Run Tester Kieran is in Gran Canaria currently getting ready to race The North Face Trans Gran Canaria Marathon. While here, he’s had the chance to put in some early test miles in the new The North Face Vectiv Enduris 4 and the new Vectiv Pro 3. One of which he’ll be using to take on the 1,800m of climbing and 2,000m+ of descending on some mixed terrain – and technical trails – of Gran Canaria. Hey people welcome to the Run testers And to Grand Canary where I'm currently Getting ready to race the trans Grand Canara marathon with the North Face they Brought me out here and kitted me out With these These are the new vective Endurus 4 I've also got the vective Pro 3 on my feet one of these shoes I'm Going to be using to take on the 18800 M Of climbing and more than 2,000 M of Descending on some mixed terrain and Technical Trails ahead of that I've Taken the endurus 4 for a couple of test Runs and here is how I got on with them First up let's give you a very quick Look at what's new with the North Face Effective endurus 4 then well this shoe Aims to bring some protrail performance To a more everyday Trail Runner shoe There are some big changes from the last Generation the Northface has swapped the Eva midsole for a new nitrogen TPU dream Foam this super critical midsole packs 2 Ms extra stack with 32 m in the hill 26 M on the fort for a 6 mil drop there's Also a 3D injected nylon effective 3.0 Stability plate to control the livelier Midsole it's also a pretty pronounced Rocker here up top you've got a dual Warp seamless upper we've got some Strategic kind of breathable zones there Is an internal booty here to keep out The debris and you've got a reinforced TPU toe cap for a bit of extra
Protection up front when you flip them Over what you've got here is an updated Out sole with four mil lugs now that's Up from 3 and 1 half Ms in the last gen We've also got an updated lug pattern With with lots of kind of Chevron lugs In different patterns across the bottom This shoe weighs at 10.7 o or 302 G in My men's UK and a half test shoe on Price it's going to set you back $160 in The US or £45 in the UK so for my first couple of runs in the Vective inuus 4 I did a 7 Mile easy and A 5m mixed Pace that was on mixed Terrain had a bit of road I had some Compacted Trails I've been on the sand Dunes here I've done some rocky sections And then I ran a big stretch of beach Where it was kind of wet sand and quite Compacted so nothing steep or technical Yet but a decent test for the comfort And the performance of these shoes on More runnable routes though the deep Sand actually of these masoma sand dunes Here isn't really particularly runable At times but it was a lot of fun now the First thing you notice is the Combination of the softness with a bit Of spring here from the energetic dream Foam midsole but that comes with a wide Platform here that also brings a decent Amount of control this shoe it made me Think immediately uh of shoes like the
Ax meta Fuji Trail but a less aggressive Kind of type but it has got that kind of Bouncy springy sort of Mido feel to it It's a shoe with a potential to cruise Along runnable Trails for sure now the Last urious I ran in was actually the Urious 2 and I found that shoe nice to Running but it was firm was a fairly Blocky ride this shoe feels a whole lot Livelier and more forgiving Under Foot But it's not so soft or bouncy that you Feel like you lose the trail it's among The new new breed of trail shoes that Feel really at home on the road and on Firmer ground though overall there is Quite a lot of structure so while it's Comfortable I wouldn't say it's Necessarily sort of a light feeling shoe It runs light but there's quite a lot of Shoe feeling on the foot that's not a Negative there is security and how Protective the whole thing feels but There is a fair amount of structure to It maybe more so than some of the sort Of Trail Super Shoes we've got that Creates support security and some Confidence I found the Fairly pronounced Rocker made for smooth transitions on The terrain that I've run so far one Other thing I got caught in some big Rain and the shiny stones of grand Canary's Town Center uh got really Slippy and this updated grip struggled a Bit on that now this isn't strictly the
Kind of terrain that you'll be tackling In this shoe and these shiny paved Walkways are nightmare for most shoes if You've ever encountered them they're Super smooth so when they get wet they Get slick but I was a little bit Surprised by how skatey it felt Considering the lugs on this now final Thing I really love the color way and The Aesthetics the silver sort of lime Look that you've got here and the Overall look of the shoe is a winner for Me now as with all my first runs the Caveat here is that these are really Early First Impressions rather than the Full verdict but on these early miles I've been impressed by The North Face Effctive endurus 4 this is a trail shoe That runs with energy but retains a good Level of control there's plenty of Cushion for long hauling but some Liveliness for a bit of speed as well if You want to up the gears it's good room Up front in the toebox which makes for a Comfortable fit and overall this is a Shoe that I think feels quite Comfortable quite natural on the foot With a bit of structure there one thing I'm interested to test is whether or not It's precise enough with the kind of Wider platform that you've got for Picking along more cluttered Trails it Doesn't feel like the most precise shoe I've run in but we will find out when we
