The Puma ForeverRun Nitro 2 is a cushioned daily trainer that offers stability through Puma’s RunGuide system, which includes elements like a wide base, external heel counter and sidewalls of foam. It’s a wider, higher and heavier shoe than the original ForeverRun Nitro, and more stable as well, so is the ForeverRun Nitro 2 an improvement overall? Nick has been testing it out ahead of its launch and gives his verdict here.

Hello welcome to run testers my name is Nick and this is our full review of the Puma foreverun Nitro [Music] 2 so the foreverun Nitro 2 is launching Today and it is a stability trainer Within the Puma range it's a cushion Stability shoe with some pretty big Updates on the original version to make It a more stable shoe in particular and Maybe move it out of the stable neutral Category into more of a full stability Trainer category price is staying the Same in the UK it's £140 if it's also The same in the US as the original shoe It will be $150 a little bit more stack Heite on the new version of the shoe it Stands 38 mm tall at the heel and 28 mm At the 4ot for a 10 mm drop that's 2 mm Higher at the heel and for foot than the Original Forever on Nitro as well as Increasing the height the width of the Shoe is increased and that does mean you Are getting a heavier shoe here it Weighs in 314 G or 11 oz that's in my UK Size 9 US 10 the original shoe was 292 G Or 10.3 o in the same size as mentioned The mid has got higher and wider with The new shoe that is the biggest update You have here like the extra 2 mm in Terms of height doesn't make that much Of a difference it was already a very Cushioned shoe but the width is an Important update because it now makes it

More stable so the original foreverun Nitro did have quite a narrow midfoot Section on the shoe which really did Undermine it status as a stability shoe I guess like it was fine for me but I'm A neutral Runner but they widened it on The new version of the shoe to bring it More into line with how brands are you Know approaching stability these days by Having a nice big wide base on the Bottom of shoes the midsole is still a Dual density setup made with two Different forms of humous Nitro foam You've got a bouncier softer core that's Surrounded by a Firma frame of foam Which creates stability again something We've seen in other shoes including the Original foreverun Nitro pum does say It's improved the Nitro foam in this Shoe but don't know exactly what that Amounts to in terms of if it's different Materials or the same foam slightly Rejigged but it is an improved version Of their nitren infused foam along with That frame of fir of foam to create Stability the shoe also has sidewalls of Foam for your foot to sit within then You've got engine knit upper with these Power print overlays running around the Front and sides of the shoe to add a bit More structure not too much padding on The tongue but a lot on the collar it Goes quite far down in the shoe as well To create a nice steping feel you got

Quite a big plastic external heel Counter at the back of the shoe again to Add some more support and stability at The back there then youve got a pumer Grip outso which is just always a winner Especially in the winter here in the UK Nice thick layer of it covering the heel And forefoot and it's also now coverage On the medial side of the midfoot didn't Get that so much on the original version Of the shoes and it should help with Durability grip as [Music] Well comes to the fit of the feveron Nitro 2 I've got my normal size here Which is a uk9 us10 that's a size I Generally use with Puma I with the Racing shoes if they've got no Cushioning at the back I can maybe look At going half size down but with the Original Forever on Nitro and other Shoes like the magmax and velocity Nitro 3 2 1 even uh this has been the right Size for me it's the right size in the Forever run Nitro 2 I have enough room In the toe box no problems at the heel Of the shoe I'm pleased to say so the Magmax and the DV8 Nitro 3 both of them Just seem to irritate my AES a little Bit and I didn't know know what it was Doing that but it's not a problem I've Had at all with a Forever on Nitro it's Got a very comfortable feel at the back There of all that cushioning and all

Around that fits me very good I would Stick to your normal [Music] Size so I've been racking up the miles In the forever run Nitro 2 as quickly as Possible to get this review up before The Embargo date today I've done about 60k in total across a mix of runs a Couple of easy runs my Sunday long run At the weekend and an easy to steady Progression run as well so I did like The original forever run Nitro I think It was a really solid shoe all around as A cushioned you know stable neutral shoe I guess it's the way to put it but it Did make sense that the narrow midfoot On the shoe meant it wasn't really Stable enough to consider the full Stability shoe if you are someone who Needs that little bit of extra support So the changes that have be made to Ron Nitro 2 I think makes sense they have Some drawbacks in terms of the weight Going up for the shoe but overall I Think they have improved the shoe all Around it's definitely got the classic Stability elements we're seeing in lots Of shoes these days that everyone seems To be moving away from stuff like medial Posting you know fopoon all that kind of Thing instead you are getting these dual Density setups with that softer core and A you know slightly firmer frame of foam Around it things like a big external

Heel counter sidewalls of foam that kind Of thing all add up to create a stable Experience without putting anything too Intrusive into the shoe and that's Certainly my experience with the forever Run Nitro too like I'm a neutral Runner None of these elements have bothered me Or reduce my enjoyment of the Run They've just made it you know a nice Stable shoe which I enjoy you know even As a neutral Runner you know on tired Legs and marathon training a bit of Extra support is no bad thing and all Around it just feels like a very Comfortable shoe so as mentioned you Know you have got the extra weight with The shoe which you know is noticeable on The run but the foam is nice and springy And it kind of seems to respond more the More you put into it I would say all Around so whether that's you being a Heavier Runner or running at faster Paces and putting a bit more Force into It or more of a loping runner that kind Of thing I think the more you put in the More kind of you get back with this Nitro frame midell which is very Comfortable for sure and does have you a Decent amount of response which Counteracts the extra weight you have on This shoe certainly for me though the Shoe's been at its best you know on easy Runs on long runs so the long run I did I did a 90-minute long run the day after

