On today’s episode of Shoe Care Academy, Vick Almighty tackles the ultimate cleaning challenge with a trashed pair of Suede Air Jordan 4’s. Our production team went all out, covering these kicks in mud to give Vick a real test of his cleaning prowess.
Vick begins by removing the surface mud with a dry brush, ensuring that it does not to push the dirt deeper into the suede. He’s ready to start the detailed cleaning process after using an air compressor to blow off any remaining debris. First, he takes a lint shaver to the sock liner, prepping the shoe for a thorough clean.
When it comes to cleaning suede, a delicate brush is essential. Vick carefully cleans the entire sneaker, avoiding spot cleaning to prevent water marks. Once the suede is spotless, he shifts his focus to the plastic parts, using a medium brush for a precise clean. Fortunately, the dark suede didn’t bleed during the process.
Vick uses a stiff bristle brush to remove all dirt and grime for the outsoles. Next, he cleans the laces while the shoe dries. Once dry, Vick resets the nap of the suede with a brass brush, an essential step in suede care that fixes the texture but can fade the color slightly. To restore the rich color, he applies our Mink Oil with a Horse Hair brush, bringing the suede back to life.
The final step is lacing up the shoes, revealing a transformation that’s nothing short of night and day. Best of all, this entire cleaning process took just 15 minutes and can easily be done at home with Reshoevn8r products.
