The Kiprun KS900.2 is a max-cushioned shoe that comes in a bit cheaper than most alternatives, though it’s by no means a budget shoe. Nick has been testing the shoe out during his marathon training to see if it’s worth adding to your rotation.

Hello and welcome TOS my name's Nick and This is our full review of the Kyon KS 900. 2 shoe from the [Music] Caston the ks 900. 2 is a new addition To the Ki run range of running shoes From the cathlon it sits above I would Say the ks 900 light which was more of a Daily trainer the ks 9002 is a Max Cushion shoe built really for those easy Cruising miles and to give Kian a shoe That sits in this Max cushion category That is so popular these days with most Brands now having a really cushion shoe In their lineup it costs £1 1220 in UK Or €40 in the EU no sign of us Availability as yet it weighs at 314 G Or 11 oz and it has a 6 mm drop with a Stack heite of 39 mm at the heel and 33 Mm at the 4ot so it's a Max cushion shoe With kiun M foam in the mids soole this Is their mattress foam and it's been Used in other shoes in the past it's Designed to be a soft protective phone But also a very durable one like kiun Has talked about their shoes lasting 1,000 kmers in the past getting a thick Slab of this phone which is not the Bounciest or most Lively material in the World but is pretty comfortable should Be nice and durable interestingly for a High stack shoe it's not the widest shoe Out there especially around the midford I think lots of these Max cushion shoes
Do tend to have very wide bases to add Stability it's not something they've Gone for here with the ks9 100.2 perhaps To try and keep the weight down you do Have side WS of foam that your foot sits Within but again they're not quite as Obvious as you get with some shoes which Really almost create a bucket seat at The back but you do have sidewalls of Foam there to add some stability the Shoe has a mesh upper with a lot of Padding on the tongue and cola to create That very comfortable and plush step in Feel you expect from a cushion shoe like This there's internal heel counter at The back of the shoe as well to add some More stability there there is some Exposed foam on the bottom of the shoe But the heel sides and forefoot of the Outsole are covered with a pretty thick Layer of rubber I think this is going to Be very durable again and it has gripped Really well for me in wet conditions no Concerns about the outso despite the Fact there always some exposed foam and In general I think there's a lot of very Durable materials used here on this shoe To make sure it stands up to a lot of [Music] Running comes the fit of the shoe I've Actually been testing a UK 9.5 which is A half size up on my normal running shoe Size here in the UK I'm also quite a Small uk9 so even though this is a US 10
Which I often wear with other brands it Has fit a bit long for me I think I've Definitely been better off sticking with My normal UK size but overall I don't Think it's a shoe that runs you know Bizarrely long I think probably going With your normal running shoe size will Be fine also got quite a sharp taper at The front of the shoe there so I Wouldn't really be Keen to say go for a Smaller size cuz you might find yourself A bit cramped in the toe box but I Didn't really have any big problems with The length being slightly long for me on The Run got a good hold around the heel And midfoot of all that padding there so Overall I would say sticking with your Normal running shoe size would be the Way to [Music] Go so I've run over 50k in the kiun ks 900. 2 uh during my marathon training of Late I've been using it as a comfortable Shoe to rack up those easy and Recovery Miles the lots of them that you have During a marathon training lock and that Is what it's designed to be a cushioned Comfortable shoe protects the legs and It does a very solid job of this there's No doubt about that like I was very Happy to pull the shoe on for a recovery Run long run just general easy runs a Mucha out in it it does protect the legs Really well it's not really a very
Rocked ride but the the drop isn't that High either so it is fairly smooth Underf foot as well and while you're not Sinking into the foam or anything like That the foam does protect the legs Pretty well dampens the impact of Road Running so yeah your legs are a bit Fresher during those high mileage weeks Like most of these Big Mac Cushing shoes It is not a versatile shoe though it is A pretty hefty shoe and while it doesn't Feel like unpleasantly heavy on the foot For those easy runs you can take over Quite nicely it certainly doesn't feel Like it's going to be a particularly Versatile shoe picked up the pace and a Couple of those runs I didn't find it Comfortable to do that in a shoe of this Size there are certainly Max cushion Shoes out there that have more Responsive midsoles a bit more punch That are more versatile and if you're Looking for a very cushion shoe to do Jobs like that it will be things like You know the saky ride 17 or Triumph 21 And with the ks9 100.2 midsole really is Geared towards that kind of easy running With both the G and the materials used In my opinion I think the Mido might Soften up a bit over time know it's the Kind of thing you expect from a phone Like this that is quite firm at the Start but is very durable you might get A little bit more out of it over time
