The Superblast 2 follows the hugely popular Superblast with a couple of key updates. The first of those is a new FF Blast Turbo+ midsole layer designed to be lightweight, bouncy and more durable, and there’s a redesigned engineered woven upper to improve comfort, breathability and fit.
Underneath that layer is the thinner FF Blast Plus Eco foam that works alongside the FF Blast Turbo+ to improve cushioning and comfort of the ride.
The Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 takes learnings from its hugely popular predecessors by making a few modifications to improve the ride. The most important of those is a re-engineered wing nylon plate to provide additional reinforcement while maintaining flexibility.
There’s also an updated mesh upper design that aims to give a more secure fit than the slightly roomy Endorphin Speed 3, and a new lattice outsole rubber to improve grip and durability.

Its hugely popular predecessors by Making a few modifications to improve The ride the most most important of Those is a re-engineered wing nylon Plate to provide additional Reinforcement while maintaining Flexibility there's also an updated mesh Upper design that aims to give a more Secure fit than the slightly roomy Endorphin Speed 3 and a new ltis outso Rubber to improve grip and durability The shoe still uses the Brand's power on PB phone to ensure a high level of Propulsion when picking up the pace Combining that with a smooth ride thanks To the impressive speed roll [Music] Technology okay so Nick the super blast Two and the uh s endorphin speed four How has the fit been for you in both of These shoes it's been pretty good I've Got a uk9 which is a US 10 in both of These shoes I would say the superlast Actually despite the fact it looks like Twice the shoe in terms of size than the Speed has the uh closer fit in the toes Like a slightly more dialed in fit it's A really good fit for me as someone who Is kind of in between a 8.5 and a 9 in The UK so yeah had a really good fit in Su blast no concerns at all same is true Of the speed I think you know it did get A bit narrower than the speed 3 which Was a bit wide for me I still had to
Really crank the laces to pull them in Cuz I've got quite a narrow foot but no Concerns with heel rub with the Endor Speed 4 so yeah was happy overall in my Normal size with both shoes how about You Tom yeah pretty easy uh so my UK Size eight I've got them both in UK size Eight and uh they've got very similar Fit for me I've got pretty average WID Foot I don't tend to have problems with A lot of shoes um both of these fit Almost identically for me in terms of Comfort I would say there's probably a Little bit more space in front of the um Toe in the super Blast 2 for me I Haven't got it here cuz Mike stolen it Um but very similar and I definitely say It's my size in both of the Shoes Okay so the run test Nick this is Going to be a very difficult one one for You super Blast 2 endorphin speed 4 What's the run test been life both of These shoes I mean it's an absolute Clash of the Titans this isn't it I mean These are both outstanding shoes and you Know take your pick you're going to get A great shoe but obviously got the Plated shoe in the Dophin speed 4 it's The one we had before it the differences To the superlast for me are it's Definitely got a firmer feel to it it's Got a more notable rocket feel and you Do feel how much closer to the ground You are especially under the forefoot
Than you are in the super blast with the You know the lower stack you have on the Shoe I think it turns over a bit quicker For me it feels a lot narrower and Nimbler for me as well so in the sense That even though it's the same weight as A superlast more or less and you I think They're probably similar in terms of Speed output for workouts and that it Just feels like a faster shoe a raer Shoe because of that more grounded Feeling the narrower feel but at the Same time really like the speed for just Mooching around at easy Paces like that Won't be for everyone I think it's not Probably as as comfortable as a super Blast at relaxed Paces but I've always Found it great for very slow speeds and The super blast is yeah kind of Something different in a way you know Yeah very very versatile again a really Good allrounder much higher stack a lot More depth to the foam it's not Necessarily springy neither these shoes I' say are Flatout springy but I do Think the superlast has a bit more Bounce to it than the Endorphin speed And it doesn't have as much of a rocker But still turns over really nicely for Such a big shoe as a high Cadence Runner Even one with this massive heal on it The heal is more noticeable than it is On the speed but it still turns over Really quickly for me it feels like a
Much more lightweight shoe really good On long runs more Comfort than the speed When you're pushing hard over long Distances under the forefoot i' noticed And just very easy to go through the Gears in it as it is in the speed 4 so I Think you've got two different feelings To produce almost equally impressive and Versatile shoes all around Tom you also Like both these shoes it's fair to say Yes yes I do but it's um I I think you Hit the nail on the head with the feel Of the speed in comparison to to the to The 2 plus 2 because I really like the Speed but for me it doesn't really work At easy Paces as much as quite a lot of Other shoes that I've got because it is A little bit more minimal as we all know I love High stack shoes I love Cushioning um and I find the speed a Great shoe for training when I'm going Out and I'm and I have a train a hard Session that I want to do or or a Relatively uh tougher session not Necessarily always for like a full-on Track session or something but if I'm Picking up the pace a little bit the Speed's good for that um it's not got Enough cushioning for me to go out Comfortably just for a nice easy run um I I want a bit more cushioning from that It's fine I mean I can use it I if I go On holiday next week and take this I'm Not going to moan about it um but I'm
