This episode kicks off with the latest from the Nigel Sylvester x Air Jordan partnership. As Jerome and Luis dissect the new colorway, the duo discusses whether the brand used Nigel to hype up the Air Jordan 4 RM.
Speaking of the Jordan 4, 2025 is going to be loaded with them as another Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 is releasing, as well as two versions of the Undefeated x Air Jordan 4. On the topic of Jordan 4s, what is the likelihood that the OFF-WHITE x Air Jordan 4 “Bred” releases as the Euro-exclusive OFF-WHITE x Air Jordan 1 High will see a wide re-release this year? On the topic of collaborations, are there just too many in sneakers? Jerome says it’s hit or miss, but he sees more intentional collabs in the future. As Yachty and his Concrete Boys x Nike Air Force 1 make their way into the conversation, Luis calls back to the Yachty and Bimma interaction at ComplexCon where Bimma mentioned a lack of innovation on the pair.
As the two discuss more collaborations, A Ma Maniere is mentioned for its outstanding quality. How do you feel about them I said I Wasn't a fan of the M right and that I Wished and hoped that he would drop a Regular you know OG aj4 which the Sneaker guys listened thank you very Much and he's dropping one and it's in Red which is one of my second favorite Colorways in as far as sneaker palette What's your first favorite color my First favorite color way sure black red Bread black red bread you know the color That you don't want to buy anymore of Hey we're not getting into that okay Cool so the color that you don't want to Buy anymore of but cuz I have so many Right but do you feel as though Jordan Brand put Nigel's Name Behind the RM Just to push a new silhouette because in My opinion I feel like it's kind of Crazy to see him the face of the RM and Then just automatically jump to a Jordan 4 like okay he had two colorways of the RM but typically when someone like a Celebrity gets a signature shoe that's Their shoe for a minute and like you Don't really see a switch up for a while So it's kind of interesting to me to see Granted it wasn't the RM that started it For him like he had the Jordan one Before but it was just like interesting To me to see like damn okay here's a new Model and that's it now here's the Jordan 4 I think it was just like a ploy To just get the RM pushed but it's I'm
Happy to see him on a Jordan 4 and a Jordan one low yeah um I agree with you I so for starters I don't even believe That the RM is his like his model I feel Like they use him to launch and catapult That model to get eyes on it which is a Smart business tactic you have Nigel Whereas though we've been looking Forward to something from him again Because you know we had the aj1 yeah and Then we haven't really gotten anything Except for the airships bike airs the Bike ears and then in between that we Had the um when they had the Nike store In New York when they had that custom oh Right I forgot about that and the one Was his yeah yeah yeah so you're right That's that's pretty much it you know so Now to see him be in control of kind of Catap catapulting another model which I Feel like without him the RM isn't Popular and I feel like people will look At that as like how we kind of look at Like Team Jordans and stuff like that so Do you feel like the RM is now just Going to be a baseline basic shoe Without Nigel's name behind it like do You think it's going to sit on I feel Like it already is that is true because Right now besides uh the grandma Driveways and the OG greens they're the Only two that's like connected to him Yeah but there's a a good amount of Colorways yeah and he hasn't been behind
Any of them I feel like it's the RM Model and just like the Jordan one is Like obviously Jordan's first model Right they just had him like many other People that has a Jordan four or one or Three whatever the case may be he just Did a collaboration and the silhouette Happened to be the RM right and they Used him to launch it because launching It without him it would have flopped we Would have just flopped right I totally Get that cuz think about it the grandma Driveways and the OG greens would people Really have into them without Nigel's Name attached to it I remember a couple People discussing this and I would say The the fence greens cuz that's what it Was inspired by I think that one more so Because of how unique the color was and It's a new silhouette I think those two Factors Could Have Been Enough of a Driving force for just that colorway Right if it was just a oneoff yes Without Nigel's name I think that still Would have done decent numbers the the Driveway gray not as much even though it Still is a clean color way um I don't Think that one would have gotten as much Of a push as it did be without his name On it because like it's just a very Simple colorway but like I've said Before a mini swoosh will do it to a lot Of people yeah that simple mini swoosh Will do it to a lot of people in the
Community because we know where it stems From and we know what it means when it Comes to that mini swoosh being on a Shoe I feel that but in terms of the new Jordan 4 it's an all red upper we have Some vintage midou action going on and Then he has a bike air back tab now he Had it on the RM but it was a little Short Bus Shorty with the back tab with The new show so now he has the full Air Jordan 4 back tab with the bike air Congrats to him kudos to getting a Jordan 4 and I do think 2025 is going to Be the year of the four there's a lot of Jordan fours on this year's like release Date list and it's a beautiful thing cuz We both love the four started Wholeheartedly exactly so I think the Jordan one low in my opinion that we've Seen leaked I don't think that's going To do as well I think Travis just has Such a choke hold on the Jordan one low Model in terms of like hype and like Sellout releases that nigels kind of Floats under the radar and just seems Like a bare minimum like retail pair cuz I don't think there's going to really be Any bike air signage on the low from What I've seen so far like all the Pictures they've shown has just been Like a side profile exactly and I'm not Sure if that's like ual image or was it Like photoshopped or something like that Cuz people are very good at that these
