Hey people welcome to the Run testers And to a launch I'm pretty excited about We've had the new hokus speed goat 6 in For testing now the speed goat has been One of my favorite trail shoes through a Number of generations now I like the Balance of the higher protective stack Stability secure fit and the good grip It all adds up to a wonderfully Versatile Trail shoe with good cruising Capacity on a wide variety of different Types of Trail terrain now some Runners I think rais doubts about the overall Durability of the speed go looking at How the upper flexed and the mid so Performed over longer miles but that's Something I didn't have any issues with And it's something Oka though has aimed To improve I think in the new updates Now I've logged 15 miles so far in this Shoe across two runs I'm going to Reserve judgment on the longevity until I've beaten it up some more for the full Review but before we do that let's get Into my early impressions of the update To one of hok's most popular trail shoes Here's the Hoka speed goat 6 first Run some quick details and starting with The Soul stack in the speed goat six Stack height comes in at 40 Ms in the Hill 35 m in the 4T for a 5 mil drop That's in the men's in the women's it's 3835 also for a 5 mil drop it weighs in Slightly lighter than the speed goat 5

At 10 oz or 283 G in my UK men's 8 and A2 the speed goat 5 comparison was 10.3 O or 291 G on price the speed goat 6 Will set you back £40 or $155 in the US Now for a quick shoe whip round and a Look at what's new well the speed go 6 Looks very much like the speed goat 5 And at first glance it might not seem Like much has changed but there are some Important updates here mainly to the Upper and to the mids soole these are Kind of aimed to fix as I said some of Those grumbles that some people maybe Had largely on durability with the Speedo 5 and let's look at the Mido First we've still got a compression Molded Eva midsole but it is a new foam Formula here that shoots for being Lighter and more durable holding its Resiliency over the long term some Runners felt like the ride dropped off To soon in the speed goat 5 the hope is That this new midsole will deliver that Same ride just over the long Hall up top You've got a new engineered woven Material upper that's also lighter and Once again it aims to be a bit more hard Wearing I think one of the things that People found was the others sort of Uppers in the speed go 5 flexed a little Bit there are some additional internal Supports and a kind of cage of sort of Tapes across the midfoot section in here

That create a more locked in feel you've Also got gusseted tongues you've got a Dynamic Vamp here which you saw on the Speed goat 5 that's a more flexible Section in the middle that offers some Additional stretch and flexes slightly Bigger on this than in the speed goat 5 It's also made from a different material To that shoe there's a bit more also of A rigid heel clip here on the speed goat 6 now if you flip them over you've still Got the vibr mega rip out soole that Works really well you got 5 mil Multi-directional lugs you've got about The same quantity of lugs overall versus The speed goat 5 but there's a new lug Pattern here and a slightly shallower Channel in the middle that all to hold Less Mud quick word on fit then and hoker Shoes tend to fit snug and the speed Goat 6 is really no different this is a Hugging fit there's not that much room In the toebox it's sort of Fairly narrow I find that fine for shorter runs on Flatter Trails but it also limits the Movement in the shoe you know you keep Sort of stay you're well held on the Base basically you avoid sort of sliding Off that midsole with good secure Midfoot lock down but if you're like a Room your fit or you're planning to run Longer long Ultra hours in the shoes it Probably pay to consider moving half a

Size up where you might have a bit more Room for your feet to expand you might Avoid having any bashing up against the Toe box but if you like it snug and Tight and locked in then you're going to Get that with the speed go six like you Did the five Now I logged 10 miles for my first Outing in the speed goat 6 I took them On a road to trail run with a few miles On the tat to and from the trail plus a Good section of hard packed sunbaked River Trail that was very very dry very Flat that all adds up to sort of less Technical more runable Trail I've tested This shoe for I mix up the paces from my Plooding ultra Pace to a faster Trail Marathon pace at about sub seven minute Miles now first up the stepping comfort Of the speed go was good with a familiar Feeling if if you've run in the speed Goats before you're going to get a very Similar feeling here these are close Fitting hookah hugging fit shoes Initially can feel a little bit narrow And a bit tight particular if you've got Wider feet or you've got a higher InStep Like I have but if you've run in hoker Before you will know this feeling but Overall I found it easy to get them Sitting comfortably on the foot good Disappearing feel and I ran in Comfort Right from the start again I would say This feels pretty much the same to me as

