Shokz is the boss of bone conduction but there are some rival brands out to challenge its dominance. In this video, we’ve got the latest bone conduction headphones from Shokz’ rivals Mojawa. The Mojawa HaptiFit Terra aim to do much more than simply soundtrack your run. With haptic controls, Bluetooth and MP3 playback, built-in heart rate monitoring and AI coaching in the partner app, these bone conductors are part headphones, part fitness tracker, part smart coach. But are they really a Shokz alternative? And are they worth the £279 premium price tag? Run Tester Kieran hit the road, the pool and the gym to find out. Here’s his Mojawa HaptiFit Terra review.

Hi people welcome to the Run testers and In this video we have got the latest Bone conduction headphones from shock Rivals maawa these are the maawa hay fit Terror and they aim to do much more than Simply soundtrack your run with hatic Controls Bluetooth and MP3 playback Built-in heart rate monitoring and AI Coaching in the partner app these bone Conductors are part headphones part Fitness trackers part smart coach but Can they really rival shocks and are They worth the £ 279 premium price tag Well I've hit the road the pool and the Gym to find out and here is my maawa Happy fit Terror Review first up design then unlike the Shocks open swim Pro the maiaa happy fit Tera features MP3 and Bluetooth playback With built-in storage for up to 8,000 Tracks that's 32 gigs that's the same as The open swim Pro they follow the Familiar bone conduction blueprint You've got these vibrating transducer Pads here they hook over your ear sit on Your cheekbones and leave your ears open If you can put them on properly whilst You're doing talking to the world around For that full safety and situational Awareness now the pads are connected by A titanium alloy neckband that's nice And flexible it keeps things relatively Light but 35 G these are a chunkier and Heavier option than the 27 G Shocks open

Swim Pro one major difference from Shocks is that the bone conduction pads Here also feature capacitive and Pressure sensing haptic control pads These also light up the right pad here Also has an optical heart rate sensor Built into it that's following on the From like the s High of momentum and Offering an alternative way to track Your running beats per minute on the Move overall these are well built with An ip68 rating that offers full dust and Waterproofing they'll survive in up to 2 Meters of water for up to two hours so That's a thumbs up for pool swimming Not Open Water Swimming though battery life Is listed as 8 hours more on that though Later Now when it comes to the run test I Found them comfortable to wear even for Extended workouts for up to 2 hours they Fit well with good security from the ear Hooks however like all bone conductors There is some bounce if you start doing Things like jumping off box and doing More Dynamic drills in the gym the neck Band design also isn't great if you're Going to do bench work in the gym it's Part of my strength training that I do It does kind a hit on the back of the Bench so that can consider the two sets Of controls are less convincing as well They 3D pressure sensitive haptic Controls on the left pad and tap

Controls on the side unit of the Neckband the combination of firm and Light presses and holds takes some Learning in the techniques for sort of Changing the volume up and down are Really very fiddly the response on the Tap controls that's used to switch Between MP3 and Bluetooth mode is also a Bit hit and miss and I couldn't toggle Between those two playback modes in the App either I didn't get that option you Can do that on the shocks now on Connectivity they feature Bluetooth 5.2 With support for two simultaneous Pairings that makes it easy to switch From from phone to laptop and vice versa Though I found in Bluetooth mode they Occasionally dropped connection during My runs they came back but and it wasn't Really that often but often enough to be A little frustrating now as I mentioned There's 32 GB of Music storage on here Enough for around about 8,000 songs Getting your music onto the headphones It's done by drag and drop though you'll Need to own music files in the first Place to do it and like the shocks open Swim proo you're going to have to Connect these to a laptop to make that Possible helpfully unlike the shocks the Cable here though is Mac compatible but As we said with shocks it's a bigger Mission there's no way to add and manage Music from your phone sadly also like

The shocks the ha toit Terror built-in Music player also lacks any kind of Playlist management you're essentially Just dumping a whole big load of tracks Into one big list though there is a Shuffle and loop mode on here which is One step on from what you'll get on the Shocks open swim Pro so let's talk about the run tracking And the fitness smarts the Maia happy F Tera carries a hefty price tag partly Because you're paying for the heart rate Tracking and coaching smarts that other Headphones don't offer now mou isn't the First brand to stick an optical sensor In a pair of headphones Sennheiser did It recently with the Sennheiser momentum JBL did it way way back when they had a Partnership with Under Armor but in my Experience this never quite delivers it Rarely improves on the accuracy of the Optical sensor you already have on your Running watch and it certainly doesn't Match the accuracy of a chest strap and That is his PE true with these Headphones in my tests the heart rate Accuracy was pretty poor for example I Did a 1H hour run an average of 7 Minutes per kilometer and that Registered an average heart rate of 65 Beats per minute now that would be super Human if it were true my polar h10 chest Trap shows it was close to 116 BPM that Is accurate now during the run I could