Days especially with AI being out I man Remember what it used to be remember how Bad it used to look yeah before you can Clearly tell that somebody worked on it In Photoshop now it's just like is it AI Or is it Alan iveron like it's always Something with you bro but no so for me I still like the fours over the ones but I feel like the ones will do good and Sell out because we are at a point in The culture which had always been to a Certain extent where your namesake is Everything yeah and I feel like he's Built himself enough from just all the Adventures that he's been on on the bike To make the name for himself and then Venturing out into other spaces to the Point where he dropped something we Consume it because it looks good and the Story behind it is usually pretty Awesome and it's him and you know we Support people that we resonate with you Feel me that's a fact so what is it the University uh Jones that dropped is like A red and like a oh yeah yeah yeah yeah Yeah the ones that are sitting right now Foot Locker yeah I've seen those and how University there we go how the Howard Universities like I look at a shoe like That and it has a mini swoosh cuz I know You spoke about the mini swoosh but We're also at a time in a culture where Community wise and just living people Don't have as much money as they would
Like to have so people have to be more Cautious of what they buy then you look At the market is saturated with shoes so You got to kind of be selective in Buying unless you want to again spend Thousands of dollars trying to keep up Every week with all the drops you look At that shoe from him it's super clean It has the mini swoosh and it's also a Singular tone as far as like the uh Toolbox the eyelid area the hill cup Versus some of the other ones that did Sit like the Howard has the red then it Transitions Into the Blue so it's it's Easy to wear because it's red and blue But it's not like a singular color like You would have let's say Chicago where Yes the swoosh is a different color but Other than that it's just red toolbox White you I mean like that saying so I Really mess with it I think the fours Are better but that's kind of a bias From me because I love the Air Jordan Four I will say I love the little gum Hit on the undo of the for yeah yeah Yeah wait is it the out soole or the Midsole I'm trying to remember if I'm Remember correctly I think it's like the Middle part on the uh yeah like the air Unit like around that time around that Area yeah so it's just like it's just Like a vintage off white that treatment That everyone's been doing kind of just Like how the reimagined 3es yeah the
White cement right it's not like white Like this but it's actually like I'm Excited to see what the quality is like It'd be dope if they made it a pack oh I Would love to see a pack with Nigel and The packaging that comes along with it Because as you mentioned before all of These brands are really ahead of the Game when it comes to promotion and how They integrate the community with these Drops now everyone's really paying Attention that Community is key to Resonating with your consumers it is and It's a beautiful thing to see Nigel and How he integrates himself with his not Only the bike life but just sneaker Heads in general y so I could definitely See Jordan brand making that a pack and While it will be expensive as hell I can See it being a pack with really good Packaging I mean bro he gave away a a Limited edition bike air bike oh R yeah That was insane I wish I could have got That as like a display I mean we tried To we we definitely did try tried to That did not work out um yeah I would Love to see a pack in my opinion I think That would be a beautiful Twist on Something we haven't seen in a while Right like okay cool A6 had the the Marvel but there was only one set out of That pack uh like sneaker collection That was a pack but we haven't really Seen a pack in the sneaker head
Community in a while yeah I want was the Last pack at least on the Nike Jordan Side was that the uh the Airship Jordan One yeah the Airship Jordan one I'd say Correct us if we're wrong hop in the Comments and let us know what was the Last pack you remember as a sneaker head You could be old like Rome new like the Gen Z's like let us know what pack you Remember and what was your favorite pack Coming up as a sneaker head because There's so many out there that like Really resonate with the culture I think We talked about it last episode where we Were like it would be dope if they would Actually retro the countdown pack the Countdown pack yes would be insane but From a business standpoint like shoes Aren't selling as they once were right So I can see them looking at that as a Risk because of the price point they Would have to charge but at the same Point making it a pack you're forced to Get two even if you want one but that May turn people off like it's it's a It's a double-edged sword especially now Like how much how much would you say That Nigel pack would cost a four the Four and a one low yeah four and one low But one lows are cheap retail wise 160 No I think they're cheaper than that I Don't know 140 probably 140 Highs are 170 I believe high are 175 right now and If it's a 85 cut then that's 225 225

A eye opener for me to see a lot of Different models that I'm like oh wait Like I never even seen this model or Heard about it but some of it looked Good some of it not so much but you know I voted accordingly and that was just uh Push in the direction of like hm like What's next or what can be next from People so yeah I don't think I really Have anything specific besides obviously I'm looking forward to the undefeated Fors but that's pretty much it I feel Like that's already a early Contender For sneaker of the year it's my sneaker Of the year I don't care what anyone Says I feel that someone someone uh Recently spoke about how like a Grail Like that should not be a contender for Sneaker of the year because like it's Already cemented in history kind of Situation so you should give Limelight To like the new guys and like kind of How like the AE one sneaker the no okay We'll leave it at that but you spoke About collaborations yes and this is Something I really want to dive into now And in the new year I recently heard a Podcast uh sneaky leak pod shout out to The homies shout out to the homies they Talked about how they're kind of Exhausted with collaborations right and How it's getting to the point where like We're losing a lack of innovation Through these collaborations and there's