Not going to reach for it if I've got Other shoes and the super Blast 2 I Think delivers um the the same sort of Runs that I'd want from the speed but Does them with a lot more cushioning um And a slightly different ride um and I I still think they're both fantastic Shoes and they're probably in the top Well both they're definitely going to be The top five of the best super trainers Out there um but for me I think there The there's just a little bit more of a Smooth ride for me um from that Midol Foam in the super Blast 2 than in the Speed 4 feels like it's doing a little Bit more of the work for me whereas the Speed 4 feels like I'm doing lots of the Work but it's helping it's allowing me To go fast but superl 2 just feels like There's just more in it for me see That's kind of slightly the opposite I Have when I'm moving fast this is pretty Coming down to difference in running Styles and stuff like that I feel like The speed is incredibly efficient for me And like if I'm looking at these two Shoes now and tomorrow if I was going to Go and do a hard session on the track or A hard hour even my instinct is the Speed because the geometry of the shoe Has always worked so well for me as I'm Just take a lot of steps very high can Very shuly Style just turns over very Quickly for me rolling me from my heel
To the toes and the fact it is narrower And Nimble is something I appreciate Because because I'm not necessarily Putting as much force into a shoe like The super lass as you maybe and other Runners I don't necessarily get as much Back so the benefit of having a a shoe That isn't necessarily lighter but feels Lighter in nimer I think comes across Mentally to me when I'm turning my feet Over at those fast paces and again I Think a lot of this will be perception And preference rather than actual uh Result if you went to the lab I think I'd probably be you know feeling pretty Efficient in both of these shoes and Producing the same kind of stuff I'd Lov Going fast and superlast as well but Actually for a Flatout session I think I'd probably give it to the speed but I Would feel less confident about it over A long longer hard session just because Of the comfort factor being greater with The super blast for sure especially Under the 4ot a huge depth of foam Bouncy foam there I think feels really Good for those longer sessions and then Feels good for like just kind of General Long run so like Sunday I a normal long Run in the shoe it just went out for 90 Minutes you know rocked around picked up The pace on flatter sections but you Know just keep keeping the heart rate Fairly low and that it feels amazing in
That in the super Blast 2 it's not Something I necessarily you would enjoy Doing as much in the speed 4 like if I Was going to go and do a real hard Progression run I'd probably be pretty Close between them but for kind of General runs I think suass does Edge it A little bit but yeah I do feel the way The speed works for me just really helps With some fast stuff at times yeah I do I do think the speed 4 is a bit nimbler Um and uh if I was going out to the Fast Five 10K it might Edge the superlast 2 For me but um for the for most runs Where I'm just maintaining a consistent Pace maybe a bit faster than my easy Runs then I think the superl 2 works Works really Well okay so this is this is one that's Going to be causing you stress uh give Me your verdict between the super Blast 2 and the speed 4 it's really hard cuz you you can make A case for both in a rotation you both Really expensive it is a little bit Cheaper the speed that should come into Play I think that is a good saving You're going to make there it's also a Shoot that does pop up in sales more Than the superlast has ever seem to but You could easily buy the superlast and Get a you know have a carbon racing shoe For the runs that I think I slightly Prefer in the speed and that would be a
Very natural rotation you know superlast Is basically everything and then you Have a Flatout shoe for that kind of Nimble feeling I'm talking about with The speed equally you get the speed and Then I could pick up just a pretty Regular cheap cushion shoe for mooching Around in but you know in that case I Probably still get a faster shoe myself So maybe the superlast is almost somehow Better value because of that cuz it does So much in a rotation but I think you Know if I was looking at these two shoes For a daily trainer to do load bit of Everything I probably would just about Lead to the speed for myself just Because I do think the rocker the Geometry works really well for me I like The slightly nimer feel as a someone Who's yeah likes picking up my feet a Lot I think it just works really well Yeah I mean it's so close I'd be very Happy getting the super blast as well Tom I guessing you're super blast in This all the way all the way I think Funny thing about the speed is that Every iteration of the speed I've very Much enjoyed it I always said it's one Of the best faster training shoes out There but I've never been an amazing fan Of the speed I've never banged on about It all the time like um you you used to Um but I think it needs another what Another four millimeters of foam under
The for foot I you'll like it a bit more Prob yeah probably probably but I mean It's always been a shoe that's sort of Sat just slightly under my top my Favorites um I've always understood why It's so good I've always said it's one Of the best shoes to get for people who Are looking for like an allrounder shoe Or uh just a fast training shoe um so no No shade on um on the speed it's just it I think it's really just cuz the my Style of running it doesn't it just Doesn't there's better shoes for it uh Superlast 2 is basically the best Example of a shoe that works really well For me because it does have a much more Higher stack it's still got the ability To run fast in it um and it just does Everything I want from you know a faster Training shoe uh so yeah I'm going to go Super Blast 2 all the way um but I still Think speed 4 is fantastic Shoe yeah and it's not so much of a Question of price here like apart from Sales like I said I do think the speed Will be in sales a lot more than the Super plus ever is but the speed escapes The kind of general you know amazement In Prior you get the super blast I know It is a bit more expensive than super Blast but it's like what 180 versus 200 Is it's a big leap once you go over 200 I think it's very offputting that price Tag so the speed feels a bit more
