The Saucony Hurricane 24 is a high-stack cushioned running shoe that provides stability through a wide platform and high sidewalls.

The midsole is dual layer, combining the soft, bouncy PWRRUN PB found in some of the brand’s performance shoes and a lower layer of PWRRUN to improve support and durability. Those foams work alongside a rocker design to give a smooth heel-to-toe transition.

Tom gives his early view on whether the shoe is worth spending your money on.

Hey Tom here in this video I'm going to Be doing a first run review of the sakon Hurricane 24 let's have a [Music] Look s hurricane 24 it costs £165 we Don't currently have a US price it Weighs 323 G or 11.4 o for men in a size 8 and the drop is 6 [Music] Mm the socon hurricane 24 is a high Stack cushioned running shoe that Provides stability through a wide Platform and high sidewalls the midsole Is dual layer combining the soft bouncy Power on PB found in some of the Brand's Performance shoes and a lower layer of Poweron to improve support and Durability those phams work alongside a Rocker design to give a smooth Heel To Toe transition the outsole uses sakon's Reliable xt900 outsole rubber positioned Across key areas to improve grip and Protection and there's a roomy Engineered mesh upper to provide a Comfortable and plenty of Breathability so it for me in the Hurricane 24 I'm size eight8 in the UK I Found this to be a very comfortable shoe It's a shoe completely designed for Comfort there's loads of padding around It there's lots of extra space in the Midfoot and the foref foot so there's Plenty of wiggle room it's I have a very

Average withd foot um so most shoes tend To fit me pretty well um but I did feel That there was a lot of space in this so I could wiggle my foot around there's Also plenty of space before my big toe Um I'd probably say the the the right Amount of space um before my big toe so For me this shoe fit absolutely Perfectly and I would stay to my UK Size8 in It so on paper this is not a shoe that I Thought I would like it is a very heavy Shoe it's 323 G for me in a UK size 8 Which is quite a heavy shoe it's one of The heavy shoes I've tested for a while It's also a stability shoe so it's meant To have the same level of stability in It based on what soak the website as the Sakon guide 17 and I'm not particularly Big fan of that shoe uh I just found it To be quite a clunky shoe didn't really Um and have any really enjoyable runs in That shoe it's fine the stability shoes Go but I think there's better ones out There uh it's also meant to have the Same level of cushioning as the Triumph 22 and the Triumph 22 is not a shoe that I particularly enjoy testing either so On paper this is not a shoe that I Really was looking forward to testing The other thing as well is that and People have mentioned this in comments On social media and on people's reviews That it looks very much like a hacker

Shoe and specifically something like the Haker Bondi 8 and the Haka Bondi series Is not a series of shoes that I have Ever enjoyed testing it's always just Felt like a really heavy clunky uh quite Firm shoe which I just never really Enjoyed this is quite a bit heavier than The the Haka Bondi 8 which is the the The previous one I've tested so yeah Really it's not a shoe that I thought That I was going to enjoy testing at all I've done two runs in the shoe now uh One was at a very comfortable pace of me So about 5 minute 30 kilm uh and then The other one was a little bit faster More like my training Pace um if I'm Doing longer sessions so about 4 Minute50 km um and what I found about This shoe is that I really enjoy test Testing it it's um a really comfortable Shoe it's a shoe that's fully designed For Comfort it's not a shoe that's in Any way meant to be vers it's not meant To be fast it's not meant to um be used For racing or anything like that unless You're sort of doing it to cross the Finish line um but it does have some Interesting elements in it which mean That it is there's a lot more to it than Some of those other shoes that I Mentioned especially something like the Hotab Bondi the uh Midol foam is dual Layer the top layer is power run PB Which is the same foam that you get in

Things like the So dorin Pro 3 one of my Favorite ever running shoes and you can Really feel that when you're out in the Run it is a big shoe it's a heavy shoe But it it Glides very nicely and is very Very comfortable to run in um I very Much enjoyed those two runs that I've Done in it so far just because it has a Lovely smooth rolling motion when you're Running in it it's got a bit of a rocker To it so it sort of moves you forward a Little bit and overall it's just really Really nice shoe to wear if you're just Using it for those easy comfortable Cushion miles uh where you just want a Solid comfortable shoe to do the job Those two pH phones work together to Provide a little bit more more stability But also give you a little bit of Cushioning and softness not really much Bounce but you can feel a nice little Bit of engy return when you're running In it um just at a comfort level it's Not not to run fast and that focus on Support and stability is quite important In the shoe because it does really do a Good job it does feel very very solid Very stable feels like your foot's Firmly in position but doesn't do it in A way that quite a lot of traditional um Stability shoes do it where they have Quite firm elements in the shoe I think The main reason this shoe is a support Shoe or stability shoe is that it's got