I'd got with the speed goat 5 not too Much has changed now I appreciate the Small extra padding detail though on the Tongues if you're planning long Haw Ultras that can help take the edge off That lace lock down if you're trying to Get a bit more extra sort of tight fit And that's just a smidge of extra Comfort on the run I found it easy to Settle into the shoe fresh out the box I Immediately recognize that speed go ride Which is protective but not over Cushioned it's medium to firm but nicely Balanced with good reliable wide Platform that I find stable and offers Just enough ground contact and control On the road sections I could feel the Grip from the 5 mil lugs but it wasn't Too sticky and the new goat handles Tarmac as well as the previous Generations for that kind of road to Trail sections it still gets thumbs up From me that's thanks to the response You get from the midsole stack here on The trail in those harder conditions Where I look for something a bit more Forgiving but you don't want something That's too squidgy and loose underfoot It delivers on that front too as well The new formula Pham has swapped some of The softness for a bit more response but It's still softer I think than something Like shoots like the innovate Trail fly Maybe not as soft as you'd go for

Something like an ASX gel TR Buco 12 Though so essentially striding a kind of Happy middle ground I found it nicely Responsive with all the reliability in The Landings Transitions and toe offs That I've enjoyed from previous speed Goats it's a shoe that you know where You're at with it performed well across My range of Paces happily eating the Trail at slower heavier clip where I'm Landing a bit more clumpy if you want to Call it that but delivering control and Response when I moved up to the faster Trail Pace as well I found I could plot Or power in the speed goat six quite Happily now the upper changes I think They also work there's a bit more Structure to The Weave that feels a bit More supportive obviously got those Tapes that help with that but I also Suggest it will wear better than the Last shoes I'll take the small weight Savings as well though I didn't really Notice them that much versus the speed Goat 5 quick first run Impressions then well For me the speed goat has always been a Happy Trail Workhorse a versatile Trail Shoe that balances protection stability Lightness and control with enough Precision to take on the technical stuff But enough cushion to eat up a mix of Road and Trail over the long Hall and a Good response for when things get hard

Packed and more runnable it's a shoe I'd Happily choose to go and get lost in the New Forest here in the UK for runs up to 6 hours that kind of thing you know it's Just easy to running but now you always Worry when Brands Tinker with good shoes That they might change them and make Them than worse but so far I think the Speed goat 6 updates work they stay true To the speed goat's DNA and for my early Miles I'd say it still delivers exactly What I love about this shoe with a Little weight saving thrown in uppers That should hold shape longer though fit A little closer and a ride it's slightly Less plush and cushioned bit more Responsive and a grip that I would say That's on par with the speed goat 5 the Speed goat though now has stiffer Competition out there and there are Other great options that deliver similar Ride including I'd say the meral agility Peak five is one to go and look at That's very very similar and also a Really good shoe there's also a big Question rolling around in my brain as To whether or not you might just be Better off buying the speed goat 5 when It comes out on a deal but we'll answer That question in the review we've done More testing but for my early miles in The speed goat 6 I think speed goat fans And Trail Runners who might only want One off-road shoe are going to like this

The speed go 6 still feels like it's got That doit all prowess that we've really Grown to love in this shoe so there you Have it that's my first run look at the New Hoka speed goat 6 I hope you found It useful if you're not subscribed Already make sure you do and ring the Bell to hear when the full review lands Plus we'll have a load of head-to heads As well up against other shoes hit us up In the comments if there's something you Want us to answer in the main review We'll get to that as well if you're Looking for a versatile Trail shoe I'm Popping a video up now that you should Definitely watch otherwise thank you Very much for stopping by as ever it's Much appreciated we hope to see you Again soon on the channel and in the Meantime happy running people
