long runs progression runs that kind of Thing actual Flatout speed I think both Of them can do it but I would use a Different shoe myself and then I'm very Happy poing around them probably Slightly happier poing around in the Mauno at slow speeds but the super blast Is great as slow speeds as well for me I Find it really nice it's a slightly Stiffer feeling shoe but not in a way That I find unpleasant actually so yeah Lots of things similar about them in Terms of actual performance both very Impressive but some probably some mild
Quality of life things with the super Blast that will make it a bit easier Dayto [Music] Day verdict this is this is a really Tricky one and actually I still don't Know where I'm going to go saying this Now so Tom you go first you give a Verdict here but I think it is a really Hard one so I've got two ways of looking At this one is if you remove the cost um And you said right you get one of these Shoes and that's your one shoe for doing Most of your training in I would go for The super Blast 2 I just Think if because I do marathons because Um I not at the moment because I'm quite Lazy at the moment but normally when I'm Doing marathons I'm doing a lot of long S hours of painting a day well I'm doing A lot of painting and I'm not wearing my Super plus 2 to do painting um but if uh When I'm doing marathons I I want I want The super Blast 2 just because of all Those long runs all those Tempo efforts It just makes I just think it's bit Better For Those runs um and just just Just feels a lot faster and easier to Maintain that pace I don't think the Neo Vista's far off that to be honest um I Think I'd be happy with both of them I Just think there's a little bit more on The racy side for me with the super Blast 2 so if it came down to somebody
Coming up to me with two boxes and Saying which one of these do you want For the next few months I'd go for the Super Blast 2 but I think the big thing About these is the price and the Neo Vista comes in at a really really good Price for what is essentially a top tier Super trainer at the moment so um if it Came down to price I would well as it as It will for everyone who who would have To buy these um I think the ne vistor is The best the best call for most people Just because you save a lot of money um And I don't think there's much in it Yeah I agree with especially in the UK Where it's 50 Quid the difference right That's huge difference as prob you know That's pair of pum velocity Nitro 3es in The sale so um I would say in the UK i' Would be buying the mauno I think it is Very close I love it I think it's a Really fun shoe to run in I think at Easy Paces it probably feels a little Bit better and if you're doing a lot of Training where you're mostly doing easy Runs and then hard sessions which you Might use a kind of racing shoe or Really lightweight shoe for then it'll Probably eat up the miles better than The super blast if if you're doing a lot Of those progression runs those Tempo Runs we talked about I think super blast Has a little Edge but again it is really Close the only thing that would really
Sway me potentially is that I feel a bit More comfortable using the super blast In kind of general like things like Canal toe paaths and running in the Forest in the summer and just running Around camber Pavements and like with Roots and that I think it's just a Little bit more stable it's got more of A full out so and that does make a bit Of a difference in terms of just picking Up and using it every single day but for 50 less I would definitely take the Mauno I think that's definitely the case At same price I'd lean super blast but If you like a really bouncy feeling I Wouldn't I wouldn't hesitate to say get The mauno instead because I do think it Does a lot of the same stuff and it is Really bouncy in the US it's $20 the Difference it's not not as much you know I yeah it's a bit more a bit tougher you Know I probably would go superlast then Just again cuz I prefer things like the Upper and the out sole ride field you Know is is quite similar but overall They're great shoes I don't think I Think actually now super Bloss maybe a Slight bit more of a problem the super Blast 2 super BL one cuz I do feel like There are some fantastic shoes coming in A little bit cheaper basically and you Know they weren't there the first time Around so even things like the HX 6 New Balance Rebel V4 they aren't as good as
A super blast but I use them for a lot Of the same stuff they're much cheap They're great shoes really fun to run in Muno I think is you know almost on a par Potentially slightly better for easy Runs maybe not quite as good at the FAS Stuff and that is 50 lounds Less in the UK so yeah I I would give it to the Muno On that basis but yeah like I say two Boxes in hand i' I'd take the super Blast out of this person offering us Shoes his hands looking forward to Meeting this guy yeah good guy good guy Strange Life Yeah well yeah yeah