A very wide base on it and that power And foam in the bottom also helps with The little bit of firmness to really Nestle your foot into the ground it's Very hard to move your foot side by side In this shoe just because it's very wide So when you're Landing it really lands You nice and flatly on the shoe and Guides your foot quite quite nicely as You're running so over the course of Those two runs um I as I said I was just Maintaining a nice consistent pace and That is what this shoe is designed for It doesn't feel that heavy when you're Out running it which is quite surprising Um I actually didn't weigh it until After I'd done a couple of runs in it And I was surprised at how heavy it was Based on the feel of those runs um so as Support and stability shoes go it's a Really interesting one um and definitely Feels to me like a shoe that a lot of People are going to find uh an Interesting Prospect if they need some Stability or they just want something Really thick and solid um to just give a Really firm base on it because Um walking around the shoe feels great As well it is a really big shoe um but Unlike the Bondi which is quite solid um You do get a nice bit of softness around That power on PB foam in here so overall Over those first couple of runs very Surprised by this shoe um definitely not

What I was expecting it to be like in Some ways it feels to me like uh the New Balance Mo V4 which delivers a very Similar concept it's a the foam in it Isn't necessarily designed for Versatility or anything but it it's it's Just and comfortable enough to make the Shoe really comfortable but the Enjoyment from that shoe for me comes From that really wide base that just Guides your foot nicely as you're going Uh for those easy uh or longer runs I Think I could definitely do some nice Longer runs in this shoe as well at a Nice consistent Pace I wouldn't be able To do Tempo efforts or anything in this Shoe but I could definitely find myself Doing longer sessions in this shoe and Enjoying it despite the weight of the Shoe other than that uh the out soole is It doesn't have loads of um outside Rubber on it it's got a bit at the back Bit at the front um I I didn't have any Issues at all with grip when I was out There on the road um and I was running In the dry weather so there's no wet uh Ground or anything so I can't really te Vouch for that but this xt900 outside R Is very good on some other of the socony Shoes so I would expect it to do pretty Well it's got quite a good level of grip On it so um I'm expecting it to to do Well other than that um I'm just Surprised by the shoe and I'm looking

Forward to doing some more some more Testing in it because at the moment it's Become a shoe that I actually want to go Out and Run so my early verdict for the Hurricane 24 is that really impressed With the shoe I didn't think I would be I shouldn't have been based on what it Looks like on paper and my knowledge of Things like the socon guide 17 but I've Really enjoyed it um I actually took This shoe out after doing a Race So I Did the east1 10K a couple of weeks ago And the day after my legs were wrecked I'm not very fit at the moment uh and I Took this shoe out and I TR whenever I Take a cushion shoe out for the day After a big race I normally feel uh that First run normally feels like it's quite Dead to me like the shoe is not really Working on that recovery run with tied Legs this felt really good it just felt Like it was rolling me forward uh and Just was just really really comfortable Um and I definitely think those Stability support elements of that wide Base help as well cuz it really does Guide your foot into a position But it doesn't feel like a stability Shoe it just feels like a solid Cushioned shoe like something like the New Balance Mo V4 which I think is very Similar design and style to this shoe um Especially with the foam as well even

Though it looks like something like the Hwabond die it doesn't Ride Like the HCA Bondi for me that power on PP foam in Addition to the rocker definitely makes This as a shoe that has a bit more to it Is a there's a bit more excitement in The shoe and there's a nicer rolling Action it's a very easy shoe to cruise In at a nice consistent pace so really Positive first couple of runs in this Shoe for me I know Nick's got it so Looking forward to what he feels from The shoe cuz I know he's not a big fan Of heavy shoes um and we'll come back With a full review soon that's it for me On this first run in the hurricane 24 Thanks a lot for watching don't forget To like subscribe click the little bell And if you're going to catch and blow You can find link to our podcast which Comes out a couple of times each month And if you like it please leave us a Rating because that means that more People can see it thanks for watching This video catch you next time W