A there's a heavy Tipping Point between Collaboration and Innovation and what We're getting versus what the Collaboration actually is okay right so How do you you feel about collaboration Culture let's call it that and do you Feel like it's been Oversaturated I want to say it's hit or Miss so it's to the point where Sometimes I feel like there's Collaborations just for the sake of Saying oh look we did something and then There's the flip side where we're Actually getting something unique and Thought out so where do you see collab Culture going in the year 2025 how do You feel about collaborations right now Based on the transition from last year And what I saw and what I would hope to See now is like more intentional collabs And as a person that does customs here And there I would like to see more People that's Community involved have an Opportunity to be able to design for a Nike or A6 or a sakon or Sone however You say it and stuff like that it's just What you got against Adidas bro Nothing they got like a dope model or One but I'm just speaking on brands that Like usually do like a lot of collabs Right with people not necessarily Businesses because you know like I think Reebok does a lot of collabs like Packer And stuff like that like not brand
Related but like more the individual Person and like Community like you have The the J tips out there you obviously Have like the ronies it's dope to see That but you look at them too and when I Think of community nothing against Ronnie of course but I think of J tips Right of where he started where he is Now and how he is a person from the Community that worked his ass off to get An opportunity and he's crushing it and I feel like we see things from Brands Like Nike who puts out statements of Being Innovative and not having certain Things and it's like well that's the People you have on payroll tap into the Community that gets you all this money And keeps you afloat to have the Opportunities to you know get into the Design field Rather it's one shoe whether it's a Collection whatever the case may be Because that will make me want to go Support you know like let's say you get An opportunity you have a support system And there going to be people that's like Yo I don't know dude but I can now see Him on social media they highlighted him As a person I know what he does and he's Just like me yep and he has an Opportunity yo I'm going go mess with That especially if it's dope you know What I mean and then of course there are People that's a part of the culture that
Don't really stoop down to our level not In a negative way but as far as far as Like they're a celebrity and or whether It's a list b list whatever the case may Be like yti that had his opportunity I Was going to talk about that right he's A dope person that was afforded an Opportunity because of who he is but Would people say that he earned it or Would he say because it's who he is and I would opt to say that he earned it Because there's plenty of celebrities That's bigger than him don't have this Opportunity right you know I mean so Shout out to Nike for reaching out and Looking at certain things but I would Love to see them make things more Personal to give opportunities to the People that keep them relevant in Certain spaces speaking of yachi and his Concrete boys Air Force One that's what It's called yeah right so if you're a Sneaker head and you're part of the Culture you're very much aware to the Back and forth that went on during Complex con with beima and yachi right So it was highlighted around the lack of Innovation on the concrete boys Air Force One right what's your take on that Parent itself and what that has to do With the sneaker culture and what that Does to this collaboration culture right Cuz I have some things to say about it But I want to get your take and we can
Go back and forth on it at first when I Saw the Air Force One I looked at it as Being too simplistic but then I had to Actually think about it and look at like Other pairs that have been Collaborations and it's just kind of Like did he do anything like crazy no Right but I mean I have on the Black Phantom travises is this not just the Jordan one low with the swoosh backwards You know right and like yeah like There's a different there's different Branding on the hill but he had the Concrete boys logo on the uh Hill Counter the concrete boys text where the Night air usually is and was it like a Crazy colorway or like premium materials Like no but that's personal to him yeah And I know he was pointing that out when You know they had the apology from bimma And him like going back and forth with Each other and he touched based on that Like yo talking about somebody that just Got an opportunity that I've been Waiting for all my life and you know This is what I did and you start Realizing like everything doesn't have To have a crazy story y it doesn't have To be you know how amama maner takes That time and detail into like you know All the branding on the sock liner and How like the fives had the amam on year Logo on The netting instead of the Regular netting and the box is crazy and
It's like yeah that's cool but I feel Like you used the word earlier like Spoiled yeah we've been spoiled as a Community with overthe Toop Collaboration and it's fine no I love Them exactly exact it's a it's a space For everything and I feel like we as the Culture on looking to these things when They pop up we should be able to look at It and appreciate it for what it is not What we want it to be exactly first off Kudos to beima and yachty for squashing That little beast yes that's what men do That's what men do and that's what we Need more of in this culture not just This culture but life in general right Right you acknowledge when things went South because in the moment sometimes Things can't be controlled right Especially in yachi situation he was on Stage fueled by emotion and anger and he Was really just defending what he took His whole life to create like how many People can say they got a collaboration With Nike right and he spoke on it Himself saying like not every shoe has To be a banger right and like you said We as the consumers have to take a step Back and not be so quick to critique a Shoe the moment it gets teased the Moment it gets leaked without proper Insight to the story behind the shoe and That doesn't mean that there has to be a Story with every shoe y could just been