But I think very much it's a shoe gear Towards comfort and protection over Versatility as mentioned in the design It is a fairly narrow shoe for a high Stack shoe like this and I don't really Have any stability issues and using it Even on cambered Pavements and that kind Of thing it didn't really feel very Unstable to me also despite the high Stack it doesn't feel as big as some Shoes in this area that's probably Partly because of the slightly narrower Design you have here it might mean Though that if you're someone who needs A stable neutral shoe at least or does Like to use stability shoes it's not Really the best option wonder if Kian Actually might end up extending their Line a little bit to include a version Of the shoe that is a lot wider or has Some kind of inherent stability in it Like that wide base or the fir of foam On the outside that kind of thing that Brands are doing to create these stable Neutral shoes these days it wasn't a Huge concern for me but I don't think It's going to be the most stable shoe if You do want a little bit more support on That Front So the ks 100.2 is the liveliest or most Exciting shoe out there but it is a Comfortable and protective cushion shoe That will sit well in a rotation with
Lighter faster shoes that will handle Your speed work and races works well During high mileage weeks to Hoover up Those easy miles and protect your legs And you know it can also be seen as a Pretty good I think new Runner option as A Max cushion shoe that is a fair bit Cheaper than the top options on the Market it's not incredibly cheap but it Certainly is cheaper than lots of the Shoes out there and it will be a good First shoe for people who want a Protective ride when they're first Getting into running however I do think You're going to get a better ride from Most of the best cushion shoes out there I do think you they just use slightly Better Foams that are a little bit more Lively or comfortable or soft or Something you know something like that You're going to get a little bit more Out of them and in comparison to those The ks 9002 is just lacking something a Little bit with the rid now you'd expect That from maybe from Kon if you're Looking them as a more budget brand but This isn't really a budget shoe it's a Fairly cheap shoe but and it definitely Is good value I think for what it offers But I don't think it's a budget shoe and You can get cheaper shoes that I think Offer a bit more like there are things Like the Puma velocity Nitro 3 the rebok Float ride energy 5 line they're
Slightly less cushion but actually still Well cushioned shoes that have slightly Better mid cell phones offer more Versatility and they are cheaper and if You are just looking for a Max cushion Shoe you can find them at around the Same price even on list price like the Puma magnify Nitro 2 is only a touch More expensive and actually has a much Better midell foam I think that is livel More comfortable softer just in Generally a better midso for any kind of Run whether you are looking for reverse T cushion shoe or just for an easy run Shoe and you definitely will be able to Find you know really impressive cushion Shoes or L gen cushion shoes in sales That come down towards the price of the Ks 900. 2 because like I say it isn't Exceptionally cheap it's reasonably well Priced but not very cheap so I think Every time I've gone out and looked in Like Black Friday sales and stuff like That you can find things like the A6 Jael Nimbus or the saky Triumph or the Saky ride or the Brooks Glycerin Dropping down to around this kind of Price now the cathon will sometimes hold Its own sales but it's not actually that Frequent and obviously with the big Brands you got to hold range of Retailers you can go to and find shoes At a reduced price and you are just Going to get I think more lively shoes
So while it is value I think you can Find equally good value with better Shoes and if you're not concerned about Price I think there are certainly better Cushion shoes out there I really like The Brooks Glycerin 21 I think that's a Really fantastic cushion shoe that has a Quite a poppy ride for what is a very Cushion and comfortable shoe SES ride 17 And the Triumph 21 big fans of those on The channel they're also very good Cushion shoes that are more verstile a Little bit softer Under Foot as well the SXL Nimbus line is also very good the 25 Is the not the newest shoe but I think The one to get over the 26 cuz a bit Older a bit cheaper and I slightly Prefer it myself and actually you can Now get really cushion shoes these days That are just a lot lighter and just a Bit more useful for all kinds of runs Like the ASX no blast 4 which I think is Classed more as a daily trainer just Because it is a bit lighter but it's got More cushioning than the ks9 100.2 again It's not that much more expensive and I Think that's a really good versatile Shoe if you are someone who likes a big Amount of cushioning on the foot but Once a shoe that can handle a bit of Everything so I think the ks9 100.2 kind Of delivers on what it sets out to and About what I'd expect from a Max cushion Shoe in the Ki Ron line and that it's
Reliable solid does its job and it does Offer good value but it doesn't offer Exceptional value and it certain do not For exceptional performance so I don't Think it's really going to stand out in What is a very crowded cushion Sho Market these days I think if you are Prepared to shop around have it of time To do so you will get a better shoe for The same old price or even cheaper than The ks9 10.2 so overall a solid effort a Good addition to the kiun lineup I think Because there wasn't the max cushion Shoe in that lineup before but going Forward to really compete in this area I K's going to need some slightly softer Or more lively or just generally better Mid cell phones in its cushion shoes cuz The end pham's okay but there are Certainly materials I think that perform Better on the run from other [Music] Brands oh that's our review of the kiun Ks9 100.2 let us know what you think in The comments below please do like and Subscribe and ring the little bell That's something that really helps the Channel out and let us know what you Think of the way the cathon is Approaching is Ki run range we've been Impressed by their shoes we've got a Review of their new carbon racing Sho up On the channel now as well and yeah We'll see you next
