The Nike Vomero 18 is the update to the Vomero 17, arguably one of our favourite Nike daily trainers we’ve tested in a very long time.

There’s big changes for the new Vomero, as Nike brings its ZoomX and ReactX cushioning technology into one shoe and also updates the upper to make the Vomero 18 more comfortable to lace up.

Testers Kieran and Mike have put in some early testing time with the Vomero 18 to see what’s new, and share some initial thoughts on whether this is shaping up to be one of the best max cushioned daily trainers to grab in 2025.

Hey this is Mike from the rers this is The new Nike vomero 18 the update Tonight's cushion daily trainer now it's Fair to say we're big fans of Vero 17 And there are some changes here on the New Vero and a bit of a clue here to What they are on the back of the shoe And we'll get into what those are Exactly then myself and Kieran will get Into some early running plots and let You know whether the Vero 18 is shaping Up as a good upgrade on the 17 and Whether this is a cushion daily Trainer Shoe that you should be looking out for In [Music] 2025 so here are those key Nik verer 18 Details this will be the first of a line Of new vomero shoes to launch in 2025 This first one is priced £ 135 in the UK And $150 in the US which means a slight Drop in price on the Vero 17 Weight Wise The Vero 18 weighs in heavier with a Size N9 coming in at 325 G compared to 300 G on the 17 the drop sticks to 10 mm With stack Heights increasing at both The heel and the forefoot and that's to Pack in more zoomx foam which is now Matched up with Nike's react ex Cushioning to provide Comfort protection And still give you some of that Zoom X Balce the upper remains an engineered Mesh one that adds more padding at the Heel and collar with a waffle style outo

Design once again in place to provide Plenty of [Music] Grip fit then and I ran in a UK 8 A2 Which is my regular size in Nike and I Like the fit it's all about Plus Crush Comfort with a room enough toe box the Padded heel collar really hold well no Rubbing just soft Comfort these padded Tongues also let you lock the laces down Without any unwanted pressure I think Overall the uppers have a good amount of Flex they secure nicely across the toe Knuckles without being tight so those Uppers Flex with your feet As you move I Had no problems with getting good lock Down and I would recommend going true to Sizeing these shoes so in terms of fit It's looking good for me so far the Vero 18 I've got mine in a UK size 8 that is My usual running shoe size generally Going through to sizing nik's kind of Shoes particularly daily trainer shoes Has worked out well for me on most shoes I think the Pegasus the Nike Infinity Rn4 the Invincible or you know felt a Little bit long for me so that's Probably the only time where I felt the Sizing has been a little bit off but Generally I think for me here it's Looking pretty good I think things to Kind of kind of draw attention to here It's the toe box you know I was Expecting something a bit kind of bigger

And kind of a bit more higher volume It's quite low volume for a toe box and Uh you know has feel uncomfortable in That first run I think I'll be Interested to see how it feels on a Longer run and whether there's good Amount of room there to kind of spread Out in but generally I didn't feel kind Of any undue pressure on any of my toes Or anywhere in the front of this shoe Midfoot hold pretty good lacing pretty Standard there's a lot of padding in This tongue which I think from a comfort Point of view great I think in terms of Getting that lock down on the top of Your foot I think I really had to kind Of cinch these in a bit tighter to Really kind of make sure you're getting Something tight enough on uh the top of That bed very padded tongue going have Good kind of level of padding in the Hill color as well it's going to do a Good job in terms of offering that kind Of protection around there and keeping Things kind of stable and controlled Around the back so yeah I think for me Going through the size I think is going To work and I'm I'm kind of liking what I'm seeing the main thing I would say I'm looking to see is whether that kind Of low volume toe box or lower than Expected volume toe box is going to be Enough room on longer [Music]

Runs so then I'm just back from doing my Second run in the Nike Vero 18 yesterday I did a two- mile where I had some Faster paced miles I think I hit Something sort of sub sevens in there Today I did a mix I went from sort of Cruising Pace bit marathon pace Something a bit slower in there as well About 7 and a half miles today an hour On feet a good test for the shoes Overall over those two runs and the First thing that you notice if you've Come from the Vero 17 into the 18 is That bigger stack of cushioned of zoomx And react that combo and what you're Getting is a much softer but slightly Bouncy slightly springy ride there's Much more energy I think to the shoes Overall they are heavier and I know That's one thing that a lot of people Have kind of commented on already that These shoes look heavy and they're Certainly up there in terms of the Weight on the foot I don't think they Run too heavy though and I think at Cruising Pace you know you're getting Lots of nice cushion plush comfort and The trade-off to me feels okay I think This is a shoe that has on First Impressions pretty good balance to it Actually those miles were comfortable There is a bit of energy coming back if You want something that's going to S of Take away the edge of the road they're

