Vick has an endless amount of ideas for customs, restorations and simple projects, but this one has been on his mind for years. The Bred colorway is Vick’s all time favorite, so it was only right that he put his own twist on the iconic Chicago Jordan 1 with the Nike Dunk Sole. Vick picked up this pair of 1.5’s at Sneakercon and knew they were a great base shoe for this transformation.

Now the Bred 1.5’s feature a questionable midsole and outsole, some might like them, but Vick was for sure not a fan. After buying them for $60 all that was left to do was to find the perfect Nike Dunk Sole to install on this upper. To kick off the project we need to deconstruct the 1.5 pair without ruining the uppers.. This is a tedious and complicated process, but after using some heat and a flathead Vick was able to remove those 1.5 soles and put them where they belong.. In the trash!

After the sole was removed Vick needed to properly clean the entire upper using Reshoevn8r’s cleaning solution and brushes before rinsing them off fully. Last step of the cleaning was to let them sit in the Arizona sun and dry, which wasn’t going to take much.

While the shoes dry it was time for another round of deconstruction.. This time on the donor sneaker! Vick often picks up sneakers from Nike By You for customs and they sit until his next idea comes to mind. That means this project was going to be pretty simple… He already had the concept, base shoe and a donor shoe; all he had to do was deconstruct and reconstruct! Once the soles were removed from the uppers on the Nike Dunks it was time for a little bit of prep to get them ready for reconstruction.

With both shoes deconstructed, Vick needed to prep the uppers on the base shoe for the best line up possible. This process if tedious, but 100% necessary to get the best results possible. Since they are his personal pair.. You already know he had to take his time! With everything prepped, it was time to stick them together and hope for the best! Vick has done hundreds or reglues and sole swaps in his career, so he wasn’t too worried about how this one would go.

With the sole and uppers fully glued and stitched together it was time to pay attention to the details. Vick used the iron method to remove creasing from this used pair of sneakers. He also removed creasing from the material on the tongues using a steamer. Now these steps aren’t 100% needed, but they do help a lot! With the creasing removed it was time for just a little bit of painting. Vick used Angelus paint to touch up the upper and the wings logo.

After all that work; these are going straight to toe without a doubt! Drop a comment and let us know, did Vick make the right choice swapping these soles?

P.S. Don’t miss the next couple of Monday’s Vick has some HUGE projects coming up!

The Bread Jordan 1 is my all-time Favorite sneaker but I think we can all Agree the 1.5s aren't it back in ' 85 Nike did a few other versions besides The regular Jordan 1 they added a Jordan Two Soul just like these they even did a Version with the dunk Soul now that one Sounds intriguing but I believe they Only ever did a version with the Chicago Upper my version is going to be with the Breads these are going to go into Personal Collection so there could be no Mistakes these got to turn out perfect Let's see how it Goes first things first deconstruction To remove the uppers carefully without Damaging them I'm going tape up the Uppers and use a flathead to remove [Music] It insole and shoelace are out these are Going in the Personal Collection I do Plan on wearing them this insole is Trash so it's going to go in the trash The shoelace is red I'm not a fan of red Laces on my breads I'm going to use some Black ones so these are also going in The trash This process can be extremely timec Consuming but it works once the Flathead Is heated up and I've taped off the area I'm working in it's super important that I take my time going around the shoe Because I don't want to ruin the Uppers all right so far so good we got

All the edges fully separated for this Project I'm going to cut the bottom Board fully out right now it's glued Down really good to the midsole it's Getting in the way so from the inside I'm going to chop off the stitching Using a Blade minil are off that took some Effort these 1.5 sols are now trash now That I can get a deeper look into the Inside one of my biggest peeves is dog Hair and regular human hair on the Insides so real quick I'm going to use This s bristle brush to clean all that Stuff out after that I'm going to go to The compressor to finish the job While the shoes are separated I'm going To give the insides a good deepan and While the ated the uppers as well for This I'm just going to be using our soft Bristal brush and our 4 oz bottle Solution after all that scrubbing I'm Confident that the shoes are clean and Set and out now the shoes are covered in Suds I'm going to go to the sink rinse Them then use a compressor to get them As dry as possible then I'll put them Outside in this 1150° weather to get Them dry in 10 [Music] Minutes these breads are officially Baptized [Music] Cleaning is complete while the uppers

Are drying let's work on the donors last Year I bought these from Nike made by You it was a good base shoe I used some Cool materials I bought these shoes with The intent of using them for a base shoe However it's been over a year I don't Think I'm going to use them but they Have the perfect size sole the uppers on Those are size n these are a size N9 Red Sole these are perfect what I need them For as always I'm going to take some of The parts off for the Boneyard I'm going To take the tongue the insole the lace And the dbr it'll come in handy for a Future project let's start off by Deconstructing the [Music] Shoe to complete the job of removing the Uppers from the sols with ease I'm going To pour some acetone inside the shoe let It sit for a few minutes then I'll bring It back inside put the steamer inside The shoe wait another few minutes and Then it should come right Off onto some prep work before I can Apply some new glue I got to remove the Old glue first if I don't and I stick it On to the uppers as is it simply won't Bond for this I'm going to be using a Dremel with a steel drill bit and of Course a mask and glasses for Protection to complete the prep work on The Soles I'm going to use some anone And cotton balls to give it one final