Doing you know a really hard 30k session During marathon training and I was on Really tired legs and just ticking along In the shoe just gives a nice level of Support and comfort and just you know Good amount of grip as well here in the Winter in the UK and just I kind of Forget about my shoes a bit just go Enjoy a sunny afternoon and I did that Job well like you can feel the weight a Little bit sometimes I do think the Pummer has a bit of a balance issue with It weight so you know it's about the Same weight as lots of shoes out there But I think some aex and Brooks in Particular they seem to make the balance Between the upper and the midsole weight On the shoe a bit more even I feel like Because their shoes don't feel too Bottom heavy despite being the same Weight as the Puma so this does feel a Little bit bottom heavy I had the same Thing with the magmax but it's less the Case with a fon Nitro 2 for me I find I'm still getting through my foot strike A bit more smoothly than I did with the Magmax and with the magmax the madmax I'm going to call it either the madmax Or the magmax I probably have already Called it the madmax so I can't go back Now and change everything and I do Prefer the ride of this year a little Bit more in terms of just getting a Slightly better transition so even

Though it is a little bit bottom heavy And it is heavy all round do think it's Got you know a pretty nice ride and when I was doing that easy to steady Progression you I probably work down to Around 340 a k Pace by the end I was on The treadmill which obviously changes The feel of things a little bit bit more Treadmill running at the moment I'm Trying to fit things around various Family things but it did feel pretty Good you know running at those faster Paces because as I sped up like I said I Feel like I got a bit more back from the Midsole as I got faster and faster and That might mean if you're a heavier Runner than me someone who puts a bit More Force into the shoe in a maybe Through running style or through weight Or through speed you might get even more Enjoyment out of this midar than I did Which was you know plenty of enjoyment Other thing i' say in terms of the Geometry of the shoe you've got the 10 Mm drop here you get a slightly more Kind of Snappy ride through more Traditional ride through than you do With more rocket shoes overall I'd say Might preference is for more rocket shoe So something like the S Hurrican 24 is Similar setup but has more of a Rocket Ride which tend to smooth out my running Style a bit more as a heel Striker and I Do think if I was looking at longer hard

Runs in the forever and Nitro 2 you Might I might get a bit of four foot Discomfort snapping through but it Wasn't a problem at all kind of an easy Long run or anything like that so yeah It's still got a fairly smoothish ride But you know that ride set up is a bit Different to lots of shoes on the market These days that have you know more Rocked fields or lower [Music] Drops so verdict on the for Nitro 2 I Think this is a a really solid update to The shoe that does make it more suitable As a stability shoe it brings it more Into line with the Rival shoes on the Market whilst retaining you know some Key pummer elements here which know that Nitro phone mid I do like that a lot Obviously love the pumer grip outsole And the fact it's it's slightly cheaper Than a lot of their main competitors Which often happens with pummer shoes if You're looking at the Forever on Nitro At $140 or $150 most of these Competitors are probably be more at the £160 or dollars Mark so you know you're Making a little saving here for what is A really good shoe that you know I think Beats out something like the aex jel Cayo 31 on performance I like the feel Of the pumer a bit more you know it's Equivalent to S Huracan 24 I say those Those two shoes actually have a lot of

Similarities in terms of the way they do Stability the kind of core of a bouncier Foam with the frame of a firmer one and They have really nice feels in terms of The foam in them but I personally prefer The more rocket feel of the hcan 24 but You know that's more of a preference Rather than saying that's just a better Shoe so the Forever on Nitro 2 will Appeal to lots of Runners looking for This kind of stability shoe that doesn't Use those kind of firmer materials like Medial posting and stuff like that Instead goes for this wide base and you General setup to guide your foot rather Than being too intrusive do think it's a Really good shoe for heavy runners or Beginners you are getting still a bit More width yet if you look at something Like the Huracan 24 but you know looking At this shoe and comparing it to other Shoes in the garage it's not too far off The width of somethingone like the keano It's you know is a really wide shoe now So I do think you are going to get that Support at the midf foot that you didn't Necessarily get with the first version Of the shoe and if you aren't looking For that support if you're a neutral Runner you know this is still a good Option though this is a nice supportive Shoe that's fun to run in even as a Neutral Runner so it could be worth Looking at for a rotation P does have

The magmax in it lineup as well as you Know it's a big beefy High stack neutral Shoe I just didn't really get on with That shoe I had some fit issues around The Achilles and the ride just was a bit Stilted for me just didn't really work That well though I know Tom and Mike Liked it a bit more but it's also the Velocity Nitro 3 for a you know a Cheaper neutral shoe in pummer range but That is you know a lot narrower and less Stable than something like the forever Run Nitro 2 whereas the magmax is you Still quite stable I'd say CU it's Pretty wide sh itself but yeah this Would be my pick actually of the highly Cushion shoes in pummer range even as a Neutral Runner because I do like the Ride more than the madmax but magmax Magmax uh but overall we're calling it The madmax the whole time when we were Talking about it during testing Obviously and now that stuck in my head But anyway this is just got a simple Name Forever on Nitro 2 you're not going To mess that up it's not any Mel Gibson Films related to it but yeah a really Good shoot round like I said really Solid option for beginners anyone Looking for a stable shoe that doesn't Really break the bank will be very Durable grips well nice feel Under Foot Yeah all around impressed with the Forever on Nitro
