Hello and welcome to the Run testers my Name is Nick and in this video we're Going to be comparing the Nike Pegasus 41 and the Adidas Supernova [Music] Primer Pegasus 41 and Supernova primer Or Prima I'm going to alternate between Those probably during this review are Both well cushioned daily trainers that Are new shoes out this year obviously The Pegasus is a very long running line From Nike whereas the supernova Prima is A new shoe in the lineup that sits above Now the Supernova rise which is a Slightly less cushion shoe that has the Same foam in the midsole Pegasus is the Cheaper shoe is £130 or $140 whereas the Supernova proma is £150 or $160 BRAC Room weight the Pegasus is $291 G or 10.3 Oz whereas the Supernova Prima is 288 G or 10.2 o and the Pegasus is a 10 Mm drop whereas the Supernova has an 8 Mm drop it comes to the design with the Nike Pegasus 41 you've now got a react x Midsole with two Air Zoom pods one under The heel one under the for foot those Are entirely encased in this new react Ex foone which is meant to give you a Little bit more energy return and is a Bit more environmentally friendly than The previous react foam used on the shoe You got an engineered mesh chopper with Quite a lot of padding around the tongue And heel of the shoe but it's not in

Crazy amount it's a little bit more Breathable in the forefoot than previous Models of the shoe got an internal heel Counter as well at the back and then You've got a waffle tread out soole on The shoe with pretty good rber coverage At the 4 foot and heel with the Adidas Supernova Prima you've got an engineered Mesh uper that's quite thick I think It's a dual layer upper quite a lot of Padding around the heel in particular But the actual tongue itself is fairly Thin got a fair amount of structure There as well with a strong internal Heel counter you have a dream strike Plus midsole this is a new Pham that Adidas has released of late to upgrade The Supernova line and you've also got These foam rods that run under the Bottom of the shoe these are support Rods that are designed to add a bit more Structure to the midsole with along with That dream strike foam then you have a Light traction rubber out sole you see It only covers the 4ot and extends back To the interior of the heel of the shoe There of exposed foam around the back There it's quite a Durable foam I'm not Sure it's going to be a big problem but The rubber doesn't actually cover the Outs soole [Music] Completely so let's give you a quick fit Comparison starting with a night Peg 41

Loads of room towards the end of the toe Box loads and loads of flexibility in Here the uppers stretch and flex this is A shoe that gives you loads of room for Your toes to wiggle and move across the Top towards the end if anything perhaps Some people you can see after this we're Comeing up to 200 mil may find that this Loses a little bit of structure and it Might be too loose if you come back up The midfoot I get good lace lock down Across the middle here no pinching on The toe Knuckles just nice hold locks Down nicely you've got just a kind of Well balanced medium padded tongue here Little bit of a bul but takes the lace Pinch off when you come back into the Collars they are medium to well padded Lots of yeah plush enough good hold Achilles kick back here no problem with Rubbing into or pressure into the back Of the Achilles and I get really good Hold no slipping at all overall I run in A regular Nike size in that which was a Uk8 and a half for me when you flip over To the Adidas Supernova Prima again I Think you've got a good amount of room At the end of the toe box there is a Good amount of flex to wiggle the toes As well there's not quite as much Clearance across the top of the toes Although you know it's not a pressure or You're not going to bash your toenails If you're looking to run in this long

Time where it changes a little bit is When you get back into this kind of Midsection Adidas shoes definitely hold Tighter there's a much more kind of snug Feel though again it's not cramped for An Adidas shoe actually here into the Toe Knuckles and then it really holds With good lock down across the midfoot But that does you know maybe for some People might border on feeling tight Particularly if you're thinking about Using these shoes for a long long time On feet the tongue's not quite so padded They basically rely on this little extra Bit of padding here otherwise you've got Quite a flat wrapping tongue this little Bit padding to take the lace pinch off Heel collar a little bit more padded Actually than Nike Peg 41s good amount Of flex here back into this kind of top For the heel Coller so again no trouble For me with the kind of Achilles Pressure here good hold around the heels They hold the foot nice and firm overall Again I think I normally struggle a bit With adid Das shoes and sometimes I have To go half size up but with these I Would recommend going true to size I ran In a UK and a half which is my regular Shoe size and that's what I'd recommend So I've got a uk9 for both of these Shoes which is actually a different size In the US with Nike it's a us10 and with The Adidas it's a US 9.5 it's the size I

Tend to get with these Brands and I have Had a similar fit from both which is Potentially interesting if you're in in The US and looking between them because They are slight different sizes and I Think there's a similar amount of room In the toe box there was enough room for Me though just sticking with my normal Uk9 and then a good hold around the heel And midfoot didn't have any concerns Really at all with the Nike Pegasus it's Got very comfortable fit all around with The Adidas occasionally the amount of Kind of rubber and the structured heel Counter you have at the back here did Tend to slightly irritate my achilles at Times but nothing too bad so overall I Hadn't really got any big fit concerns With these two shoes I would stick with Your normal size for these Brands just Be aware that the way they convert from UK to the US is a little bit different [Music] So I've run about 50 or 60k in both of These shoes using them mostly for a lot Of easy daily training miles and long Runs and that kind of thing they are Both comfortable shoes they're very much This new blend of cushion daily trainer That puts Comfort first and they are Very nice for rolling through those easy Miles and long runs probably even more So in the case of the Adidas I think You' got a little bit more foam Under