Doing that very Happily One thing I Noticed there's a bit more cushion when You're Landing back in the heels is a Bit softer back there than when you're Up on your sort of mid to 4 foot that's When also I found that the rocker kicked In a bit more and those there was a bit More kind of energy in the transitions When I was Landing further back when I'm Up on my mid to 4 foot wasn't so much They felt a little bit flatter there When you first put the shoes on actually You can feel that there's quite a big Kind of rocker into the the 4ot you Could sort of feel the curvature a Little bit but overall I think they've Been kind of nice and comfortable on the Feet I think the uppers are maybe where There's a bit of heaviness so they are Quite thick the uppers and I think There's going to be a warmth to these Shoes if you're running in kind of Really hot temperatures but again what You're getting as a sort of tradeoff for That is that you get nicely cocooned They feel nice and plush they are Comfortable lots of flex in the toebox Lots of wiggle room sort of soft footed Yeah Everything feels you know really Nice kind of swaddled so if you like That feeling that sensation on the foot I think this is going to be a shoe that You might enjoy I enjoyed those miles With them actually I've been on fairly

Heavy legs coming off the trans Grand Canaria marathon and yesterday was the First time I felt like I could really Push the energy and when I did these Shoes actually responded really more Than I thought they would for what is Going to be a maxed kind of cushion shoe They actually gave me more back so I Don't think they're necessarily like a Onetick pony either that's my first Impression I think they're going to be Able to do a bit more they cope with the Sort of six-minute Miles when I was Tired out there today at the end of The Run they did feel a bit more sluggish Though but then that's where the Cushioning kicks in and they felt nicely Cushioned so yeah I think my first Impressions of the shoes are I've Enjoyed the miles in them I think They're ticking a lot of boxes I think They're a better shoe than the vomero 17 I think they've probably got more range And versatility in them I think a lot of People are probably going to like the Extra cushioning on the platform First Impressions after that have been pretty Positive another thing I've just thought Of as I'm just walking back I've Forgotten to mention I haven't measured The platform compared to some of the Bigger stack shoes that we've got the Other ones but I think a lot of the high Stack shoes now offset that big stack in

The for foot with this big wide Platform sometimes that can feel a bit Clumpy and a bit clunky and it adds like A bit of heftiness to the shoe in terms Of the way they feel on the foot with The vomero 18 they've still sort of Stuck to I think what is quite a narrow Platform it's a bit more precision and I Think that helps with them feeling a Little bit more Nimble when you start to Pick up the pace I think it's a Interesting thing particularly in such a Big stack shoe I guess the you know Normally you would go with a wider Platform to add stability but I don't Think these felt unstable at all In Those runs I think they felt nicely Controlled with that cushion so yeah That's another interesting observation I'm going to be really interested to see How they work out when you start to S Push the pace for longer stretches or Maybe even take them for you know 90 Minutes when you get into that 90 minute 2our sort of spot of the shoe that when It's supposed to be a Max cushion shoe For Long Easy that's when you want to Know really how it feels towards the end Of that so we'll do that in testing for The review so into that first run now I've actually had the Vera 18 in for a Few days and I was weighing up using it For my long Sunday run now that was a Very race Pace Focus long run and what I

Ended up doing was actually tring the Shoe that I'm potentially wanting to Race in for the half marathon that I'm Training for and with new shoes I kind Of like to ease myself in so I decided To reserve the 18 for another run which Was today that was a five mile run at a Very relaxed pace kind of Target Pace of Kind of 8:30 9 minute mile Pace ended up Actually going out or kind of running Generally a little bit quicker than that I'll get into what I think that is now This is the first time that I've run in A Vero shoe I have run other Nike daily Trainers so things like the Pegasus the Nike Invincible the last few versions The Nik Infinity rn4 which I know was an Absolutely love debuted that react X Cushioning which is now in here with the Zumex one on the Vero um I didn't mind That shoe I know it wasn't I kind of Universally loved I kind of found it Quite comfortable um but some found that You know the M bit dull and maybe on its Own probably didn't work as well and Particularly look at the zoomx phone Which is probably the standout Cushioning technology that Nike has you Know probably didn't kind of match up to That so seeing how it can combined with The zoomx works on the Vero I think was I think it was definitely something that Was of Interest here now as I said I Plan to go out of 839 minute mile Pace I

Think I ended up going a little bit Quicker than that kind of 810 815 um it Was you know I think mainly down to the Fact that it's quite a lively issue that Zoomx frame you really do notice it that Bounciness that kind of kind of you know High rebound you get from the zoom X Phone which I do think is tempered not So much by the react X kind of Cushioning which I think kind of softens The kind of feel of um Thea Under Foot I Think it's more to do with the outsole Which there's a lot of rubber here feels Quite Broad in terms of how it sits Below that Mido and I think that helps To kind of you know tone down some of The wildness that you can get from zoomx You know that we have seen on kind of You know racing kind of focus shoes from Nike so I do still think you get that Kind of liveliness but it's not overly Lively I think it's just enough what You'd want over kind of longer runs Where you want a little bit of fun but You don't want it to be the kind of the Bounce of kind of livess that's going to Maybe kind of put a lot of you know Impact on your leg Now I think you know another thing for Me that I've noticed and I haven't run In the previous Pomo it has jumped up a Little bit in weight that shifting Weight I think or the way it sits at Reminds me a lot of my time in the