Wipe down [Music] Prep is complete on the mols let's get Back to the uppers originally when I put The shoes outside to dry I put them on Top of these Jordan one L just so it can Maintain its shape and not get Warped Now we do need to do some prep work on The uppers we got to remove all the old Glue these were originally sitting on a Completely different Sole for it to sit Naturally on these dunk soles we got to Create a new line of where I'm going to Sky basically what I'm going to do is Just place it on the shoe get it lined Up nicely once I where it's at I'll get A marker create the new line all around And that's where I'll [Music] Sky skying is complete this part Requires some patience but it looks good Next Step using the the Dremel I'm going To go in and roughen up the material This is going to help with adhesion onto The sole one other thing I have to do I Got to raise a line on this area it's Still sitting a bit too low I'm going to Do that by using the dremo in that area Very carefully I don't want to go too High cuz that'll ruin the leather on the [Music] Uppers everything's prepped ready to go Now we're on to laying down some glue For this I'll be laying down some bar

Super stick I'm going lay down on the Uppers on the midsoles these are from The donors these are the bottom boards I'm going to replace the old ones with These once everything's applied I'll Slide them in and complete the job but First we got to apply the glue I'm going To do that next door cuz there's better Ventilation there [Applause] [Music] Glue's been applied it's been sitting For a couple hours it's time to stick Everything together as always I'm going To start with the toe make sure it lines Up properly heat it up stick everything Together let it sit for a little bit Then do the rest of the sides we only Get one shot at this so let's make it Count glue drop is fully cured I'm Really happy with how this turned out Alignment's on point all around I gave It a good stress test everything looks Good except for one little area I'll Touch it up with a little bit of glue no Issue there I'll do it again just so I Can show you guys what I Mean to wrap up the step I'm going to be Using the sewing all and some wi thread To reapply the stitching all over the so Simple step I'm going to grab two pieces Of thread one for the inside one for the Outside then I'll tie them together and Get the process going

[Music] [Applause] [Music] All done with the stitching that Completes a swap next we're going to Move on to the uppers there is some Creasing going on in the toe boox the Problem with this shoe is the leather From this era 2015 isn't the greatest I'm going to try to use the iron method To remove the creasing however it's not Going to come out perfect but let's see How it comes out to start this process I'm going to stuff the toe boxes with Two microfiber towels then with the wet Rag I'm going to place it over the toe Box then with the iron I'm going to Press down on it I'm going to go back And forth take breaks in between till The creasing is all gone I don't want to Overdo it cuz that can burn the leather Or cause Separation tool boxes are complete that Actually worked a lot better than I Expected however as soon as I put them On they are going to crease back up so Keep that in mind for the tongues there Is some creasing going on I don't expect Them to come out perfect but I'm going To try my best for this I'm going to use A steamer I'm going to go back and forth Until some of the creasing is all gone [Music] The last step in this restoration is

Doing some paint touch-ups I got the Paint mixed up this one was a hard one I Had to use all different shades of red And some pinks to get the right tone it Could have probably been simpler but These are the colors that I used I use Red fire red chili red magenta Autumn Red and Scarlet Red I didn't use any Doar on this one cuz the leather has a Nice Sheen to it if I use doar it would Get it too flat to touch it up I'm going To use a small detail brush I'm going to Touch up the red first and then I'll Move on to the black the biggest flaw on This shoe is the logo so I'm going to Start [Applause] There paint job is complete that's Basically it for the restoration I can't Wait to wear these last step I'm going To do is spray some mink oil on the Shoes I'm going to spray it onto the Horsehair brush and brush it on directly Onto the shoes I want to keep the Leather nice and [Music] Healthy final step is to lace it up and Put some brand new insoles inside real Quick let me show you guys the old ones Disgusting dirty heavily worn covered in Hair I'm I'm sure I could have cleaned Them and got them looking new again but In my opinion it wasn't worth it luckily For me I got some perfect Jordan one

Replacement insoles brand new white Let's put them inside and Lace them up With some brand new black laces as Well shoes are all laced up I'm excited To try them on but real quick let me Show you guys the up and close details One of my favorite things about this Shoe is that Nike Wing logo something You don't see very often we always get The Air Jordan wings logo but never the Nike now the whole point about this Project was swapping the souls this One's the before my opinion this is Terrible this is what we could have gone With in Air Jordan one Soul but this this right here is a lot Funner it's a whole different take on it It goes with the Jordan one upper what I Really like about this project is Peter Moore designed the Jordan Ones and the Dunks so this is a nice combination of Both his Creations the uppers were Pretty used but with the combination of Giving the shoe a good deep clean Removing the creasing from the toe box And touching up the red and the black it Made the uppers look almost brand new Drop a comment down below what you think About the dunk souls and if Nike should Release some let's go try these on man These are so sick you guys they're Comfortable no separation at all I found Myself some new dailies this is Vic Almighty catch you guys on Monday see

You guys