See that the maawa was locking my heart Rate at 53 BPM for long periods of time On another interval workout it locked at 79 BPM and it gave me average of 80 BPM For the whole session again that's just Way off what it was actually in practice Now even if the heart rate was reliable The happy fit Terror also doesn't Broadcast heart rate so there's a Drawback here you can't even use this Instead of a chest strap so while it's a Nice idea to have built-in heart rate This isn't a premium feature that I Would pay extra for here now what about The coaching smarts for in theory the Partner app serves up automatically Generated allegedly AI powered exercise Plans for running you know we've seen This stuff before smart coaching Now to unlock the Insight you need to do Initial 15minute run test that's pretty Standard benchmarking stuff however Despite completing multiple runs the Mawa kept insisting that there was no Valid running data to set my baselines So I've so far been unable to unlock the Plans so I have no idea how good or bad They are once you get the other side of That now I have a feeling this was as a Result of my runs not logging a high Enough heart rate you sometimes you need A high heart rate to do that but again That's the fault of the sensor I did the Work it just wasn't clocking it accurate

L and that is a problem in any case even If it was working if you're brand new to Running maybe this would be a useful Feature but if you run already you own a Gar a polar a choros your Apple watch You already have the tools at your Disposal that serve up smart training Plans in one form or another if you're Already invested in one of those other Platforms as well it's where all your Data is being fired I don't think maawa Is is good enough really to make you Want to switch there not doesn't do Enough to make you go from G over and Use it instead which brings me to Another bug bear the Mawa training app Doesn't currently connect to any third Party app so you can't even record the Data and then share that training data To your existing services like stra and Whatnot now on the flip side one thing I Did find fairly useful I can see how the Instant audio and vibrating haptic Feedback that you get here can help you Target Pace Cadence and heart rate that Might come in handy for some Runners who Want to work on those Things now I said it with the shocks Open swim Pro you don't buy bone Conduction headphones for the very best Sound quality and generally in out of The water the maiaa happy fit Tera serve Up standard audio performance for bone Conductors overall it's a bit thin it's

A bit lightweight it's lacking the base And that big top volume that you'll get To rival regular in here buds it's Probably not as good as well overall as The shocks open swim pro quality now There are four different sound modes Balanced swim vocal and enhanced there's Not much to choose between those out of The water I don't think in how they Sound the enhance mode is the biggest Difference it really boosts the volume But in noisier situations like running By a busy road my music was easily Drowned out increasing the volume to top Whack also caused a bit more cheekbone VI vibration than I found with the Shocks open swim Pro in the water I had Real struggles with these in mp3 mode The audio just kept cutting out every Time I pushed off with my head in the Water almost as though the water was Triggering the haptic controls which They shouldn't do in that mode now I Didn't get a single lap of a 25 met pull With full audio for the fleeting moments Where I did have sound it was pass not As good again as the open swim Pro but If this worked consistently it would be Good enough to provide reasonable Ino Entertainment it just faked out for me More often than I really was able to Find it Useful battery life then and on paper The MAA happy fit Tera claims 8 hours

Work run time at 75% volume they don't Break it down versus Bluetooth versus uh Mp3 mode now the rapid charge offers an Hour and a half from 5 minutes on the Plug and I found that the auto on and Off was good for sparing precious Battery life take them off put them down They cut out in my test on average a 1 Hour run in Bluetooth mode with volume At 100% burn 20% in mp3 mode a 1 hour Swim at the same top volume also burn 20% so I think that's going to come up Just short of the listed battery Lifetime obviously it's going to change If you lower the Volume verdict then and for me the maawa Happy fit Tera is a classic case of an Ambitious product that's trying to do Too much and unfortunately it's missing The mark on some of those major things The tracking and coaching features look Exciting on paper and some newer Runners Might be drawn to the promise of a Multi-purpose tracking training and Music tool allinone but unfortunately Those features don't really work well Enough to be genuinely useful you've Probably got better training tools on Your watch already the MP3 sound Struggled in the pool and the fancy Haptic controls are for me a little bit Over complicated and that makes it hard To justify the Pumped Up price for these Take away the unreliable heart rate

Monitor and that temperamental AI coach And you have a set of Fitness swim run Headphones that are generally sound but If that's what you're after then I think The shocks open swim Pro offers all of That but at £69 they're much cheaper While the maawa Run plus also offer that MP3 Bluetooth swim run capability for Just shy of 160 so they're well worth a Look as an alternative so that's been my Review of the maawa happy fit Tera hope You found it useful don't forget to hit Like if you did maybe share this vid With other Runners who might find it Informative and of course hit subscribe If you've not already subscribe to the Channel That will let you know when more Videos are landing if you're looking for Alternative I'm popping the shocks open Swim Pro review up on screen now get Stuck into that otherwise as ever thanks Very much for stopping by and we hope to See you again soon on the Run testers Happy running people