Brooks Glycerin Max where I think you Know I would have liked that shoe to be A little bit lighter but I do think it Has a touch of Versatility mainly Because the way that cushioning Technology works in the glycerin Max I Feel has similar traits to the vomero 18 Where you're getting that kind of quite A lively bounce um you're getting on a Quite big stack I think what that does And the and the rocker that you're Getting that shoe and like this shoe Allows you to run a little bit quicker I Wouldn't say can of all out faster Paces Really uptempo Paces but kind of Moderate Pace still going to be a shoe That you're going to run more relaxed And Easy in but kind of more moderate Paste um kind of runs I think absolutely Can handle it that's kind of what I'm Seeing from the makeup in the vomero at Now I talked about the outside from a Kind of balancing that ride side of Things I think from a git point of view Absolutely fine there's a lot of rubber Here you know maybe not all over the Shoe but in those kind of key areas that Waffle style TR that we've seen on out From night before I think is going to Work very well for Pavements and roads I Actually at the end of my run kind of Wandered into my park near me and kind Of went on some muddier surfaces and it Felt absolutely fine and felt like it

Wasn't out of place there and I feel Like this could handle some lighter kind Of Trail stuff as well so yeah I'm Liking what I'm seeing with the Vera 18s So far I like the ride you know the the Key for me was how how it's going to Handle over those longer runs whe they Can maintain that and still feel Comfortable to do that I think you know Little bit concerned about the weights I Wish it was a little bit lighter maybe It would have upped the versatility in This shoe but I do think it has some Versatility maybe at the lower end of my Paces but I think definitely it's going To have something there um and that's Something I'm definitely looking and Keen to explore so a good first run of The night Vero 18 definitely looking Forward to spending some longer running Time in this shoe So some early thoughts on the Nik from 18 after a not too long first run in This shoe and I would say I like what I'm seeing so far it feels like a Max Cushion shoe that it you know fitwise Feels very good I think Comfort side of Things feels you know solid as well and That ride it feels like it's giving you Just enough to if you're out and you're Looking for a shoe to soak up a lot of Your kind of daily running mileage it's Going to give you some enjoyment there As well couple of things maybe I have a

Little bit of kind of question mark over The weight obviously has got heavier Than the previous shoe and I would like To have seen it a little bit lighter to See how it feels maybe having a bit more Zoomx in there as well I think that's a Real Stand Out quality in this shoe and I think you know there are obviously Bits and elements in the shoe that help To stabilize the zoomx that is in here But maybe one maybe it could have had a Little bit more in there to just inject A little bit more kind of fun into that Ride I would definitely put it with Other or so far I feel like it's going To sit well other kind of Max shoes or Standout ones that have kind of launched Over the last kind of 12 or so months so Things like the Brooks Glycerin Max I Think it's most similar to the glycerin Max I think things like super Blast 2 Obviously is more expensive I think the Skywood xit again from Hawker is more Expensive but those are very fun Enjoyable long run shoes that I know you Can spend a lot of time in and I feel Like the Vero 18 is going to sit well With those other shoes it is cheaper so It's going to be more affordable going a Comfortable long run shoe is it going to Be the most versatile I think it's Versatile in the sense that the glycerin Maxes where you know it can you can Allow you to drop it slightly Bel you

Know above your kind of more relaxed Recovery kind of style pace and I think It would be absolutely fine and that's Kind of what I saw in that first run so Definitely some positives here with a KN From definitely want to see how it Handles some longer runs which I do have Coming up but yeah so far so good I'm Liking what I'm seeing in the night from Aro 18 clocked around 10 miles in a Vera 18 my first impressions have been Largely positive I really like the extra Cushion here compared to the 17 that Shoe had some pop but didn't feel quite As Lively I don't think as this one does These have much more of a kind of Cushion and spring thing going on what I'm really surprised about though for The big stack shoe with that massive 46 Ms in the hill is that I don't think That it's too soft or too wobbly there's Still a lot of control here for what is A pretty smooth ride there is some Squish but I don't think it's overdone I Like the narrow platform that I think Brings some Precision Maybe that's way Or why I don't notice the weight of the Shoe on the foot as much as you sort of Would think from what they weigh on the Scales now I was a fan of the Nike pegas Is 41 for being a good but maybe more Traditional allrounder and I think Nike Has added stack to the vomero 18 but Hasn't moved miles away from that

Overall Vibe this feels like a shoe that I'm going to be able to do lots of Different Smiles in more cushion but Still controlled and a sub 140 price I Think they've priced it really Competitively too it's the early days in Testing obviously two runs do not make a Verdict but from those two runs I'm Getting good early signs signs of a good Allrounder here I also think it beats a Lot of shoes in the looks Department too Okay so there you have it some early Thoughts on the Nik Vero 18 now we are Still testing away with the shoe and While we're doing that if you've got any Questions about the vomero other issues You desperately want to see it compared To then do let us know as always like And subscribe hit that little bell to Find out about our latest videos and Yeah we'll see you for next R Test's Video [Music]
