Hey people welcome to The Run Testers. In this video we’re looking at another shoe from the cut-price Decathlon Kiprun stables. This time we’re talking about the Kiprun KD900.2, the second gen budget-friendly plate-free trainer that Kiprun says is designed for long, intensive training sessions – your tempos and your fartleks. It riffs off the KD900X race shoe with a bigger stack of the same midsole and it’s here to challenge the best daily trainers from the pricier brands. But can it? Let’s get into it in our Kiprun KD900.2 review.

Hey people welcome to the Run tested in This video we're looking at another shoe From the cut price The cathon kiprun Stables this time we're talking about The kiprun kd900 second generation it's The second gen budget friendly plate Free training that kiprun says is Designed for long intensive training Sessions your tempos and your fart legs It riffs off the 900x raay shoe with the Same midsole foam just more of it and It's here to challenge the daily Trainers from the bigger and pricier Brands but can it well let's get into it In our kiprun kd900 point2 review Let's give you the key details first Then and the kiun kd900 point2 stack Height sits at 38 1/2 Ms in the heel 30 And A2 Ms in the 4T for an 8 mil drop it Weighs an 8.6 o or 242 G in my UK men's Size 8 1/2 that's a US 9 1/2 on price it Comes in at $119.99 in the UK it's not Available in the US though Next up a quick shoe whip round starting With the mid salt and the kd900 point2 Is inspired by kit Run's carbon plated Marathon rator shoe the kd900 xld which Is behind me here we've got a review of That up on the channel if you're Interested it uses the same Blended Eva And super critical PX vone plus Pham I Believe the split is 90% Eva and 10% Packs but this shoe comes with a bigger Stack across the shoe to increase the
Cushioning and the energy return there's No carbon plate here and the donut heel That was on the first gen has been Swapped for a more traditional sort of Fast chew setup up top everything is Pretty strip back and racy you've got Lightweight race style knit mesh uppers That are really breathable with a good Amount of flex it's all light and Airy There's a minimal heel package here just These two textured pillows on the inside For heel hold along with a couple of External plastic Clips to add some Support the flat wrapping gusted tongues Offer good coverage across the foot and Stay put well enough with thickness that Prevents lace pinch there a pretty Standard and robust lacing setup as well That's easy to get locked in if you flip Them over and you've got a decent Covering a protective outsole rubber in All the key areas though there's notably Less protection than we saw on the first Gen shoe and now you get the kind of Outsole setup that you tend to find on Race Shoes so in testing I ran in a UK 8 1/2 Or a US 9 and 1/2 which would be my Regular running shoe size in the kit Run Shoes and overall I find the fit is Pretty good pretty reliable I know some People have said they come up a bit long In the tone you can see there is like More thumbs width really there into the
Toes and they're quite kind of narrow Generally they're not as tight and kind Of cramped as a kind of hooker shoe like You'd find with a Mac X2 I find they Just hold with just about the right kind Of security here into the toe Knuckles And across the midfoot no problem Getting good lace lock down here pretty Standard lacing nice kind of nice lock Down you got there I really quite like The tongues there's you know they're Fairly thick but they do Wrap nicely Across but without kind of having any Irritation up here on on to the top of The foot they just keep everything Nicely in place uh there's a good amount Of wiggle room into the toebox I find They're nice and Airy to feel Overall I think maybe you could have Something a little more compact I Wouldn't go half a size down in these Shoes though to to drop that length I I Think everything else might become a Little bit too cramped now if you go Back into the heel colars I got good Hold from the heels even with these just Two sort of minimal heel pads I know Nick had some problems with those kind Of giving his Achilles some grief I Didn't experience any of that all I got Was kind of good security I didn't get Any of the cutting in that I got from The KD 900 xray shoe that I had here in That shoe when I tested over the
