The Mizuno Neo Vista and Hoka Mach X2 are both impressive plated daily trainers with fun rides and enough versatility to handle a wide range of runs. The Hoka Mach X2 leans a bit more towards faster runs, while the Mizuno Neo Vista excels for long easy efforts, but both are worth considering for your shoe rotation. Nick runs throughs the pros and cons of each shoe in this video to help you pick between them.

Hello and welcome to run testers my name Is Nick and in this video I'm going to Be comparing the Hoka MAAC X2 and the Mauno Neo [Music] Vista so Neo Vista and the Mac X2 are Two new super trainers launched in 2024 They are both excellent shoes that I Really like but I probably would use Them for slightly different purposes as We'll go on to in the review the Neo Vista is the cheapest shoe of the pair Is £150 in the UK $180 in the US whereas The Mac X2 is $190 in the US and £ 170 In the UK they're similar in weight the Mac X2 was 255 G or 9 oz in a uk9 and The Neo Vista is 259 G or 9.1 o in a UK 8.5 although they both us 9.5 so the Weight is pretty comparable you have a 5 Mm drop on the Mac X2 with a stack Height of 44 mm at the heel 39 at the Foot in the men's shoe and 42 at the Heel 37 at the 4 foot in the women's Whereas Neo Vista has an 8 mm drop and a Stack height of 44.5 mm at the heel 36.5 At the 4ot looking at the design of the Two shoes you got a dual density midell Setup with the Hoka ma X2 the top layer Is hok's pea foam the the best foam in Their range the bouncy staff used on Racers like the rocket and the Sea Yellow the bottom layer is a super Critical Eva so youve got that dual Density effect with the softer bouncy
Layer on top and between those layers is A pack plate that's winged at the 4 foot To add some more stability at that part Of the shoe it's not a full carbon plate Neither of these shoes have carbon Plates with Mauna using a nylon plate The idea being that it's a little bit Less stiff and more flexible for your Daily training got a rocker geometry Cutouts on the shoe and then a very Lightweight woven upper with minimal Padding around the heel collar and not a Lot of structure at the back there Either there's not really a big heel Counter on this shoe you got a rubber Outside with pretty sparing coverage With the aim of reducing the weight Pretty good coverage on the 4 foot there A little bit of fraying on the peber Midsole there really know what that's About but no real problems with Durability on the actual outsole of the Shoe phone used in the Muno neov Vista Is mizuno's NZ NXT phone which is an EVA Foam but a very soft and bouncy foam all Around you've got a nylon wave plate Running through that which you can see Through the substantial cutout on the Bottom of the shoe which is done to Reduce weight but does create a big hole That you can catch stones in a little Bit I have found got a smooth speed Assist rocker on the shoe both these are Rocket shoes this is a slightly less
Aggressive rocker than you'll find on Mauno shoes like the mauno wave Rebellion Pro Racing shoe or the wave Rebellion flash fast training shoe You've got a booty knit upper with an Integrated tongue comes up quite high at The back of the shoe there there's not Much of a heal counter at all on the Mauno either very similar to the hoker In that regard there's not much Structure at the back of the shoe there Then you have a rubber on the outside That does cover all of the outside that Will come into contact with the ground With obviously nothing on the big cutout You have on the bottom of the shoe [Music] There so it comes to the fit of the two Shoes I've got different sizes here in Terms of their UK sizing but the same Size in the US so the hoker is a uk9 and Us 9.5 the mauno is a UK 8.5 and a US 9.5 I was Keen to make sure I didn't Have a shoe that was too big with the Mauno because it's got this booty style Upper and actually it fits me really Well in what would be half a size down In my UK size but generally I'm a us99.5 Or a US 10 so both shoes are at the Smaller end of the sizes I use but they Do fit me well I got quite a Dar in fit With both shoes they're not too short Though or cramped in the toe box I have Quite a narrow foot and that means I
Tend to get on with hookah shoes where Some people struggle with them although There is a color of the Mac X2 available In a wider version I'd say neither shoe Has an upper I absolutely adore but I've Got on completely fine with both of These uppers so youve got this booty Style upper on the mauno which it does Feel a little bit oppressive and hot at Times I would find like it makes the Shoe feel less quick than it is hav't Any problems with rubbing or anything Like that and it has held the foot Securely for me on faster runs but it's Just a lot of material to have around The foot which I'm not always a huge fan Of hoker goes the other way and you have A very lightweight breathable upper here Which you I do like but I think it's one That can cause some problems at the back Of the shoe because the heel design Isn't perfect not only rubbing myself I Did heal lock the shoe but haven't had Any substantial problems and I quite Like the upper because it is lightweight And it hasn't caused any problem there's A fox running through my garden you keep Running um yeah like I said the upper is Quite lightweight it hasn't caused me Any problems so I like it but you'd have To look out for the heel design on the Hoker and it makes it feel quite racy Almost the opposite feeling you have With the Mauna where the upper makes
