Welcome to the latest episode of Shoe Care Academy with a quick, simple ASMR walk-through on how to clean your mesh sneakers.
We have an absolutely cooked pair of Air Max 1s that need some TLC. Our Signature Kit and Laundry pods will get the job done.
To start, we’ll grab our dry rack and bowl combination and add water. Then, grab all three of our brushes before we get into the cleaning. Once your brushes are set up, squirt some of our all-natural solution into the bowl.
Adjust your shoe trees and insert them into the shoes to ensure that they keep their form during the cleaning. And don’t forget your towel!
For the first part of this cleaning, we’ll use the soft bristle brush. With the Soft Brush, we’ll work the upper in all directions, especially on the mesh panels and tongue. After the upper has been worked on, take the shoe trees and insole out and clean them thoroughly. Dry them off with the microfiber towel.
Still using the Soft BRush, work on the shoe’s lining and grab the towel to dry it off. Then, insert the cleaned insoles and your shoe tree.
Now, it’s time for the Medium Bristle Brush to restore the mesh panels and midsole to pearly white. The Medium Bristle Brush also worked great for the nubuck panel on the Air Max 1, so don’t be afraid.
It’s time to tackle the outsoles with the Stiff Bristle Brush. Be sure to pat dry the outsoles with the towel as well. We also suggest using a towel to dry the mesh panels by applying some pressure.
Now, dip your laces into the solution and soak them before placing them on your cleaning mat. With the Soft Bristle Brush, go over the laces to really clean them. Throw them back into the solution and rub them between your hands to clean them up nicely. To dry them, pinch your towel with two fingers and run the laces in between.
Although they’re a lot cleaner, we want them to look as good as new, so it’s time to bring in our patented Sneaker Laundry bag, which can fit both your sneakers and laces.
Throw them in the washer along with our Sneaker Laundry pods and wash them on cold. After they’re washed, take them out and lace them up to air dry.