Marathon distance and overall I think The fit was solid and I would recommend Going true to [Music] Size so I didn't run in the first gen Kd900 but I have tested the kd900 X over The Marathon distance I'm really Intrigued by the cathlon or kit Run's Attempts to offer cut price performance Now the KD 00 X back there off was a Pretty good ride but unfortunately it Cut me on my Marathon test so when I Took the kd900 2 out of the box and saw A similar heel color setup had some Reservations despite the fact that KD 9002 certainly looks the pot now I've Not pushed the kd900 point2 to the same Distances in testing I've covered around 30 mil the longest run being 7 miles or An hour on feet I've mixed up the paces Though with slow and steady and faster Miles and some good Tempo efforts and so Far the Comfort has been good actually There's no signs of of unwanted rubbing Or blistering from this heel package They feel light on the foot in the same Ballpark Weight Wise as a socking Endorphin speed for a Hoka Mac X2 Lighter than shoes like the ASX super Blast 2 now I love a shoe that feels Light and agile and these tick that box For me I still don't find the uppers the Most comfortable when compared to other Shoes they're definitely good when you
Consider the price but this is one area Where I think they could marginally Improve there's something a bit plastic About the whole kind of thing and things Feel a little less welcoming than you Might get from the more premium uppers On Rival shoes now that wouldn't stop me Buying the kd900 point2 but I do notice It now when you get to the ride that's Where this shoe surprises impresses kind Of delights from the very first mile I Got a feeling of fun energy and urgency From the Mido for a non-plated shoe There's a good amount of energy coming Back and a good Lively ride more so when You're moving with intent Landing more For foot on runs where I went out Thinking I'd move slow I found myself Pushing naturally faster with that Pack's midsole providing a lot of the Encouragement the midsole ride is a bit Two-faced when you're Landing further up The shoe it rides a little firmer than Shoes like the super Blast 2 or the new Balanced SC Trainer V3 with less Compression and more immediate feedback That creates a more Road connected field And you might expect from a big stacked Shoe like this but I really love that it Really floats my boat when you can feel Instant energy coming back from a shoe With cushion that just takes the edge Off the impact but leaves you feeling The road underf foot however there were
Some occasions when I was moving slower And Landing more midfoot where I felt The middle of the shoe ran soft and a Bit more sinky there's quite a lot of Flex in this midsection and that just Puts some increased Demand on your Arches it sort of makes the thing feel a Little bit disconnected and that might Limit how long you want to run in the Kd900 second gen but at my Tempo paces And faster up to an hour on feet this Wasn't a problem again when I was Landing mid to four foot I got a Stiffness in the foref foot that adds Some spring into the toe offs boost that Energetic ride feeling I did wonder if a Plate would add some extra control and Smooth out some of the Transitions verdict then and I really Enjoyed this shoe it's the best Ki run Shoe I've had my feet in today and it Signals some impressive progress in Innovation I think from the Ki run team To bring a shoe with this capability and Quality at the price I think is really Worthy of Praise it's not perfect and You are sucking up some shortcomings for The cheaper price tag the uppers could Be better the mid sole midsection Sometimes drop and creates a little Disconnect in the ride at slower Paces It can feel a little harsh at times some Runners may want softer foam for easier Miles but for the price you're getting a
Lot of performance here and if you're Looking for a fun energetic shoe that Offers plenty of Versatility and will do A cracking job of covering fast sessions And steady tempo efforts all on a low Budget I don't think those niggles are That problematic on balance I've had a Lot of fun bounding around London in the Ki run kd900 second gen and it's coped Admirably with most of the mileage I've Thrown it way there is good versatility Here I can run slow in this shoe in Relative Comfort but I would likely Choose it for faster runs up to the Half Marathon distance it maybe doesn't offer The comfort and consistency of an ax Super Blast 2 or an SZ trainer V3 or an Endorphin speed 4 for those longer miles Though I still think I might choose it Over the kd900 X for racing a marathon Just based on the improved heel package The other thing to consider here is that Even though the price is impressively Low you can pick up capable Alternatives When you get them on good deals and Shoes like the p velocity Nitro 3 or the Added as Boston 12 even an as6 Nova Blast 4 can all be found around the same Price in delivering the performance and Versatility that probably Rivals the kip [Music] Run so there you have it that's be my Review of the kiprun kd900 point2 I hope You found it enlightening hit the like