What is quite a fast shoe and bouny shoe Feel much more daily trainer whereas With the hoker what is a good allrounder Feels quite racy because of the thin Upper and the lack of padding around the Back overall the sizing can be a bit Tricky with these I say with the hoker Stick to your normal size that's what I Found has being fine with the shoe with The Muno this is half a size smaller Than they use in the Muno wave Rebellion Pro if that's any indication at all I Think that shoe can run a little bit Small though so probably the best thing To do is just stick to your normal size With these shoes perhap people have used Either shoe could dive into the comments And also say what they think about the Sizing to add some extra help on that [Music] Front onto the run test there and these Are two great shoes that I have really Enjoyed running in this year I think in General 2024 has been a fantastic year For very versatile and fun trainers that You can use that have great Foams plates And other kinds of stuff in them that Just make everyday training a little bit More enjoyable and these are certainly Two shoes that do that the ne Vista is An all new shoe and it really did Surprise me and how much I liked it it's One that just really elevates the Experience of your daily training like
There is enough bounce back there that Even though it is quite a soft foam You're not sinking in too much and Getting lost in that foam and the plate Obviously helps with that as well it's Got the rocker as well you do just tick Along very nicely in the shoe whilst Enjoying all that softness and the Bounce Under Foot the times I've most Enjoyed using the shoe have definitely Been on long runs and easy runs but I Have gone down the track in the shoe and You know has got some Pace like doesn't Feel like a particularly fast shoe but You can certainly run faster than the Vista and it has you the feeling of a Shoe that can do a little bit of Everything but it feels probably more at The relaxed comfortable daily end of Super trainers one that you just use for Kind of General training and enjoyable Easy runs whereas the macx 2 I think has That faster feel and and in contrast to The macx original it definitely has the Pace for your trap workouts hard Workouts that kind of thing then I feel Like it has the versatility to do those Easy runs as well cuz it has quite a Pleasant ride aside from the upper which Can feel a little bit lightweight and Racy I think the shoe underfoot feels Good at relax Paces as well it's a Bouncy design as well I don't think the Mac X2 is quite as bouncy as the Muno
But it's got a faster transition a more Direct ride and a faster feel to the toe Off I would say been down the track in The shoe done hard progression runs did A pretty speedy 10 Mile in it today and It just always responds when you're Running at PACE and then it has got that Kind of lower gear as well you can go Easy in the shoe and while it does feel Like it wants to move a bit faster at Times you can run easily quite Comfortably I find I did a short run in Both shes at the same time and emphasize A different is you have got that extra Softness and squish underfoot with the Mauno lots of Bounce lots of fun very Almost a relaxed feeling ride whereas The Mac does feel that little bit go Faster pushes you onto your toes a bit More and you get a bit more kind of Bounced out of the 4 foot in a way that Does feel like it's built for fast Running but again like I say you can Ease back run slowly in the Mac you can Run fast in the Muno but there're Definitely different strengths to these Shoes even if they are both very Versatile options I [Music] Think verdict is that these are two very Good and very versatile shoes I would Say there's lots of overlap between them They certainly are shoes that can handle A lot of your daily training and even
Look at as kind of a racing option Particularly the Mac X2 but I'd say the Muno strength is probably those long Easy runs relaxed daily training whereas Whereas a macx 2 is stronger when it Comes to your fast stuff like your track Workouts your general workouts Tempo Runs that kind of thing it has a bit More response and it feels a bit quicker For those and would be a good fast long Run shoe as well so which you go for Might then depend on what you're looking To add to your rotation i' would say There's probably a little bit too much Overlap to add both but you could have Quite a fun two sheet rotation if you're Going to spend a lot of money and have That softer springier amuno for your Easy runs then the more dialed in Speedy Mac for your fast ones but I would Probably say probably picking between These two shoes to fill out what you Want in your rotation a little bit more If you're looking for a shoe more to Hoover up a lot of mileage at easy Paces Neo Vista does that a bit better as you Looking for a fast trainer that can do Some easy miles but is going to be best Used for those fast miles it's probably The macx 2 you're going to go and get One shoe just to do everything in I Personally would lean towards the Mac X2 Myself obviously that would require you To get on with the upper but I haven't
Any real problems with that ran it again Today and it didn't hurt me if you can Find a way to make the upper work the Max2 is a great shoe to use for Everything and it has the extra Versatility for fast stuff and even Racing where I wouldn't really be Keen To use mauno for too much speed work or Look at it as a racing shoe myself Muno Is a bit cheaper than the Mac X2 Especially in the UK and we're intering To see what happens with sales cuz Sometimes mauno is very generous with Its sales whereas hoko is not really Known for that so much so if you can get A really good deal on the mauno then Yeah I'd certainly not hesitate to buy The shoe because I do think it is a Great shoe for doing a lot of Marin in a Fun way and the upper while not my Favorite is less risky than the one on The macx I think I've not really heard Any reports of people really struggling With the upper on the mauno it's pretty Comfortable whereas the macx 2 could Bite into your heel a little bit Although like I say hasn't been a Problem for me overall I prefer the Mac X2 myself just because I really love This shoe I like doing easy stuff in it And I really like doing fast runs in Ituno though is a great shoe for sure if You are looking for that softer Feeling Just for relaxed runs it does that a
Little bit better than the [Music] Mac all right that's a comparison of the Mac X2 and the mauno neov Vista let us Know what you think in the comments Below please do like and subscribe ring The little bell and we'll see you next Time