Foot I think it's a little bit more Comfortable as a result both are cushion Daily trainers that you can use for you A wide range of runs there's a little Bit of Versatility there I would Probably look at these purely as easy Run shoes really maybe the occasional Kind of tempo run and have a rotation With slightly faster shoes but if you Are a runner who sticks just having one Shoe they're both pretty good options For it because they are cushioned and Protective but they do have a bit of Versatility if you want to go in up the Pace either in a speed session or even Kind of a long distance race that kind Of thing certainly for me the Similarities kind of outweigh the Differences between them they are both Good Workhorse shoes that are Comfortable that can do a range of runs Well they tick over fairly nicely but There is a slight difference in the kind Of drop and ride feel of the shoes with The Nike you've got that slightly higher Drop and a slightly thinner for foot in Particular you get a slightly more Snappy feeling going through as a result And as a heel Striker I can hit the for Foot quite hard on shoes I haven't had Any discomfort with the Nike Pegasus 41 I think there's enough cushioning Under Underf Foot with this new react X Midsole but do get a little bit more

Cush I think under the four foot of the Adidas Supernova Prima slightly lower Drop this kind of elongated heel bevel As well I think just Smooths out the Ride a little bit as a heel strike and I Think you get slightly more rocket Feeling with it compared to the Pegasus Which has that kind of more traditional Snap through to it did a in both shoes At the same time and that kind of came Across you've got that slightly smoother Rolling motion from the Adidas and I Think the foam is actually a little bit Softer and a little bit more responsive All around I think it is a slightly Better foam than you have on the Pegasus I think this react X is kind of okay in Partnership with the Air Zoom pods I Quite like running in it but I think Adidas's dream strike plus foam well It's not one that knocks my socks off I Think it is a slightly better foam and You do get kind of the best of both Wes With you've got that nice little bit of Comfort and you do get a little bit more Kind of ping off the for foot of the Shoe if you do want to try and up the Pace and like I say the setup of the Shoe just creates a slightly smoother Feeling it's not to say I dislike the Ride of the Pegasus it's just a bit more Noticeably High drop and thin under the For foot and that's quite nice I like The snap to it sometimes I think you can

Put a bit of pace through the shoe it Just doesn't really give you quite as Much rebound off the four for I found as The Supernova but that said they are Both quite similar in terms of Versatility which just say they're not The most first stle shoes for me I'd Prefer just to use them really for easy Runs both have great well for me in wet Conditions I've used them on light Trails as well you got the advantage of The Nike having that heel rubber Extending all the way back it will be a Really durable shoe because of that and Does grip well now Adidas hasn't done That it's a bit odd because Adidas Normally is very good without SS like Not sure it's going to be a major Problem like I say I've run on light Trails and the shoe it's not going to Cut up this rubber at all but is a Little bit of a shame they didn't extend The rubber all the way back but you have Got good grip I think it will still be a Very durable shoe as well I do also Prefer the upper on the Pegasus though Because it just kind of gets out of the Way I think it's a little bit more Breathable around the for foot than the Adidas in warm conditions and it's a Little bit less kind of overdone in Terms of the padding and structure at The back like it still has that Supportive heel counter but did find the

Adidas could be a bit cloying around the Back it's B warm lots of padding around There and then like I said the hill Counter did irritate my Kes from time to Time now before I get into the run test First off big thanks to sportsshoes.com For supplying me with our test pair of The Adidas Supernova Prima and now in Testing I've enjoyed my miles in both of These shoes I'm closing in on 200 miles In the Nike Pegasus 41 probably close to 50 60 in the Supernova Prima I've used Them both for everything from Easy miles To uptempo efforts to test that full Pace range and the versatility I've Mixed in roads River pars a few kind of Off-road bits as well in both shoes I've Also done a marathon test in the Nike Pegasus 41 which is up on the channel Now if you want to go check that out That was a 6 hour long run test now for Me these are two very competent daily Trainers that have nailed the balance of Cushioning protection weight and energy But to tease out the differences in the Ride I also took them for a side by side Mile in the 33 degree atalian heat and Here's what I found I'm doing the side By side test I've got the Adidas Supernova premium on my left foot I have I've got the Nike Peg 41 on the right Foot as I'm running big difference here Is you can feel the volume of the stack On the Supernova Prima it's not only

