Hey people welcome to the Run testers And in this video we are comparing Arguably two of the best heart rate Chest straps in the business we've got The polar h10 and the Garmin HRM Pro Plus these are the chest straps we often Use in our testing to evaluate running Watch Optical sensors they're both chest Straps that we'd recommend and there's Not much really to choose between them On accuracy but there are some subtle Differences so if you're looking for a Heart rate monitor to level up your run Tracking and training data we're here to Help you decide which of these you Should buy so um watch on to find Out now let's start by comparing some of The key specs and Basics then well on Price the Garmin HRM Pro will cost you £119.99 or $1299 the polar h10 is a chunk cheaper At 7650 in the UK and $99.95 in the US For battery life These are both coin Cell battery the Garmin HRM Pro offers 12 months training an hour daily the Polar h10 lists a slightly longer 400 Hours on that single battery now there's Not much to choose on size and weight The Gin ATR Pro weighs 1.8 o or 52 G the Polar h10 comes in at 2.1 o or 60 G when It comes to waterproofing the HRM Pro Plus has slightly better skills in the Water it's good to 50 m against the Polar h10s 30 m now connectivity is

Another big one the Garmin HRM Pro Supports unlimited amp plus connections And three concurrent Bluetooth Connections the polar h10 also offers Amp Plus Plus and Bluetooth and Transmits your heartrate signal Simultaneously via both but with just Two concurrent Bluetooth connections Supported Now tracking is where the Major difference kicks in here the Garmin HRM Pro Plus offers more run Tracking smarts it monitors metrics like Vertical oscillation ground contact time You'll get stride length there vertical Ratio it also tracks running pace and Distance now for indoor track sessions Or treadmill sessions and it sends that Info to compatible Garing watches and You can send the data to the the Treadmill as well and if you're not Wearing a watch it'll still track steps Calories burn and intensity minutes you Can also store the workout data and then Share it direct to the Garmin Connect App later so if you watch battery dies Mid session then you've got some cover Here the polar h10 is a more regular Chest strap it simply really tracks your BPM heart rate there's only onboard Storage for one workout and it doesn't Offer any of those running form metrics And that is the key difference here when It comes to comfort and design Garmin Now has an easier method for replacing

The battery no more screwdrivers needed So you can do it without searching Through the toolbox the polar h10 has Always had that easy access now it's Perhaps another Minor Detail but the Polar has a clip for fastening the strap In place the garmin's hook is marginally More fiddly both are about as Comfortable as chest straps get the Sensor on the HRM Pro is slightly Smaller the fabric on the Polar strap is Slightly softer particularly around Where the sensor touches the skin the Polar strap is also machine washable While the Garmin Isn't Okay so that is a whip through of all The specs and comparisons so now to Which one we prefer which one we choose And why Nick you've got the Garmin HRM Pro Plus and you've got the polar h10 Sat on your desk at home you're about to Go for run which one you going to put on That's a good question uh I've used both Of these for long spells over the past Like two years they've been my best Heart rate monitors at the moment the Polar h10 is winning out for me um There's not really too much to it like I You know I don't think it's more Accurate but I do think it's incredibly Accurate and I really like it just find It probably maybe equally comfortable But youve got the better class I think

On the Polar h10 I like the fact you can Pop off the sensor after a run which Gives me a bit of peace of mind about Saving battery life uh I don't like the Color of my polar h10 strap that is a Point against it but I think a lot of The time actually when I was using the Garmin HRM Pro Plus was when it first Came out I was using the running Dynamics when I was linking it up to Watches just to have a look at those and Actually now all the Gins that they've Released since have got those running Dynamics on them the watches themselves So that I think takes away one feature Of the Pro Plus when I'm when I was Using it so I think basically I think I Came to a battery changing point and uh Both of them had battery Chang and I Brought the polar back downstairs and Have stuck with it but I'm not wedded to That but that's the one I use the most It's the polar h10 how about you so yeah I think there was a point where I was Really kind of hellbent on using running Dynamics I was quite into looking at Those but I've chilled out a bit I don't Rely on those so much I think the watch Covers off most of what I need so I Think unless you're really really Interested in having those and you want To make sure they're definitely being Captured and I guess with sort of maybe An improved level of accuracy arguably

From a chest strap where it's catching All the kind of body motion then I I Don't really see the reason to pay the Extra for the HRM Pro Plus I think on Comfort they're pretty much the same I Quite like the little silicon dots that You get on the Polar h10 to help it kind Of stay in place uh overall yeah the Clasp easy to put on nice and easy to to Put on and take off I do think you know Yeah this these are all kind of small Differences cuz there's not much to Choose changing the battery in the Garmin I know it gives me a little bit More pleasure that's not really true Nick I don't know why I'm saying that It's just a nicer experience isn't it I Like something about taking that Clipping that little rubber hood back on Like yeah yeah little rubber hood is Nice I think probably a lot of the big Differences between them just don't Apply to us that much as just pure Runners uh I think the Garmin if You' Got a Garmin watch and you're a Triathlete then the H run Pro Plus is Going to do a lot more for you because It's going to record your stuff in the Water and generally be a lot more Compatible with things you're going to Be using but for Pure running purposes I Do think yeah it's it's a much muchness And polar is just that little bit I Don't know more appealing go I go with

My gut on this and it's the polar h10 And it's cheaper so if I was buying one I'd obviously buy the h10 yeah yeah if You if you want workout storage as well You're going to have to go HRM Pro Plus But even then it doesn't store a huge Amount that's the only other kind of Point of difference and again on price I Just think yeah for 440 roughly Difference you know for me polar h10 Wins out unless you think one day you Are going to be a swimmer and you want That peace of mind in which case but I Know I will never grow in the water cuz Cuz I hate It so there you have it that has been Our head-to-head of the polar h10 and The Garmin HRM Pro Plus we hope you Found it helpful if you have any Questions hit us up in the comments Below don't forget to like And subscribe And ring that Bell to hear about more Great content that's coming up on the Run testers you'll get notified when new Videos land if you ring that Bell really Helps us so please do if you're Searching for a chest strap or an arm Strap why not check out our top picks of The best heart rate monitors for running That video will be appearing on the Channel right about Now otherwise thanks for watching and we Hope to see you again soon on the Run Testers happy running everyone and good