Softer but it's also much more bouncy Much more energy much more spring it's a More pronounced rocker ring as well Which also really helps with that Forward energy the peg 41 feels a bit Flat by comparison feels a bit more Direct bit more of the road coming up Through one of the big differences here I think if you like a rocket shoe with a Bit of spring and energy then the Supernova PR is going to be more shoe Than the peg 41 the peg 41 Now by Comparison here just feels a little bit More traditional and by that I just mean It runs like an older shoe but not in a Bad way I I still like it because if you Like that kind of more sort of ground Contact kind of road coming up you know Just controlled ride it is balanced the Peg 41 it's not energetically pushing You forward it's just sitting in the Background taking the edge off the road Doing a job I guess you know the super Over primer is actually doing a bit more Work here as I run I can feel it s Pushing me through the stride a bit more Whereas with the peg 41 I have to run I Have to pick my feet I have feel like I Have to land a little bit kind of mid to 4 foot and work a little bit harder in The shoe now I personally don't mind That I don't want all my shoes to do all The work for me if you want a shoe That's going to be a bit more energetic

Than the Supernova pramer is definitely That I would say there's probably a bit More stability in the peg 41 as a result Though Supernova Prima yeah if you don't Get on with a rocker ride that's maybe Not going to be your cup of tea Weight Wise there feels like there's more shoe In the Supernova Prima than there is in The peg 41 which just feels a little bit More compact perhaps a little bit more Agile and a little bit more Nimble There's definitely a bit more room Across the top of the midfoot as well You can lock that in tighter if you want The Prima lot of add dashew come up a Little bit more snug the back of the Toes there there's definitely more Flex In the toe box and across the to top of The uppers in the peg 41 so if you're Thinking about a shoe where you're going To be in in them for 3 4 hours and you Want proper roominess Peg 41 probably Has more of that than the Supernova Prima but really I think it's going to Come down to a higher punchier midsole With a more rocked ride in the Supernova Prima whereas the peg 41 it just feels a Bit more traditional takes the edge off The road there is cushioning and Protection there but it's just a bit Flat it's not quite as energetic and There's not as much of the rocker in Going on so yeah it just runs a little Bit more like an old school

[Music] Shoe verdict then and I find this one Pretty tough to call I'm a fan of both Of these shoes for my easier runs They're very easy shoes to lace up for Quite a wide selection of the miles that I'll generally rack up in a week they Really cope well and provide good Reliable comfort for all but the very Fastest efforts and allout races now the Adidas super over Prima I'd say it's the Best Adidas daily trainer that I've run In a long time although there is the Caveat that I've not tried the Boston 12 The Nike Pegasus 41 haven't run in a Pegasus for a long time but it quickly Became a favorite as well I used it for All my holiday mileage and was a massive Workhorse for that it's the first time In a long time I've laced up a Peg and It's my kind of shoe so which one of These is better then well even though It's a chunk price here for me the Supernova Prima packs more punch from That bigger stack of dream strike plus Foam that I think is livelier than the React X and Air Zoom unit combo that you Get on the Pegasus so that just makes it Marginally more veratile a shoe and Therefore I think arguably better value Overall so though I've really enjoyed Logging the miles of the Nike Pegasus 41 I think I'd be willing to pay the extra For the Supernova Prima Just for that

Extra range that it offers so verdict This is a slightly tricky one for me I Think overall I think when you're just Looking at the underfoot feeling the Ride you get from the midsole setup I do Think the Adidas has a better midsole Setup I like this phone the dream strike Plus a little bit more I like the Slightly lower drop and I think it's got A smoother ride with the whole geometry Of the shoe especially with this kind of Elongated heel design here I think it Rolls through quite nicely I think it Has a bit more kind of pop and kind of Response if you are going to run fast in It as well but it's all quite marginal And the Pegasus does have some Advantages to it as well like I prefer The heel design on the Pegasus I like The fact the outside goes all the way Back the ride I think is still pretty Good it is real comfortable and Everything like that and it does have The advantage of being a nicer looking Shoe for casual use as well which you Know is an advantage if you're looking At a daily trainer you're going to walk Around in as well and of course it is Cheaper so I actually think both of These shoes will end up being pretty Good value because Nike tends to reduce The Pegasus a lot Adas actually has a Pretty good record of reducing it shoes As well so I wouldn't be surprised to

See both of them hopefully nearing more Like the 100 Mark in which case going to Get a bit of a bargain with either like I said I do think the Supernova primer Is a slightly better shoe with that Underfoot ride and if you don't get Irritated by the upper in anyway you Don't find it too warm or anything like That it's probably the one to go for and You don't mind spending that a little Bit extra but for me probably be a case If I was looking for a Workhorse daily Trainer I might just look at both of These shoes and see which was in a Better deal at the time and maybe go for That one because they are both pretty Good I'd use them for a similar purpose Which is like I say to knock out those Easy miles in Daily training and they Both did their job really quite [Music] Well as a comparison of the Pegasus 41 And the ads Supernova primer or Prima Please leave like And subscribe ring the Little bell and we'll see you next time
